Chapter 3 - chapter 3: Forced to leave.

"Get out of here, don't let me see you again," Ava had no feelings for her daughter, and now she despised her even more. She grabbed her and dragged her towards the door, trying to drive her away.

Astrid intentionally disgusted her mother, "Even if you drive me out, Ethan Thompson will bring me back."

The veins on Ava's forehead bulged, her eyes were bloodshot, filled with resentment, "You must be against me, okay, don't blame me for being ruthless."

She let go of Astrid, turned around and went back to the room, slammed the door shut with a bang, and Astrid didn't't know what she was doing inside.

A sense of unease surged in Astrid's heart, but the door was locked and she couldn't get in. She pressed her ear tightly against the door and could faintly hear Ava Moreno say the word "hospital".

Hospital?

Astrid remembered something, her body shook violently, and she turned and ran out like crazy.

When she arrived at the hospital, she saw that her grandmother's bed was empty. She grabbed the nurse who was changing the sheets and asked urgently, "Where is the patient in this bed?"

"She's been discharged, just a few minutes ago," the nurse said.

Astrid Green didn't have time to investigate the hospital's responsibility now. She ran out frantically, hoping to catch up with the person who took her grandmother away.

Her grandmother had a stroke because of her father's suicide by jumping off a building. She was traumatized and couldn't speak or walk, and could only lie in bed all day.

Now that her grandmother had been taken away, it must have been her mother who had someone do it, because her mother knew that her grandmother was the person she cared about the most now.

Astrid's gums were almost bitten through as she anxiously scanned her surroundings with bloodshot eyes, searching for her grandmother everywhere from the hospital to outside its walls, but to no avail.

She returned to the Thompson family's residence like a crazed animal, approaching Ava Moreno with fury and shouting, "Where is my grandmother? Where did you take her? Tell me now!"

Seeing Astrid finally in her grasp, Astrid's lips curled up in satisfaction. "I've already booked you a flight online. Leave for overseas now, and as long as you don't come back, I won't harm the old lady and will let her continue to receive treatment."

A chill ran through Astrid's body, causing her to shiver uncontrollably. Was this really her biological mother? She was using her grandmother's life to force her to leave.

"What you're doing is a crime, you..."

"Hehe, you can call the police if you want, but before they arrive, your dearest grandmother might have an accident.

After all, she's old and has had a stroke. A small car accident could easily take her life!" Ava Moreno said coldly, expressionless.

Astrid Green's heart felt like it was being squeezed, causing her unbearable pain. The woman in front of her once again showed her what cruelty and coldness were. She had taken away her father, and now she was threatening to take away her only loved one, her grandmother.

Astrid bit her lip until blood oozed out of the wound before finally releasing her teeth and staring at Ava Moreno with bloodshot eyes. "How do I know that you won't harm my grandmother as soon as I leave, leaving her to fend for herself?"

"I will send you a video of that old lady every three months. Don't worry, she is useful to me now. I wish she could live a long life! As long as you disappear from my sight and from the Thompson family, I will definitely find someone to take care of her!"

Ava knew that Astrid would compromise because the old lady was her closest relative.

"One month, one video per month. If you agree, I will leave."

Astrid Green did compromise, as Ava Moreno had predicted. She had no choice.

Ava Moreno frowned and agreed. Now she just wanted to get rid of the person in front of her. Once Astrid Green was gone and no longer causing trouble, she could use some means to please Godfrey Thompson. Perhaps she could still become the lady of the Fu family.

...

Astrid Green left.

Ava Moreno was afraid that she would sneak away, so she personally took her to the airport and didn't leave until the plane took off.

Two days later, Mr. Thompson's condition improved.

Ethan Thompson had just returned from the hospital. He looked tired and his bloodshot eyes were searching for Astrid Green's figure.

After not seeing her, he went directly to Ava Moreno and asked where Astrid Green had gone.

Ava Moreno was secretly glad that she had sent Astrid away. If Ethan Thompson and Astrid were really together, she would never be able to become the lady of the Thompson family.

"When that girl found out that Grandpa was so angry that he was admitted to the ICU, she was scared and ran away. I don't know where she went. I've been looking for her for two days, but I haven't found her. And before she left, she stole something. The house was a mess and the precious jewelry your father gave me was stolen. Ethan, go check if you've lost anything."

She wanted to make Ethan Thompson hate Astrid, even if he found her in the future, he would have no good feelings towards her.

When Ethan heard that Astrid Green had run away, his eyes darkened and he exuded a cold chill.

Ava Moreno only met his gaze for a moment before quickly looking away. In the Thompson family, she wasn't afraid of even the old master, but she had been afraid of Ethan Thompson from the moment she saw him.

This man had a strong aura and was ruthless in his methods. He would seek revenge for even the slightest grievance, and there were few people in the business world who dared to oppose him.

Seeing Ethan go upstairs, Ava's lips curled up slightly.

Ethan returned to his room, opened a drawer, and took out an antique wooden jewelry box. After unlocking it, he found it empty.

The box used to hold a bracelet his mother had given him before she passed away. He often took it out to remember her, so it had always been kept in his room.

The bracelet had been passed down from his great-grandmother and only the wife of the eldest son of the Thompson family was qualified to wear it.

His mother had given it to him before she died, hoping that he would give it to his future wife. Now, it had been stolen by Astrid Green.

Ignoring the value of the bracelet, the fact that it was a relic of Ethan's mother was enough to show its importance to him.

As he held the jewelry box, the veins on the back of his hand bulged and his dark eyes gathered a storm.

Ethan was angry!

"Astrid Green, you've got guts. Don't let me catch you, or I'll kill you!" he gritted his teeth and said in a furious voice.

But perhaps even he himself didn't realize that there was a hint of disappointment in his eyes, in addition to the anger.
