It was absolute anarchy, there were fire in every part of the city and explosions rang out at consistent intervals. Marcus could see people fleeing in every direction just to run into a different danger. There were people fighting in almost every street and even from so high up he could already see bodies scattered all over the place. As he was watching a bright light lit the sky on the other side of the city trumpeting the death of a god. Marcus felt the pull of the world and knew he had to hurry. Focusing his will he swept down to the outskirts of the massive city looking for someone who had died in a safer area, he didn't want to get killed right after entering this new world. It did not take him long to find a group of bodies that looked to have been killed a bit ago if the drying blood was anything to go by. Quickly picking the admittedly jacked human man, Marcus latched on and pushed.
"Urggg!" he groaned out sounding like a zombie as he rolled over and looked down at the now closed gash that had ran across his entire torso. He raised his head and looked around and upon seeing no one he jumped to his feet and promptly stumbled over and face planted back onto the pile of bodies. He felt his stomach revolt at the smell that suddenly crashed into him and with the added sensation of feeling the squishy and bloody parts that covered him and the used to be person below him, he promptly threw up only adding to sludge of nasty he was laying in. getting his arms under himself he again stood up this time only stumbling as he worked on getting used to his new body. The man he took over was over a foot and a half taller than he had been along with being way wider.
"Damn this guy is stoked." Marcus muttered while looking at his bicep.
Looking around the street he was on he confirmed he was alone but for how long he didn't know he had to find a safe area and wait out the carnage. Looking at the houses that lined the street he saw they looked mostly abandoned and run down. He decided to distance himself from the pile of bodies before going to ground. As he ran down the road he was also going over what he would need mainly food and water. Passing through an intersection he saw a cart loaded with vegetables. Quickly making his way over he grabbed a sack from a nearby stand and started loading apples, carrots and anything else that would last a little while. He looked up at a crash that sounded like it was close but after listening for close to five minutes with nothing happening he continued filling the bag. He noticed that he was in some sort of market and after seeing some clothing in another stall he grabbed some of those as well hopefully they would fit he thought. Going through the other stalls and carts he was able to gather a few bags of valis and even a large knife. At the last stall he even found a pan some meat, he had no clue what from and even some spices. Finishing his little supply run he turned and sprinted back to his starting street and continued in the direction he was going before right toward the wall.
He found the perfect place behind a partially collapsed house it used to be a sort of workshop for the same collapsed house. It was build stout with large stone block walls and best of all it had a chimney and a heavy solid door. Marcus almost did a little happy dance when the door turned out to be unlocked and after unloading his supplies he used a heavy beam that sat next to the door to bar it from the inside. Taking a moment to look around he confirmed that yep this place had not been used in a long time dirt and dust caked everything inside. The only things of note where the forge in the back and a place he assumed the anvil would have gone it had obviously been looted or stripped a while ago along with everything else worth anything. Walking over to one of the two doors in the building bar the one he came through, Marcus opened it to find a sort of storage area that was just as empty as the main building. The next held something way better, a simple leather cot sat in a corner along with another door that held a toilet seat it even flushed. He had no clue this world had flushing toilets and now that he thought that thank god… Gods? The bathroom even had a small sink tucked next to the toilet.
Feeling a lot better about his choices and current situation, Marcus brought all his stolen supplies into the small room and sat down on the cot. It creaked but held just fine even though this body probably weighed close to three hundred pounds. Marcus took out an apple and started to eat as he reviewed the information he was able to get on his magic. While a lot of the knowledge for Corpo and Astro Magics didn't stick he was able to get most of what he could do with Teramancy. Focusing his mind he reached out for his magic and like a limb that he never knew he had it was there. He reached out through the soles of his boots feeling earth all around him. He felt the vibrations in the distance which seemed to be slowing down.
"This should be the last night of the attack." Marcus mused as he reached through the earth getting a feel for the new power he now had.
Astromancy was going to be a bit harder he reached out again with his magic and was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was. The space around him was mapped by his magic and he could feel everything inside the shop he was in. it was a sort of spatial awareness that kicked the ass of his sight as he could get a complete three hundred and sixty degree view of his surroundings with none of that cant process so much info stuff that you read about in stories. His magic was like his vision you see a whole hell of a lot more than you realize and your mind processes that just fine. It was like the space was his body and he could feel anything pressing against it. Movement was especially attention grabbing as a rodent that ran down the far wall and into a small hole showed him.
Marcus focused on the fall corner of the shop and using his new magic willed himself to teleport. A disorienting wave nausea hit him hard as he appeared on the other side of the shop. Leaning against the wall he waited until the dizziness faded before walking back to the cot. Sitting back down he decided to come back to the space stuff and focused on his Corpomancy. The magic was just as easy as the other two and responded instantly. He could feel his entire body inside and out and instinctively he knew he could change himself. Deciding to follow this feeling he reached out with his will and focused on his face willing it to change into what he remembered his face to be like. The change was slow and his face itched something fierce but thankfully the itch went away after he stopped the change. Looking into a broken piece of mirror he picked up from the floor Marcus added some finishing touches to his new face.
Marcus continued with his magical practice and body shaping for the next few days he rarely ventured out of the small shop he was in only leaving once go and look for some blankets and a pillow which thankfully he was able to buy from a little old woman who owned a small tailors shop near where he stole his previous supplies. The fight from the first night had finally dwindled to nothing as the sun came up almost as if it chased away the evil along with the darkness. It took another entire day and night before people started to come out of the homes and hidey holes. Marcus had awoken on the third day by a steadily rising sound of activity as the city became alive again. Marcus had gone to see if he could find a pillow as well as get any information on the situation he could find. Lucky the old woman was more than happy to share what she knew.
"Damn evil gods bit off more than they could chew I tell ya." she droned as he was counting out three hundred Valis for the pillow and rough blanket. After thanking the woman he headed right back to his bolt hole making sure to check if he was followed. Paranoia is a survival skill he was working on perfecting because it could someday save his life case in point he was able to notice the group of three men following him well before he got back to his shop and with a few swift turns down an alley or two he was able to lose them. Heading home with his head on a swivel caused him no small amount of stress right up until he threw the bar across the door to the shop.
"Damn forgot how lawless this city is." he sighed to himself
Taking a breath he brought his recent purchase into his small room. laying down on the cot he got comfortable. A pillow become a must have after the second night when he woke up to a kink in his neck that had yet to go away a whole day later. Laying on the cot and looking toward to ceiling Marcus got back into practicing his magic. He had made great progress figuring out all three of his magics. He was a little confused as to why they are felt natural, or as close to natural as he could tell. He thought that he would need all that theory and knowledge that he lost on the two to make any headway but he couldn't be more wrong. His magic moved to his will as easily as moving his limbs. He had worked out the nauseating dizziness of teleportation with practice allowing for a smother time he also figured out how to open and close a sort of pocket realm which only required mana when opening the portal, the second it closed his mana stopped being used and started to tick back up. Manipulating and feeling his mana or mind as they called it here was a foreign experience nothing quite like it to compare to. He was easily able to grasp what he had in his pool and feel it draining and filling back up. He never allowed it to go below half because during that first night he had used up almost two thirds and felt a bit sick and tired. Half his pool was more than enough for training though and it only took a around forty minutes to fill back up to full so he estimated at around two hours if he drained himself dry although mind down as its termed might change things depending on how that all works.
Marcus looked down into the mirror as he worked on his new body improving his features and changing his build. He was shooting for something as close to his old body and face as possible just a bit more definition and muscle. He wasn't the most healthy during his old life and the old spare tire had started to grow after he had hit thirty. The last memories he had that made sense prior to the Chaos sea were a couple months after his thirty second birthday. He decided since this was a fresh start and all he would just round down to thirty years old and with his new flesh magic he was biologically immortal meaning he wouldn't die from natural causes, just the unnatural ones like to crazy Evilus bastards.
After finishing his magic training for the day and laying down on his now more comfortable cot and pillow combo, he diced that he would stick with his training for a few more days until he was almost out of supplies before looking for a familia to join. He had no clue what gods were currently still in Orario or who he would join. He definitely would avoid Loki and Freya for now; way to much crazy for him to deal with until he's stronger.
