"Some things aren't worth trying to win against." That's what was running through my head when it ripped through Lugunica and destroyed everything. Our people call it the Calamity. Let me rewind a bit.
Hello, my name is Sun! I live in the eastern section of Legunica. I'm currently 14 and attending the East Academy of Legunica under the Pyromancy division, Life is fun, I have a girlfriend, and I'm expected to graduate next month!
"Hey, Sun, come and check this out."
That's my sister, Moon. She's annoying sometimes, but overall, she's very sweet. I love her very much.
"What do you want, Moon?"
"Look up! A flying Alien monster thingy! Do you think I could shoot it from here with my bow?" Moon exclaims as she points towards the sky.
"What are you on about, there couldn't be an Alie-"
Sun looks in horror as he sees the most terrifying creature to exist, a giant creature with flesh as thick as armor spanning across a fourth of the sky, a giant eye appearing to be in the middle with seemingly endless and infinite tentacles squirming out from all sides.
One of the tentacles smashes the barrier of the city, leaving it susceptible to attack by monsters. Sun quietly mutters, "I–I-I thought the barrier was impenetrable."
My best friend Miles runs to me, urging me and my sister to run. "What are you doing, Sun!? There's no time, we need to run!"
I turn around to find my sister gone. "The only trace she left was her bow and a streak of blood. Not a lot, but enough for me to follow while running away from the Calamity."
The terrifying and mortified scream of his people, friends, and those he once loved and cared for echoes and screeches throughout the air, trying to claw into his head.
"It's ok, they s-should all be o-okay, r-right?" Sun says whilst trembling in fear, eventually he gets to the end of the blood trail and sees a mysterious gate with a horrible and utterly unbreathable stench.
Then from within he hears his sister screaming "SOMEONE HELP, ANYONE PLEASE!".
Sun uses his flames to boost him towards the portal; however, the instant before his hand touches it, he hears a voice say "Todoloo's" in what appears to be Makain tongue.
"Makai, the demon realm, that's where she went," Miles says.
"We have to save her miles!"
"Well, we have to save ourselves first!"
Just then, Sun realizes that his parents are home unprotected, and he's determined to at least save them.
"Follow me, Miles, Hurry! My parents should be this way!"
Miles, with his creation magic, crafts a hoverboard and flies towards Sun's house while Sun, with his flame magic, uses his flames as boosters to dash over to his house.
Along the way, Sun hears the splattering bodies and screams of more people he cares for, including his girlfriend. Miles hears them too, they both look towards them and send a prayer their way.
Miles and Sun arrive at Sun's place only to find a ruined house, a giant slab of brick, blood leaking out from under it, a present, and a note.
Sun drops to the floor and cries in horror.
"I'm sorry for your loss."
Just then, the Calamity sweeps half of the city, killing a majority of its population.
"We have to leave the city…" Sun painfully whispers with tears in his eyes.
"Today's your birthday, isn't it? That present must be yours, open it before we leave."
"You're right."
Sun carefully reads the note, which says as follows:
'Hello, my dear Sun, if you're reading this, then I probably couldn't give you this gift myself for some reason, well, anyway, I hope you enjoy it! Love You, Happy Birthday!
Mom and Dad
Sun, still with tears in his eyes, burns off the wrapping paper, only to find a staff with a flame crystal at the tip, and a twin dagger set made of titanium.
"This must have cost a fortune."
Sun wraps the dagger set around his waist, picks up the staff, and whispers, "Farewell, Mom and Dad, I will save Moon!."
Sun, boosted by the flame crystal, creates a sun dragon, and prompts Miles to hop on.
They fly towards the sun, where Makai is said to be located.
"I'm off to find The Truth Beyond The Horizon!"
