I woke up to the blaring sound of an alarm clock.
Beep... Beep... Beep...
"Ugh… shut up already," I groaned, slapping around the nightstand until I finally found the button. The room went quiet again, but I was wide awake now.
For a moment, I just lay there, staring at the ceiling.
Right. Yesterday actually happened. I'm in another world—an anime world. I have a cheat-like system, a badass S-rank ability, and I'm about to attend Kuoh Academy... the school crawling with devils, angels, and fallen angels.
"No pressure," I muttered sarcastically.
After freshening up, I threw on my new uniform. Crisp white shirt, black blazer, red undershirt, and black pants. Looked exactly like the one from the anime. I half-expected it to be cosplay-level uncomfortable, but to my surprise, it was actually high-quality—smooth, well-fitted, and kind of stylish.
Anime world logic strikes again.
I glanced at myself in the mirror. My blue hair was still messy but kind of cool-looking, and my black eyes gave off a calm yet slightly intimidating vibe. Definitely not the type of guy who'd get bullied on day one.
"Let's hope I don't run into Rias or Akeno right off the bat. I'm not ready for that kind of chaos yet."
With that thought in mind, I grabbed my bag and headed out. The house was way too big for one person—seriously, who needs three floors and six bathrooms? But I wasn't complaining. I had food, a warm bed, and now... a second chance.
The walk to Kuoh Academy wasn't far. Blue skies, birds chirping, a light breeze—it all felt too peaceful for a world hiding gods and monsters in plain sight.
As I approached the school, I saw it in full for the first time.
And wow... it was almost exactly like the anime. The big iron gates, the clean walkways, the neat rows of trees lining the front yard—it had that elite private school aura. Students in uniforms were walking in groups, laughing, chatting, living normal lives... unaware of the chaos lurking just beneath the surface.
I stepped through the gates, heart beating a little faster.
Alright, Ren. Time to play it cool.
I headed to the faculty office to hand in my transfer papers and get my class assignment. The teachers greeted me politely—though one of them, a tall guy with glasses, gave me a weird look, like he was analyzing me a little too closely.
Suspicious.
Still, I played along, smiled politely, and soon enough, I was handed a schedule and led to my classroom.
Class 2-B. Let's hope they're not total weirdos.
As I slid the door open, every eye in the room turned toward me.
And then came the whispers.
"Whoa... is he a model?"
"Check out that hair... is that dyed?"
"Wait, is he foreign?"
Ah, yes. The classic new student experience.
The teacher, a kind-looking woman, gestured for me to introduce myself.
"Hello, I'm Ren Yamamoto. I just transferred here from overseas. I hope we can all get along."
Polite, short, non-threatening. Perfect.
"You can sit by the window, in the back row," the teacher said, pointing to the classic protagonist seat™.
Of course.
I made my way over, ignoring the curious stares. The seat was empty, and I slid into it with a sigh.
Just then, someone tapped my shoulder.
"Hey, I'm Matsuda. This is Motohama. Nice to meet you, man!" said a bald guy with a too-friendly grin, gesturing to a dude with glasses who looked way too interested in me.
Oh no.
I knew these two.
The infamous pervert duo.
"Nice to meet you," I replied, smiling politely but mentally praying they'd leave me alone.
"So," Motohama whispered, leaning in, "are you into big boobs or thighs?"
"I—what?" I blinked.
"Answer honestly," Matsuda added, dead serious.
"...I'm just trying to survive my first day, guys."
They laughed like I was one of them already.
Fantastic.
The rest of the day passed somewhat normally. I sat through classes, took notes, ignored stares, and tried not to think about how any one of my classmates could secretly be a supernatural creature.
At lunch, I ate on the roof—because obviously. Gotta stick to the protagonist traditions.
The breeze was nice, and I finally had a moment to breathe.
I pulled up the system again, focusing my thoughts.
[Void Evolution System]
I selected the [Status] tab again and stared at the words Void Devourer. Still no description. Huh. Guess I'll have to unlock more of it somehow.
Then I opened [Abilities] and re-read the one I had.
[Magnetic Dominion – Rank S]
Still completely OP. I hadn't tried using it yet—no way I was going to blast lightning bolts in the middle of school—but I was itching to experiment. I'd need a safe place to test it... maybe tonight.
Just as I closed the system, I sensed something.
Eyes. Watching me.
I turned around—and locked eyes with a girl.
Long crimson hair. Deep blue eyes. A presence that made the air feel heavier.
Rias Gremory.
Standing at the rooftop door, watching me with an unreadable expression.
"Ren Yamamoto," she said softly. "You're... interesting."
Oh no.
The plot just found me.
