Chapter 1 - Going College with Beautiful Girl

It was a clear day, when the sun was high in the sky and the train station was full of people.

At this moment, Zane walked out of the train with his bag, and behind him was a young girl.

"Aubrey, do you have anywhere else to go first or want to go together with me?"

The young girl, named Aubrey immediately said, "Let's go together. After putting bags in the dorm, I want us to go for dinner. Is that okay?"

"Of course. How can I miss dinner with a beautiful girl."

Aubrey blushed a little and hummed as they walked.

Zane looked at Aubrey and couldn't help but feel that his luck was really turning around as that fortune teller said.

In the train, the sleeping couch had two beds, and every time he rode the train alone, it was always a middle aged man or old lady, but this time, he encountered a beautiful girl as his partner.

In the ten hours long journey, he had spent a good time with this young lady, and his luck was also over the top, because he was able to help when a pervert harassing her, getting a hero image in her mind, and with his good looks and personality, and with how his luck is right now, he feels that he might able to get this girl.

The best way to forget an ex-girlfriend is to get a new girlfriend.

Moreover, Aubrey was really a beauty. She had long, black hair tied neatly into a loose ponytail that hung over one shoulder. Her hair was smooth and slightly shiny in the sunlight. Her skin was clear and light brown, with a healthy, even tone. She had a small, round face with soft features. Her eyebrows were well-shaped, and her large, dark brown eyes were framed by a pair of round black glasses that made her look smart and gentle at the same time.

Her nose was small and straight, and her lips were soft-looking and naturally pink, shaped in a calm, closed smile most of the time. She wore a pink dress that was made of a light, flowy fabric. It had a single thin strap on one side, while the other side was sleeveless, showing her smooth shoulder.

The dress wrapped across her chest in neat folds. She wasn't very busty, but she had a modest and natural chest that matched her slim body well.

Her arms were slender, and her hands looked delicate with long fingers and short, clean nails. The dress flowed down to her knees, showing her legs as she walked. Her legs were shapely and smooth, and her posture was straight but relaxed, giving her a calm, confident look. She walked with quiet steps beside Zane, looking around the busy station with a hint of curiosity in her eyes.

It was the first time she had arrived in such a big city.

She was curious about everything but she had to go to college and get everything registered before she explored this city.

Zane and Aubrey walked together.

"Looks like everyone's in a rush today. Finding a taxi might be a challenge," Zane said as they were finally out of the train station and looked at roads that seemed too busy to get a taxi.

"I know, right? I didn't think it would be this crowded. Do people usually travel this much during the weekday?" Aubrey complained as she sat on top of her suitcase.

"Yeah. Welcome to city life," Zane said with a shrug, adjusting the strap of his backpack as he scanned the bustling street ahead of them.

Aubrey chuckled, brushing a strand of hair from her face as a breeze passed by. "Haha, I guess I need to get used to it. Back home, things were way slower. Even the bus driver would stop to chat with people."

Zane raised an eyebrow, amused. "Seriously? That sounds… kinda nice, actually. Less stress. But hey, the city has a lot of things to make things interesting."

"I believe that." Aubrey looked around again, "It's already exciting, even if it's a bit overwhelming."

Zane gave her a reassuring smile. "If it gets too much, just stick with me. I'm a pro at navigating through crowds."

Aubrey smirked, nudging him lightly with her elbow. "Oh? A city guide and a bodyguard all in one package?"

He grinned, placing a hand on his chest in mock pride. "Exactly. A very exclusive service, only available for beautiful girls who share train cabins with me."

A soft laugh escaped her lips as she adjusted her glasses. "Then I'm lucky I got the right cabin."

Zane looked at her for a moment, a glint in his eyes. "And I'm lucky the universe finally decided to reward me."

"That's pretty smooth, Zane," Aubrey said, raising an eyebrow, but the faint blush on her cheeks betrayed her amusement.

"I try." His eyes suddenly flicked to the road. "Oh—look, that taxi's slowing down. Want me to wave it down?"

"Of course, please!" Aubrey exclaimed, shifting slightly on her suitcase. "I'd rather not sit on this thing any longer."

Zane stepped forward briskly, raising his hand to signal the taxi. "Got it! But it feels nice to look at you."

Aubrey stood up quickly, brushing the back of her dress and giving him a playful glare. "You're getting smooth again."

As the taxi pulled up to the curb, Zane flashed a grin. "I can't help it. It's the city air—it makes me charming."

Laughing softly, Aubrey lifted her bag with both hands. "Well, city air must be really something."

Zane told taxi driver destination and opened the taxi door and made a slight bow, his tone theatrical. "Your carriage awaits, milady."

Rolling her eyes in mock exasperation, Aubrey stepped into the vehicle. "Thank you, kind sir."

Zane slid in after her, and shut the door with a satisfying click. "Next stop, college dorms and then dinner."

Aubrey smiled as she was about to say yes, when her phone chimed. She looked at the phone scene and smiled appeared on her face as she said, "Yeah. By the way, with us, my boyfriend will also come."

Zane blinked. He turned his head slowly, a confused smile tugging at his lips. "Your boy… boyfriend?"

She nodded casually, glancing out the window with a soft, dreamy look. "Hm. He's a year older than me, same hometown."

Zane's smile froze for a second, but he managed to recover quickly. "So… you're meeting him after many months, right?"

"Yup," Aubrey replied, her tone light and cheerful. "Twelve months. I'm excited to see him."

Zane gave a short laugh and forced a smile, looking ahead. "I'm happy for you."

But inside, his thoughts spiraled.

Fuck… I should've asked if she had a boyfriend back in the train cabin. Now look at me—can't back off without being rude, and I'm stuck going to dinner with a couple.

He glanced sideways at her, her expression glowing with anticipation and joy.

Great. The universe didn't reward me—it just played a prank.

Still smiling, he nodded politely and leaned back, letting his head hit the seat.

"That's… really nice," he said aloud, though the words felt heavy in his mouth.
