Chapter 10 - Chapter 9: The First Puzzle

The sun was beginning to set, casting long shadows over the jungle as Ethan and his team reached the first of many ancient structures they had been seeking. The stone walls of the temple loomed in the distance, barely visible through the thick vines and overgrowth. As they approached, the ruins began to reveal themselves—massive stone columns, some crumbled with age, others still standing tall despite the centuries of neglect. The place was ancient, built long before modern man had set foot on these lands. Yet, despite the damage, it held a certain majesty—a reminder of the civilization that had once thrived here.

Ethan could feel the weight of history pressing down on him as he stepped forward, his heart pounding with anticipation. The Dragon's Eye was close now. He could almost feel its presence, its power lingering in the air. But the path was far from clear.

The entrance to the temple was blocked by a massive stone door, etched with symbols that seemed to pulse with an otherworldly energy. The carvings depicted celestial bodies—planets, stars, and constellations—that seemed to shift when viewed from different angles. But it was more than just decoration. Ethan could sense that the door was more than a simple barrier. It was a puzzle, a challenge that would require more than just physical strength to overcome.

Sophia stepped forward, her eyes scanning the symbols. "These are astronomical markers," she said, her voice filled with awe. "This door is tied to the stars. It's a celestial map, a guide to unlocking the next part of the journey."

Ethan's mind raced. The Dragon's Eye was said to be hidden by more than just physical defenses—it was protected by riddles, by mysteries that only the most dedicated could solve. This puzzle was no different.

As they examined the door, Ethan realized that the celestial markings corresponded to specific constellations visible in the night sky. The puzzle was a map, one that could only be completed by aligning the symbols with the current position of the stars.

"This is it," Ethan said, turning to Sophia. "We need to figure out the star alignment. This door won't open until we solve the puzzle."

For hours, they worked together, studying the celestial map, adjusting the positions of the stone carvings to match the stars. It wasn't easy. The puzzle was complex, the stakes high. They had no idea what dangers lay behind the door, but Ethan knew they couldn't afford to fail. If they did, the Dragon's Eye—and whatever other secrets it held—would remain out of their reach.

Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, they heard it—the faint sound of stone grinding against stone. The door shifted, slowly at first, then with increasing speed, until it opened wide enough for them to pass through. They had done it. They had unlocked the first of many barriers that stood between them and the Eye.
