Chapter 75 - Chapter 75: The Sovereigns Step Forward

The Arena rumbled under the roar of the crowd.

Dust rose.

Magic clashed.

Weapons flashed in bursts of light and steel.

But all eyes kept drifting — inevitably —

toward the eastern gates.

Toward the cracked-crown banners.

Toward the Sovereign Delegation that waited without urgency,

as if the stage itself belonged to them.

Because it did.

And when the golden Nexus Crystal flared again,

the Master of Ceremonies spoke with a voice that trembled slightly despite himself:

"Next Match:

Heartland Sovereign Delegation versus Stormspire Sanctum Vanguard!"

The crowd surged.

Some cheering.

Some jeering.

Most watching with breathless anticipation.

Because whatever happened next…

the world would remember it.

Kaelen's Calm

Kaelen stepped forward first.

No drawn weapon.

No battle stance.

Just calm, unstoppable Will radiating from every breath.

Riven cracked his knuckles, flames sparking along his gauntlets.

Lyanna pulled her spirit runes tighter around her.

Mira vanished into the air itself.

Eren shifted his hammer onto his back with a grunt.

Selina's soft glow surrounded them, ready to heal or defend.

Damon walked like an immovable wall of iron and stone.

Lyra hovered just above ground, cloak flaring, eyes half-closed.

They walked as one.

Not soldiers.

Not mercenaries.

Sovereigns.

Across the Field: Stormspire

The Stormspire Vanguard lined up, electricity crackling around them.

Tall, sharp-eyed warriors wrapped in storm-forged armor.

Weapons humming with raw lightning.

Leaders with smug, confident smirks — sure of their superiority.

Their Captain — a long-haired lightning user named Rysar Venth — sneered.

"Cracked crowns?" he shouted across the field.

"You'll crack harder when we break your bones!"

The crowd laughed, half-nervous.

Kaelen did not even blink.

Riven grinned like a wolf.

Selina sighed softly, almost pitying.

Aria Watches

From her place in the First Crown Pavilion,

Aria leaned forward.

Her hand tightened on the stone railing.

"Show me, Kaelen," she thought.

"Show me if the boy I knew became the Sovereign I fear."

Beside her, Seren and Vaelen watched silently —

silent sentinels sensing the shifting winds of fate.

The Battle Begins

The Nexus Crystal pulsed.

The ground shifted, hardening into battle formation.

Floating platforms rose around the ring.

Magic dampeners spun — weak things barely able to scratch Sovereign-level Will.

And the gong rang.

"Begin!"

Stormspire charged immediately.

Fast.

Efficient.

Deadly.

A spear of pure lightning lanced straight toward Kaelen.

Two hammer-wielders flanked the sides, aiming to crush Lyanna and Mira.

A net of electrified chains arced toward Selina and Damon.

A textbook opening assault.

Designed to overwhelm.

Designed to humiliate.

Designed to end things before Heartland could respond.

But they forgot something critical.

You cannot chain the sky.

You cannot cage a Sovereign.

Kaelen's First Step

Kaelen lifted his hand casually.

Just one.

The lightning spear bent in midair —

screamed —

and shattered harmlessly into mist.

The ground cracked beneath his boots from the sheer force of his stillness.

Before the attackers could even react,

Mira slipped through the shadows —

one heartbeat here, the next behind the hammer-wielders —

knocking both unconscious with surgical strikes.

Lyanna's spirit runes flared, weaving an unbreakable shield over Selina and Damon.

Eren roared —

his hammer striking the earth once —

sending a shockwave that sent the chain net and its wielders flying like dolls.

Lyra descended from the skies like a Sovereign bird,

ripping through the stunned Stormspire flank with gusts sharper than blades.

And Riven?

Riven laughed as he ducked a desperate lightning sword swing —

then answered with a flaming punch that melted through the weapon and armor both.

Kaelen's End

The last two Stormspire elites, seeing their squadmates devastated in seconds,

turned to flee.

A mistake.

Kaelen moved once.

Just once.

One step.

And space itself seemed to fold.

In the blink of an eye,

he stood before them.

No weapon drawn.

Only Will.

He tapped the hilt of Astryn gently.

The two elites crumpled without even being touched —

their auras broken, their Will shattered.

Unharmed.

But utterly defeated.

Silence

For a heartbeat,

the Grand Arena was utterly silent.

Tens of thousands watched, stunned, unable to even process what they had seen.

No flashy explosions.

No drawn-out duels.

Only overwhelming Sovereignty.

The Gong Rings

The Master of Ceremonies, voice shaking slightly, lifted his staff.

"Victory — Heartland Sovereign Delegation!"

The roar that followed was like a storm unleashed.

But not just cheers.

Fear.

Wonder.

Shock.

The world had seen the first true strike.

And they would never forget.

Aria's Heart

From her place above,

Aria's hands tightened until her knuckles went white.

Her heart thundered against her chest.

Because now she understood.

Kaelen wasn't the boy she remembered.

He wasn't even the hero she had hoped to surpass.

He was something else entirely.

"You've become a Sovereign," she thought, tears burning at the corners of her eyes.

"And now… if I want to walk beside you again… I must become more, too."

Kaelen's Reflection

Kaelen turned slowly,

meeting Aria's gaze across the arena once more.

And this time,

he smiled.

Not arrogantly.

Not mockingly.

But as a Sovereign welcoming an equal yet to awaken fully.

"Soon, Aria," he whispered to the rising wind.

"Soon, we'll walk together again.

Not as shadows of the past.

But as Sovereigns of the future."

And the world trembled under the first true steps of a new Age.
