Chapter 1: Angel of Sin

Hoàng Hải Vân had just taken off her lab coat, ready to leave, when yet another corpse was brought in. Lately, not a single day had passed without a murder case. Every victim was male, and all had suffered the same gruesome fate—losing their "precious jewels." What was even more disturbing was that each of them had died with a lecherous grin frozen on their face.

She couldn't help but question the moral justice of her profession. Why did a forensic doctor like her have to scrutinize men's lower bodies so frequently? If her guess was right, the perpetrator was either a woman seeking revenge or some impotent man trying to restore his masculinity in the most twisted way possible. Did this mean she was being forced to become some kind of perverted doctor just to match wits with an even more perverted criminal?

The victim brought in this time had a rather stern and upright appearance, and, thankfully, no eerie grin on his face. That alone gave her some reassurance. A preliminary examination confirmed that his "jewels" were still intact. Cause of death? A bullet to the head. But as she reviewed his X-ray, she noticed a foreign object inside his body. Without hesitation, she rushed to extract it through surgery.

By the time she finished, it was already late. Quickly changing out of her scrubs, she hurried home. If she spent any more time in the morgue, she might as well become a walking corpse herself.

The crisp autumn air was dry and cool, making her crave some snacks. She wandered toward a nearby supermarket, savoring the small, simple pleasures of life. The city lights had already flickered on, illuminating the streets where groups of girls walked together, laughing and chatting. A pang of loneliness crept into her heart—she had no close girlfriends. People avoided her, fearing that the scent of corpses clung to her body. She, however, had long grown used to it and could no longer detect any such smell.

Her thoughts were interrupted when she noticed a young man standing motionless, gazing intently at a giant screen in the city center. The screen was broadcasting a program about a young lawyer.

She hadn't expected to see such an ethereal beauty in real life. The boy had eyes as clear as crystal, flawless, fair skin, and lips slightly parted in an expression of cold indifference. His straight nose and delicate yet firm facial features were framed by smooth, silky hair that occasionally fluttered in the wind, revealing thick, slightly arched brows and a forehead brimming with intelligence. His lean yet well-proportioned figure was clad in a simple black jacket and dark jeans.

He stood completely still, unmoving—like a masterpiece of flawless craftsmanship, without a single imperfection. His face was calm as still water, his aura cold as ice. In that moment, he resembled an angel who had descended from the heavens, standing right in the heart of the city.

Hoàng Hải Vân shook her head in concern, feeling a bit worried for the young man. The city had been in chaos lately, with frequent murders, and the victims were all male. Why was he standing here alone, admiring another man on the big screen?

Sure, the man on the screen—judging by his charisma, talent, and looks—was indeed outstanding. But this boy looked so young, probably not even of age. Did he really need to stare at the screen so intently?

Just as she was about to approach him, someone suddenly grabbed her and pushed her against the wall. Before she could cry out, a voice whispered in her ear:

"Hoàng Hải Vân, don't go near him."

She widened her eyes in surprise. It was Vũ Phi Toàn—the brightest star, the most beautiful flower of the Security Bureau.

He was famous not only for his looks but also for his exceptional skills. Every mission assigned to him was completed flawlessly. That was why, despite his young age, he had already secured a critical position in the bureau.

So the rumors were true—the more handsome a man is, the more likely he is to be gay, and the gayer he is, the more handsome he becomes.

With a teasing tone, she said, "Even if you like him, you should go for someone closer to your age. He's just a kid. Do you want to end up in jail?"

Before Vũ Phi Toàn could explain, a drunken man suddenly appeared beside the young boy. With a sleazy grin, he reached out and stroked the boy's face.

"Didn't expect to see such a delicate beauty in this world. How about I take care of you, huh?"

A shiver ran down Hoàng Hải Vân's spine. If it were her in the boy's position, she would have kneed the bastard right between the legs.

Yet, the young man remained completely still, eyes fixed on the giant screen.

For a brief moment, she thought she saw something terrifying—a flicker of cold, inhuman cruelty in his gaze. It was the look of a demon.

She blinked, rubbing her eyes, but when she looked again, there was nothing unusual. Maybe it was just a trick of the dim city lights.

A moment later, the young man turned and walked away, and the drunken man staggered after him.

"A filthy toad trying to take advantage of a swan," she thought in disgust.

She instinctively moved to follow and protect the beautiful youth, but Phi Toàn stopped her.

"He's not a kid. He's already 18. And those murder victims? They all had the same killer. I've been tracking the clues. There's a high chance… that the killer is him."

She stared at him, trying to process his words. It took a moment before she could speak again.

"You're saying… he's a murderer?"
