Chapter 5 - .5

Five days later, the two of them finally arrived at the Tiger Tribe.

At the entrance of the village, a few male beastmen were chiseling stones and fixing the beast caves. When they saw the chief's son bringing back a strange female, they all stopped working and looked toward them.

They wanted to figure out the relationship between this new female and the chief's son. Their eyes didn't blink as they stared at her, clearly amazed by her appearance.

A tribe was like a large village, with thousands of people. While not everyone knew each other well, they were at least familiar with each other's faces. Seeing someone completely new made everyone curious, and they started following the two.

Ignoring the crowd, Yuliana followed Weyan to the entrance of the cave where he lived. Before they could go inside, two beastmen rushed toward them.

"Chief, please save my brother! He was attacked by a wild boar while hunting. It pierced his stomach. I only have one brother, I'm begging you to help!"

The injured brother was holding his bleeding abdomen. The wound was large, and blood kept flowing out.

"Did you see the tribe healer? What did the healer say?"

The speaker was Weyan's father, the chief of the Tiger Tribe. He was tall and strong, his presence alone carried authority.

"The healer said there's no hope. The boar pierced too deep. He only gave poison to make my brother's passing less painful."

"But he's still alive! He's not gone yet!"

"Chief, please, think of something!"

The tall man cried uncontrollably.

Yuliana glanced at the wound. It was serious but not impossible to treat. It was an external injury. With proper care, he could survive.

But with poor medical resources and the risk of infection later on, the situation was uncertain. Should she help?

The crowd, seeing all the blood, gasped.

"This is too awful. I told Lin Da he couldn't take on a wild boar, but he didn't listen."

"Right? That boar is twice the size of our beast form. The impact alone could kill someone."

"Looks like Lin Da won't make it. Even the healer gave up. They better prepare for mate transfer."

In the beast world, if a male died, his mate would be given to his closest unmarried brother. The children would also be raised by the brother. This ensured the female and young were cared for, and helped solve the issue of single males.

"I can't help. I'm not a healer. If the healer can't do anything, what can I do?"

The chief's face showed sympathy, but also helplessness.

Lin Da's brother had red, tear-filled eyes. His pain and sorrow were clear.

After a moment of hesitation, Yuliana stepped forward.

"Lay him down. Holding him like that will only make the wound worse."

She couldn't stand by any longer.

"You're a healer?"

"Yuliana, are you a healer?"

"You're a healer?"

All three men spoke at once, surprised.

The crowd outside started whispering too.

"I know a bit. I can't promise anything, but I'll try. Are you willing to let me?"

She didn't want to cause trouble if she failed.

The injured man weakly opened his eyes and looked at his brother.

"Xiao Lin, no matter what happens, don't blame her."

"Yes, please save my brother. No matter what happens, we'll always be grateful."

Xiao Lin nearly knelt before Yuliana if he hadn't been holding his brother.

With their approval, Yuliana got to work.

She asked for a stone bed to be cleared and laid the injured man down flat.

"Weyan, I need hot water, clean cloth, some hemostatic herbs from the healer. Also, strong alcohol and any sharp weapons like knives. Hurry."

Weyan didn't understand why she needed these rare items, but trusted her and went to gather help from others.

Since there was no cloth, the chief gave her clean animal skin instead. She gently pressed it to the wound to stop the bleeding.

Xiao Lin tried to help, but she stopped him and sent him to carve a new bamboo needle. Male hands were too rough—he could make things worse.

By the time Weyan and others returned, the bleeding had stopped.

The items she asked for were rare, even in the chief's house. Most had to be borrowed from the healer after much persuasion.

She boiled the knife and bamboo needle, then had others hold down the injured man's limbs.

The boar's tusk had brought in bacteria and dirt. The wound was slightly swollen and infected.

She had to remove all the rotten flesh, pour alcohol over the area, then stitch it with a bamboo needle and animal hair.

The whole process was delicate and long. Even seasoned warriors couldn't help but flinch.

Especially when she cut flesh and stitched the wound. They had never seen such skills.

Some of the men instinctively held their own stomachs.

Outside, the onlookers gasped.

After everything, Lin Da was pale, lips trembling from pain and weakness.

Yuliana finally stopped and sat down, breathing heavily.

Weyan stepped forward to support her. This gentle but strong female was unlike any other.

"Yuliana, are you okay?"

"I'm fine. The wound is taken care of. Whether he survives depends on his will."

She wiped sweat from her forehead.

"Will my brother really be okay? What should I do next?"

"I understand you're worried. From now on, clean the wound with alcohol daily, apply anti-inflammatory herbs. Ask the healer for them, or go to the mountain. If you can't identify them, ask me."

"If he gets a fever, come to me immediately. Understand?"

She gave Xiao Lin all the instructions.

"Yes!" he nodded firmly.
