"I'm so happy that I'm finally free from taking care of that little pig...I can be free and enjoy my time with you.." Augusta smiled, interwining her fingers with that of her lover's who was a much younger man than her. The man looked at her in the eye and scooted closer in the bed.
"Why did you even give birth to him?" he asked kissing her neck, which made his voice come out muffled. Augusta froze at the question, but forced a chuckle, saying "I...it was complicated....complicated pregnancy....that was it...". The man was so lost in pleasure that he just hummed in response, not paying any attention to her stutter.
"I can't bear to see that face again" Augusta spoke with a gruff which made the man giggle in her neck, Augusta laughed along because of tickle and the thought of never seeing the boy again. She turned to her lover, and hugged him, resting her head on his chest. "This is so beautiful..getting a man who really loves me even after knowing my profession. Life is beautiful, finally. I'm out of hell. I'll probably move somewhere with him and start fresh and have kids whom we both love" Augusta thought to herself, smiling like an idiot.
"Madam, allow me to give him some food. It has been three days... he will die" said one of the maids with fear etched on her face, her eyes never left the floor, she fidgeted with her fingers waiting for the response. Rosa Maria glared at her form sharply and sneered "If you care so much, why don't I put you in his place?". The maid froze, her fingers dug into her palm. She wanted to help the boy even a little, but not at the cost of her own life. "Madame, the boy is worth a fortune. He is business. Look at his face, he is a gem for you.." the lady spoke, with trembling hands. She felt guilty saying this but she had to, in order to provide the boy with some food. Her statement managed to persuade Rosa Maria, she agreed on giving the boy a piece of bread and water. The lady nodded and smiled to herself, hurrying to get the boy some food.
A blood curdling scream tore through the brothel.
"OH MY GOD!". The boy sat in there faintly smiling, mouth covered in blood, while holding a half eaten corpse of rat. The scream of that maid brought the entire people in the brothel to gather around that dark room. They all watched with wide eyes, covering their mouth, some even vomiting and gagging at the sight. "The kid is crazy! He is insane!" one of the maid shouted, clutching her chests and covering her mouth to avoid puking. Rosa Maria shoved the maids and ladies aside to make way for herself and see what had happened to cause such a commotion. She froze in her place, her cigarette fell from her fingers, her old eyes widened in disbelief. She was too stunned to speak for a minute. "Throw him out! Hurry! I can't bear his sight! Throw him away! I don't care of that fortune! Get him away from my sight before I die of a heart attack!" she yelled holding her head and running to the corner. She didn't turn around until the boy was dragged out of the brothel. The door were closed harshly at his face, he lied on the pavement with the blood still fresh on his face. His eyes were shining and his body didn't tremble.
"I'm free...." he says to himself with a smile, stood up, and started walking with his ripped teddy bear. He was barefoot, still dressed in that ripped dress they forced him to wear and his body was covered in dirt and blood stains. Walking for some time, he found a drain where he washed his face that had faint stains of blood from eating the rat. Despite his situation, he was at ease at having walked out of that brothel. "Where do I go now....would mom forgive me....?" The boy whispered to himself while walking. It has been hours since he was chased away from the brothel. He had not stopped in his track since then, fearing someone might take him again. He boy looked at his little hands, one that stabbed the old man in the eye. He stared at them for a while then rubbed them off on his already torn dress. "He touched my hand.....my legs....my face...I hate it....I hate everything...". He was feeling disgusted but was not crying anymore. He wiped the sweat from his face and clenched his fists. His beautiful eyes now looked empty and hollow.
"I wish I never existed. I wish my mom was here. I wish she care for me" the boy whispered to himself still walking aimlessly when gradually the neon and red colored lightings changed to pastel yellows. The dark and broken pathway turned into smooth roads, small broken and dirty houses turned into buildings. The boy looked up and blinked his eyes in confusion. "Am I dead....?" He whispered to himself rubbing his eyes with his small hands. All that he had seen throughout his life by now was drunk men, prostitutes, brothel, broken houses, crimes, white walls and suffering. The boy quickened his pace despite the pain in the curiousity to explore this new world. He saw those eyes of people looking at him, some with concern, some with disgust, while some with rueful smiles. "Those eyes.... they're looking at me....I hate it....I hate it when they look at me". The boy clutched his barely attached teddy bear tighter and kept his head down and continued walking into the city. He looked around with wide doe-like eyes, mouth agape. "Such huge houses…." he whispered in astonishement. He walked slowly on the smoother and well-built roads to enjoy his steps. He touched the grass and flowers on the side walk, smelled them, touched the trees that were at every corner, stopped and stared up the tall buildings, jumped up hearing the honks of cars.
What is all this..I have never seen a place like this. Would my mom love me if we lived in such a place, I wonder. I wish I lived here..
