Chapter 17 - Pt.17: The Awakening of a New God

Liam's entire body vibrated with unstable energy, his mind expanding beyond human comprehension.

> System Synchronization: 85%... 90%... 98%...

The world around him shifted, as if he was no longer just a part of it, but rewriting it.

The moment his eyes snapped open, everything changed.

The air hummed with unseen power.

Time slowed to a crawl.

Xavier's calm smirk faded.

He felt it too.

Liam wasn't a normal System User anymore.

He had become something different. Something terrifying.

---

Xavier vs. The Unbound

Xavier tilted his head, studying Liam with an emotion that resembled… curiosity.

"Well," he said, "this is unexpected."

Liam exhaled, his breath visible in the charged air.

For the first time, he could see the System for what it truly was.

Not just an enhancement tool.

Not just a mechanism for evolution.

It was a reality framework.

And now?

Liam wasn't just inside it.

He was rewriting it.

Xavier's stance shifted—his first real sign of caution.

Liam smirked.

"Got you."

Then he moved.

Not as a human. Not as a System User.

But as something beyond both.

Xavier reacted instantly, flicking his fingers.

A wave of invisible force—strong enough to crush a car—ripped through the air, aimed directly at Liam.

But Liam saw it before it happened.

He tilted his head slightly—

And the wave missed.

Xavier's eyes narrowed.

No one had ever dodged his attacks like that.

Liam vanished.

Then reappeared right in front of Xavier.

His fist lashed out—faster than lightning.

BOOM!

Xavier blocked just in time, but the shockwave sent him skidding backward.

Dust and debris exploded outward.

Liam watched him carefully.

"He's strong, but he's not invincible."

Xavier dusted off his suit, his gaze sharp.

"Interesting. You're not just breaking the System's rules. You're rewriting them."

Liam's smirk widened.

"Exactly."

---

The True Origin of the System

Xavier exhaled slowly, then did something Liam didn't expect.

He lowered his hands.

"I suppose," he said, "you've earned some answers."

Liam's brows furrowed.

"What's he up to?"

But his System didn't warn him of an immediate attack.

Xavier continued.

"The System… It isn't human technology. It wasn't created on Earth."

Liam's heart pounded.

"What?"

Xavier took a step forward, his aura subtly shifting.

"The System is a fragment of something much, much larger."

"A higher intelligence. A cosmic construct."

Liam's mind raced.

The System wasn't just a tool—it was a piece of something far beyond human understanding.

"You're lying," Liam said coldly.

Xavier smiled. "Am I?"

Liam's System flashed violently, as if reacting to something… awakening.

> New Data Unlocked: The True System Archive.

Suddenly, images flooded Liam's mind.

A colossal structure drifting in space, pulsing with infinite knowledge.

Beings—not human, not even biological—constructing a network of reality-altering programs.

A great war, fought across dimensions, as factions tried to seize control of the System.

And finally—a fragment of that power falling to Earth.

Liam staggered back.

"This System… it's not meant for us."

Xavier's voice was calm, patient.

"You see it now, don't you?"

Liam's breathing was heavy.

"This thing… it's a piece of a larger machine."

"Correct," Xavier said, hands still in his pockets. "And we? We are merely players in a game we don't fully understand."

---

The Choice That Would Change Everything

Xavier's expression hardened.

"There are two types of people, Carter. Those who control the System… and those who are controlled by it."

Liam's fists clenched.

"And you? You're trying to be a controller?"

Xavier's smile returned.

"No. I already am."

Liam's breath hitched.

Xavier wasn't just a System User.

He was someone who had learned how to manipulate the very foundation of the System itself.

And now?

He was offering Liam a place beside him.

> Decision Point Unlocked:

1) Accept Xavier's offer and join the true controllers of the System.

2) Reject him and forge your own path—at the cost of making him an enemy.

Liam's mind screamed with possibilities.

If he joined Xavier, he'd gain knowledge, power, access to things no one else could even dream of.

But if he did?

He'd be part of something bigger, something darker.

Something that might mean sacrificing everything he stood for.

He exhaled, his decision clear.

Liam clenched his fists.

And he said—

"Screw your offer."

---

The War Begins

Xavier's smile didn't fade.

Instead, it widened.

"I expected as much."

Liam shifted into a combat stance, his new power radiating around him.

Xavier simply adjusted his cuffs.

"You're powerful, Carter. More than I expected. But you're also… naive."

Liam's muscles tensed.

"Naive?"

Xavier met his gaze, his tone deadly serious.

"You think this war is between us?" He shook his head. "This war is much, much bigger than that."

Liam's System blared another warning.

> INCOMING GLOBAL SYSTEM EVENT.

UNKNOWN FORCES MOVING.

WORLD-LEVEL THREAT DETECTED.

Liam's blood ran cold.

This wasn't just about Vance.

This wasn't just about Xavier.

The real war was about to begin.

And the entire world was at stake.

---

The Beginning of the End

Liam felt it before he saw it.

A shift in reality itself.

A deep, unseen force pulsing beneath existence—something ancient, powerful, and completely beyond human comprehension.

His System's alarms were screaming.

> WARNING: GLOBAL SYSTEM EVENT DETECTED.

SOURCE: UNKNOWN COSMIC ENTITY.

ESTIMATED IMPACT: TOTAL SYSTEM RESTRUCTURING.

Liam's breath hitched.

"Total System restructuring? What the hell does that mean?"

He turned back to Xavier, who stood calmly, his hands still in his pockets, as if he had been waiting for this moment.

"You feel it now, don't you?" Xavier murmured.

Liam gritted his teeth.

"What the hell is coming?"

Xavier's eyes gleamed.

"The real architects of the System."

---

The Incoming Threat: Beyond Earth's Control

Liam's mind raced as the System fed him fragmented data.

> SOURCE: EXTERNAL SYSTEM ARCHITECTS.

ORIGIN: EXTRA-DIMENSIONAL SOURCE.

OBJECTIVE: SYSTEM REBOOT OR TERMINATION.

His blood ran cold.

"Reboot or termination?"

"You're telling me the System isn't just changing… it might be completely erased?"

Xavier nodded.

"The System has existed for millennia, Carter. But it was never meant to stay static."

He gestured to the sky above them.

"Every few thousand years, the Architects return to 'reclaim' the system. If it isn't functioning according to their design… they wipe it clean. A full reset."

Liam's jaw tightened.

"Then why the hell are you so calm?"

Xavier's smirk returned.

"Because, Carter, I've been preparing for this for a long time."

Liam's eyes narrowed.

"This bastard knew all along."

---

A Choice That Will Shape the Future

Xavier took another step forward, his presence suffocating.

"You're powerful, Carter. But you're still just a fragment of what you could be."

He pointed to Liam's glowing veins, his energy pulsing unnaturally.

"You broke past Level 3. That was just the beginning. But if you really want to survive what's coming… you need to evolve again. Past Level 4. Past the limits of what the System was designed for."

Liam's fists clenched.

The System Architects were coming to either RESET or DESTROY everything.

His mind calculated at lightning speed.

If he stayed within the System's normal evolution, he would never reach the power needed to stop them.

But if he pushed beyond the System's original design…

He could become something even the Architects couldn't control.

> New Evolution Path Unlocked:

1) Ascension to Level 4 (Stay within the System's framework, gain immense power, but remain bound to its laws).

2) System Breaker (Dismantle the System's restrictions, rewrite reality as an independent existence).

3) The Forbidden Upgrade (Absorb the System itself, becoming a force capable of challenging the Architects).

Liam's heart pounded.

Each choice had permanent consequences.

Option 1: Would let him fight within the rules.

Option 2: Would let him break the System's control.

Option 3: Would make him something entirely new—but dangerously unstable.

Xavier's voice was cold, knowing.

"This isn't just about you anymore, Carter. It's about the future of every System User. Every human that's been altered by it."

Liam exhaled sharply.

Then—he made his choice.

"I'm not just going to fight inside their game."

He looked up, his eyes burning with new understanding.

"I'm going to rewrite the game itself."

> Chosen Evolution Path: SYSTEM BREAKER.

Warning: Proceeding will remove all restrictions and place you in direct opposition to the Architects.

Do you accept?

Liam's smirk returned.

"Bring it on."

---

The System's Final Evolution

The moment he accepted, Liam's body exploded with light.

The System screamed in resistance.

> ERROR! SYSTEM FRAMEWORK VIOLATION!

USER IS REJECTING CORE LIMITATIONS.

WARNING: UNSTABLE POWER SURGE IMMINENT.

Xavier's eyes widened slightly.

Then, for the first time, he laughed.

"Now this… this is going to be fun."

Liam gritted his teeth, his entire being reshaping itself.

He was no longer Level 3.

No longer Level 4.

He was something outside the System's rules entirely.

And when the Architects arrived?

They would face the first being in history who could fight back.

Liam Carter—the System Breaker.
