Chapter 6: Choosing the Seed
The morning sun rose behind Holy Soul Village, painting the world in soft golden light.
Old Jack, Tang San, and Ye Feng stood at the edge of the village road, small bundles slung over their shoulders.
The villagers gathered to see them off, cheering and shouting blessings.
Old Jack dabbed at his eyes secretly and cleared his throat.
"Alright! Alright! No need for tears!"
He turned to the boys.
"Walk tall, both of you. The honor of Holy Soul Village rides with you!"
Tang San nodded solemnly.
Ye Feng bowed deeply to the villagers.
Then, without looking back, the three of them set off.
---
The road to Notting City was long, winding through hills and forests.
Old Jack walked ahead, humming an old tune.
Tang San marched quietly, sharp eyes observing everything.
Ye Feng lagged slightly behind, deep in thought.
"Which martial soul should I focus on?"
In his mind, the Copper Sword hovered — simple, rugged, but cold and heavy.
And beside it, the Purple Seed — glowing faintly with mysterious life.
Ye Feng hesitated.
The Sword was straightforward. Attack, defense — easy to understand.
The Seed, however, was strange. Unpredictable.
"Mother left me the Heaven and Earth Refining Scripture... maybe it's connected."
Curious, Ye Feng quietly summoned the Purple Seed martial soul in his palm.
A small violet seed floated above his hand, pulsing slowly.
Then, following the method of the Scripture, he circulated a thread of his soul power into it.
At first, nothing happened.
But then—
The Seed shivered.
Tiny, almost invisible roots stretched out briefly before retracting.
More than that — Ye Feng could feel it.
The Seed was alive.
It wasn't just a martial soul.
It was a living being.
---
His heart pounded.
"It grew stronger after just a little bit of refining!"
He clenched his fist, dispersing the Seed back into his body.
Decision made.
He would start with the Seed.
He would forge a new path:
A Control-type Battle Soul Master, using the Seed to control the battlefield, support himself and allies — and crush enemies from the inside.
The Copper Sword could wait.
Maybe... when he was stronger, he could find a way to combine the two martial souls into something even greater.
But for now—
"The Seed is my root."
Ye Feng's eyes shone with quiet, burning determination.
---
As the sun climbed higher, the dirt road widened, and far ahead, massive stone walls rose against the horizon.
Notting City.
The boys quickened their steps, excitement and nervousness in their hearts.
Their real journey was about to begin.
And Ye Feng, carrying his mother's legacy and his own burning ambition,
was ready to carve his name into the heavens.
