Douqi Mainland, Zhongzhou, Shuangdiyuan.
"Boom!"
Heaven and earth trembled, the void shattered, and the energy of heaven and earth crazily gathered into a milky white vortex in the sky.
On the ground, countless people watched silently. Across the world, except for a few strong individuals, all humans and magical beasts bowed to the earth, gazing in awe at the sight above.
Only the young man in white standing mid-air had bright, fiery eyes. His gaze brimmed with fighting spirit, making even the void around him shudder.
The space around him quivered under the surge of his battle energy. It cracked and healed repeatedly, as if a single extra push would cause complete collapse. Looking at the two figures beside him, the crowd could only exclaim:
"The strength of a Dou Di... truly terrifying!"
Just the surge of his fighting spirit alone could tear the fabric of space — this was the true pinnacle of Douqi Mainland!
Behind the young man in white, four men, three women, and three children (around eleven or twelve years old) stood quietly.
The children clung to two of the beautiful women. The women bent slightly, cradling a younger child each.
Among them, a 13-14-year-old girl floated steadily mid-air. Her aura — astonishingly — had already reached the late eight-star Dou Zun level!
Such talent, across the whole Douqi Mainland, was exceedingly rare.
Yet, despite her strength, her bright eyes glistened with unshed tears as she stared at the figure before her.
This heartbreaking scene was mirrored by the children and two beautiful women. Their red eyes betrayed their deep reluctance, but none dared to look away — fearful that this would be the last time they'd ever see him.
The two beautiful women, Xun'er and Cai Lin, gazed at the young man, their lips trembling, wanting to speak but words failing them. Instead, they chose faith — believing wholeheartedly in his strength.
"Finally... I've waited for this day. Looks like the ancestors were right — Dou Di isn't the end. There is indeed a realm beyond!"Xiao Yan muttered, staring at the jade bottle in his hand. Deep within his pupils, a colorful flame danced.
At this moment, Xiao Yan felt his long-dormant fighting spirit begin to fluctuate wildly.
"Alas... If I had been there when Xiao Xuan broke through, perhaps he wouldn't have vanished from this world..."Gu Yuan sighed bitterly beside him, his face filled with regret.
Hearing this, Xiao Yan smiled and said reassuringly:
"Hehe, father-in-law, don't worry. Ancestor Xiao Xuan hasn't truly disappeared from this world..."
"You—what? Xiao Xuan... he's alive?!"Gu Yuan and Xiao Zhan were both stunned. Even the usually composed Zhu Kun looked startled.
After Xiao Yan explained, they finally understood — he had saved Xiao Xuan's soul origin!
"Haha! I knew it! With his strength, how could he simply vanish?"Gu Yuan laughed heartily, looking visibly younger.
The heavy guilt he'd carried — for the Xiao Clan's destruction after Xiao Xuan's death — finally lifted.
"But Xiao Yan, you little rascal... keeping this from me for so many years! Making me feel guilty! When you return, you owe me a proper apology!"Gu Yuan slapped Xiao Yan's shoulder with mock anger, drawing a chuckle from Xiao Yan.
Sensing the heaviness returning to Gu Yuan's face, Xiao Yan quickly smiled and continued:
"Father-in-law, it's not that I kept it on purpose. I just wasn't sure until now... But today, I'm certain — I can resurrect Ancestor Xiao Xuan!"
"As for this trip... I don't know if I'll survive. But I will give it my all... and come back to apologize properly."
Xiao Yan's gaze was firm.
Then, ignoring Gu Yuan's reddened eyes, Xiao Yan turned his attention toward the swirling, milky vortex in the sky.
Behind his back, his aura fell completely silent — like an ordinary mortal.
Yet, invisible to the eye, a terrifying sword-like momentum shot from him, piercing through the sky.
Over the past decade, Xiao Yan had traveled countless ancient tombs. Most clues were scattered or destroyed, but a year ago, he had a strong premonition — the secret to resurrecting Xiao Xuan was near.
And now, standing before the Milky Vortex, Xiao Yan knew:
"Ancestor Xiao Xuan... Xiao Yan will finally repay your kindness!"
Turning around, Xiao Yan gathered Xun'er and Cai Lin — along with the children — into his arms. He inhaled deeply their faint fragrances and said in a low, reluctant voice:
"Take care of yourselves... and the children... until I return."
The two women silently nodded, biting their lips to hold back their sobs.
Then, Xiao Yan knelt to whisper to the little girl:
"Xiao Xiao, as the eldest sister, you have to take care of your two little brothers, okay?"
Hearing this, Xiao Xiao could no longer hold back. She hugged Xiao Yan's neck tightly and cried aloud, her tiny shoulders trembling.
Seeing this, Xun'er and Cai Lin wiped away their own tears, their hearts breaking.
Xiao Yan quickly suppressed his emotions. He lifted Xiao Xiao, smiled warmly, and teased:
"Hey now, it's not like I'm dying! I'm just going somewhere else for a while. Don't you believe in my strength?"
Hearing his words, Xun'er and Cai Lin quickly forced themselves to smile, though their eyes were still misty.
Xiao Yan then turned to look at two elderly figures standing nearby.
First — his father, Xiao Zhan!
The man who had supported him unwaveringly through his darkest years.
Second — Yao Lao!
The teacher who had turned his despair into strength.
Without these two, Xiao Yan wouldn't have become what he was today.
In a rare gesture, Xiao Yan knelt in midair, facing Yao Lao and Xiao Zhan, and kowtowed ten times!
"Thank you for your nurturing, Father. Thank you for your teaching, Teacher. Your unfilial son can only hope you take good care of yourselves after I leave!"
Seeing this, even the heavens seemed to grow solemn.
The two elders, overcome with emotion, smiled with tears in their eyes.
Turning next to Zhu Kun, Xiao Yan asked:
"Uncle Zhu Kun, where's Zi Yan? She's not here to see me off?"
Zhu Kun chuckled mysteriously:
"Don't worry, Xiao Yan. The girl has her own way of saying goodbye. You'll understand in time. Go without worry, hahaha!"
Xiao Yan smiled bitterly but said no more.
Facing the assembled crowd — Liu Qing, Wu Hao, and the many friends who had helped him along the way — Xiao Yan bowed deeply one last time.
Without hesitation, he turned and walked toward the swirling Milky Vortex.
At that moment, everyone — young and old — cupped their fists together, bowed, and shouted:
"CONGRATULATIONS TO EMPEROR YAN! CONGRATULATIONS TO EMPEROR YAN!..."
The cry rolled across the continent like thunder.
No one used Douqi to amplify their voice — just their raw, heartfelt cheers.Even so, the sound shook the very bones of heaven and earth.
And they shouted not for obligation... but for respect.
For the one who saved their world — Emperor Yan: Xiao Yan!
