Chapter 1 - The Last Day of Boring Life

Katekuna Yuki stared blankly at the endless parade of numbers on his monitor. Another email, another complaint, another project shoved onto his already overflowing plate. Somewhere in the background, his boss's voice droned on—a relentless buzz of scolding that blended into the office hum like a broken radio.

"...I expect those reports before noon tomorrow, Katekuna! No excuses!"

"Yes, sir," he replied, though he doubted the man even heard him. Or cared.

The fluorescent lights above buzzed like angry bees. The air smelled faintly of burnt coffee and crushed dreams. Life was a monochrome painting—and Katekuna was its most forgettable brushstroke.

In a moment of quiet rebellion, he minimized his spreadsheets and opened his browser. Maybe, just maybe, he could find something to kill time before his soul completely withered away.

Scrolling mindlessly, he stumbled across a newly posted novel: "The World's Luckiest Liar."

Huh. Sounds stupid enough to be interesting.

Out of curiosity—and desperation—he clicked it open and began reading.

Within minutes, he was hooked. The main character wasn't some stoic hero or chosen one. No, he was a shameless slacker armed with two absurd powers: *Extreme Luck* and the ability to tell lies that everyone would believe. Somehow, despite causing disaster after disaster, the world itself bent over backward to protect him.

Katekuna found himself grinning—a real, genuine grin he hadn't felt in months.

*If only real life worked like that...*

The clock struck the end of his shift, and he practically bolted from his seat. He couldn't wait to continue reading at home, to escape into that ridiculous, wonderful world.

But fate, it seemed, had a different story planned.

Walking home, Katekuna noticed an old lady at a crosswalk, struggling with her bags. A truck rumbled down the road—faster than it should have. Then the driver slumped forward, unconscious.

Time slowed.

Without thinking, Katekuna sprinted forward, shoving the old lady to safety.

The last thing he saw was a wall of steel bearing down on him—and a sky that somehow seemed... brighter than usual.

---

Warm grass brushed against his skin.

Katekuna blinked awake to a clear blue sky and the panicked cries of a man kneeling before him, robes fluttering wildly.

"I-I'm sorry! I truly am! This was not supposed to happen! P-please forgive me!" the robed man babbled, forehead pressed to the ground.

Katekuna sat up, dazed. "Where... am I?"

The man lifted his head, revealing tearful eyes behind golden spectacles. "I-I'm a god! There was... an accident! A mistake! You—uh—you weren't supposed to die, but, ahaha, funny thing, you kinda did! S-sorry!"

The words barely registered.

"You mean... I'm dead?"

The god nodded frantically. "But not for long! I'll fix it! I'll make it right! You'll get a second chance—in another world! Isn't that exciting? Very exciting!"

Before Katekuna could even open his mouth to object, a brilliant light engulfed him.

The world spun, twisted, unraveled—

—and he slammed face-first into soft earth.

Groaning, he pushed himself up.

Silver strands of hair fell into his vision.

He caught his reflection in a puddle: unfamiliar face, sharper features, silver eyes gleaming with something strange and powerful.

And then... voices. Shouts. Footsteps.

Villagers rushed toward him, wide-eyed and breathless.

Panicking, Katekuna muttered under his breath, "I'm a prince or something, right?"

The villagers dropped to their knees in unison.

"Hail, Prince Arashi!"

Katekuna froze.

His heart pounded.

*Wait... did they just believe that?!*

And somewhere deep inside, a warm, chaotic power stirred—ready to turn every ridiculous word he spoke into his new reality.

Katekuna—no, Kaze Arashi, apparently—stared at the kneeling villagers, jaw slack.

This had to be a dream. Or a coma. Or some twisted isekai prank show.

"Prince Arashi," one of the older villagers said, eyes sparkling with reverence. "Your return was foretold! The heir of the Silver Wind, reborn under the twin moons!"

Kaze blinked. "The... Silver Wind?"

"Yes!" another villager piped up. "The prophecy said you'd appear in a flash of light, hair like moonlight, eyes like destiny itself!"

That... sounded suspiciously like him. Thanks, I guess, extreme luck?

A child approached, wide-eyed and trembling, holding out a piece of parchment. "M-Mister Prince, can you show us your status screen? So we may confirm the divine signs?"

Status screen?

He remembered it from the novel. In this world, everyone had one. Just think the words, and boom—holographic resume of your soul.

Kaze blinked. *Status screen?* Oh right, that was a thing in these kinds of worlds.

He focused. *Open status.*

A soft chime echoed in his ears as a glowing panel flickered into view—but only for *him*.

Okay... cool, but how was he supposed to *show* this to them?

The child held out a scroll with glowing runes. "Y-you just place your hand here, and it'll display your blessings for everyone to see!"

Kaze froze. *Oh no. That sounds like the opposite of what I want to happen.*

Still, he smiled and slapped his hand onto the scroll.

Nothing happened.

The scroll flickered… and then went dark.

"..."

Everyone stared.

Then the elder gasped, loud and dramatic, as if he'd just witnessed divine intervention.

"His blessings... are *concealed*! Hidden even from the Sacred Scroll!"

Gasps and murmurs swept through the crowd.

"Only gods and chosen heroes can hide their statuses!"

"He must be from the Forbidden Lineage!"

"No wonder the stars aligned when he fell from the sky!"

Kaze blinked. "I mean, yeah. That sounds exactly right."

**New Title Acquired: Unreadable Legend**

*When your status screen is too mysterious for public consumption.*

---

More kneeling. More awe. One guy started crying.

Kaze coughed, suddenly overwhelmed. "Y-you don't have to kneel, really. I'm super casual royalty. Very approachable. Big fan of the common folk."

That only made them bow *lower.*

Before he could stop the spiral of worship, the crowd parted.

Boots clicked on cobblestone. A woman in flowing white robes stepped forward, flanked by armored guards. Her eyes gleamed like polished glass, sharp and calculating.

She stopped in front of him, expression unreadable.

"I am Priestess Elvira of the Celestial Church," she said. "We received a divine signal. A new blessed one has arrived."

She tilted her head, eyes narrowing.

"And yet… I sense no divine aura."

Kaze's grin wobbled. "Oh. Yeah. Uh, stealth mode. It's a feature."

Elvira raised a brow. "Stealth... mode."

"Yup. Super high-tier blessing. Hidden even from priest senses. Probably too advanced, honestly. Dangerous if you're not careful. Boom. Reality breaks. Very unstable."

Her expression didn't change. "I see."

*No you don't,* Kaze thought.

She gestured to her guards. "Escort him to the capital. The Church will need to verify his status through higher means."

Kaze panicked. *Higher means?! Like divine lie detectors?!*

"Wait!" he blurted. "I—I need to complete the Rite of the Local Napping Ritual!"

Elvira blinked. "...The what?"

"The ancient rite," Kaze said solemnly. "It's tradition for divine beings to sleep in the first inn they see, eat questionable stew, and gamble away copper coins. Everyone knows this."

The villagers *nodded fervently*.

"It's true! Grandpa told me the same!"

"A true hero always starts in a tavern!"

Priestess Elvira's eye twitched. "…Fine. But I'll be watching."

---

### Scene 4: The Inn of Slightly Questionable Cleanliness

Ten minutes later, Kaze was soaking in a wooden tub big enough to drown a halfling, steam curling around his silver hair. A plate of mystery stew and a tankard of lukewarm beer sat nearby.

He sighed in bliss. "Okay... this is fine. This is manageable. I just need to keep lying my way through this world. No big deal."

A notification dinged.

**New Passive Skill Acquired: Casual Bullshittery (F)**

*You lie better when half-asleep, covered in soup, or emotionally unprepared.*

---

He snorted. "I am going to abuse the hell out of this."

A knock came from the door.

"Sir Prince," the innkeeper's voice called nervously. "The priestess sent a letter. Something about a 'divine verification ritual' happening at dawn…"

Kaze paled. "Aw crap."

The sun hadn't even risen yet when a group of armored riders arrived at the inn.

Kaze blinked groggily as he was hauled out of bed by a nervous innkeeper.

"The High Priestess requests your presence for divine verification," the man whispered, trembling. "They're going to test your aura, blessings, and truth-of-soul."

Kaze's eye twitched. *Truth-of-what now?!*

Moments later, he stood barefoot on a marble circle surrounded by glowing runes, in the middle of a temple that looked entirely too judgmental for his taste.

Priestess Elvira stood on a raised platform, hands clasped behind her back.

A dozen clerics chanted. Mana surged around the platform like rippling water. The runes began to glow hotter, brighter.

"Now, we shall begin," Elvira said. "If you are truly blessed, the Divine Circle will react in kind."

Kaze felt sweat roll down his back.

He raised his hand dramatically. "WAIT!"

Everyone froze.

He pointed to the sky. "It would be… blasphemous to verify me now. For the *Sign* hasn't yet appeared."

Elvira narrowed her eyes. "The Sign?"

"Yes. The Celestial... uh... Rainbow Comet of Infinite Fortune," he said, stringing words together like confetti. "It appears at sunrise. Only then may divine truth be revealed."

Whispers broke out among the clergy.

"I've never heard of that…"

"Is it in the Fifth Testament?"

"It must be in the *Secret* chapters!"

Elvira's gaze remained locked on him. "And where exactly should we expect this comet?"

Kaze puffed his chest and jabbed a finger toward the horizon. "Right above that mountain. It glows pink and blue. Looks like a banana. It's very... sacred."

The sun crested the hill.

No comet.

Kaze panicked.

Just as Elvira opened her mouth to speak—

A bird flew past.

Then another.

A flock of strange tropical birds, dyed from the nearby festival, soared overhead in shimmering colors.

One of them pooped a rainbow arc across the sky.

The clergy gasped.

"There! The Sign!"

"It's glorious!"

"Elara's Wings of Wonder!"

Even Elvira paused, mouth slightly open.

Kaze fell to his knees. "Behold! The Rainbow Comet… blessed be its dumb shape!"

---

**Lie Believed: [The Celestial Rainbow Comet of Infinite Fortune] has been added to local religious lore.**

**New Title Acquired: Sky Prophet (Temporary)**

*You said something so stupid the gods momentarily considered smiting you but decided to roll with it.*

---

A robed bishop bowed deeply. "Forgive our doubts, Lord Arashi. The signs are clear."

Elvira exhaled slowly, then nodded. "...It seems you pass—for now."

Kaze smiled serenely. Internally, he screamed.

By midday, word had spread.

Children were throwing flower petals at his feet.

A blacksmith asked him to bless his anvil.

A baker offered free pastries in exchange for "one lie that turns my wife nice again."

Kaze sat at the center of the village plaza, on a makeshift throne made of crates and hay, wearing a borrowed priest's robe that was two sizes too small. His silver hair shimmered in the sunlight like some divine anime protagonist, and he was deeply, thoroughly, completely dying inside.

"Lord Arashi," a farmer asked reverently, bowing low, "is it true that placing chicken feathers in my boots will make me immune to foot rot?"

Kaze opened his mouth to say no—

—but saw the crowd's eager faces.

He smiled. "Absolutely. In fact, the more feathers, the holier your feet."

The farmer burst into tears and ran off yelling about sanctified toes.

*Kaze internally screamed for the fifteenth time.*

Nearby, the priestess Elvira watched from a temple balcony, arms crossed and eyes narrowed. "He speaks in riddles," she muttered. "True prophets often do."

One of her attendants nodded. "There's a... divine madness about him."

"Yes," Elvira said, voice grave. "We must tread carefully. Men like him are either messengers... or catastrophes."

---

Meanwhile, back on the plaza:

"Tell us, O Luminous One," said an old woman, "what does the future hold?"

Kaze wiped a sweat bead from his brow.

"The future," he said grandly, "holds a golden goat."

"A... goat?" she blinked.

"Yes. A goat that shall sneeze thrice—and the harvest will be blessed."

Cheers erupted.

Someone began carving a wooden statue of the goat.

Kaze leaned back, gripping his crate-throne like it was a lifeline. "How is this my life now?"

Suddenly, a familiar ding echoed in his ears.

Kaze stared at the air in front of him.

"This is fine," he muttered.

Somewhere in the distance, a goat actually sneezed three times.

The crowd exploded into chants of *"BLESSED BE THE GOAT!"*

Kaze put his head in his hands.

"...I need a drink."
