Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: When Fate Insists

Days passed.

Or maybe it was just hours — time had become blurry since that moment.

Since you.

I told myself it was just a coincidence.

A fleeting encounter.

A beautiful hallucination that would slowly fade.

And yet, every night, when I closed my eyes, it was your face I saw.

Your smile.

Your gaze.

You had become a quiet echo inside of me, a murmur that refused to be silenced.

And then...

Fate insisted.

It was raining that day.

The kind of fine, stubborn rain that soaks into your clothes and your soul without mercy.

Most people ran for shelter, their heads bowed, their steps hurried.

Me?

I walked slowly, letting the rain blur the world around me, washing away everything except one thing — the memory of you.

I turned a corner, lost in my own universe…

And there you were.

As if the universe itself had drawn you back onto my path.

You were standing under the small awning of a bookstore, your hands buried deep into the pockets of your coat, your hair damp and sticking slightly to your forehead.

You were there, real.

Tangible.

Breathing.

I froze.

My heart, traitor that it was, stumbled inside my chest.

For a moment, I just watched you, afraid to move, afraid that the smallest step would break the fragile miracle unfolding before me.

Then you looked up.

And once again, your eyes found mine.

The rain fell around us, turning the world into a blurred watercolor painting — but you...

You were sharp, vivid, alive.

You were the only real thing left.

A soft, uncertain smile touched your lips.

A simple smile.

And yet, it felt like the world had just been rewritten around that single, breathtaking curve.

This time, I knew I couldn't let you slip away again.

I forced my legs to move, step by step, crossing the invisible distance between us.

Every step was terrifying.

Every step was exhilarating.

When I finally stood in front of you, close enough to feel the fragile warmth radiating from your body, the words caught again in my throat.

But this time, I fought through the fear.

"Hi," I said, my voice barely more than a whisper.

You blinked, surprised.

And then, slowly, you smiled — not just with your lips, but with your entire being.

A smile that lit up the grey rain-soaked world around us.

"Hi," you answered, your voice soft, a little shy.

It was just a word.

Just a beginning.

But for me, it was everything.

The rain continued to fall, but I no longer felt it.

All I felt was you.

All I saw was you.

All I needed was you.

Only you.

Only me.

And the infinite possibilities blooming between us.
