Chapter 8 - CHAPTER 8 : THE HISTORY OF THE SWORDS

Hiruki Kurosawa stood before the class, his eyes gleaming with enthusiasm. "Okay then, today's lesson is about the history of the swords," he announced, writing on the board with a piece of chalk.

The students leaned forward, their faces filled with curiosity. Takahishi, in particular, looked fascinated, his eyes wide with wonder.

"The swords that you see most Grim hunters carrying are called Divine weapons," Hiruki explained, his voice filled with reverence. "These swords are unique, carrying godly powers that were given to man by the Divine beings to fight Grims."

Niski Narukami, the blue-haired student, snorted in derision. "Godly powers? You mean like magic?"

Hiruki's expression turned stern. "Not exactly, Niski. The Divine beings turned their bodies into these weapons, imbuing them with their powers. It's said that not only did they turn their bodies into swords, but also into different weapons."

A murmur of excitement ran through the class, with students exchanging awestruck glances.

Takahishi's hand shot up, his face alight with curiosity. "So, teacher Hiruki, you mean to tell me that there are beings trapped inside the weapons?"

Hiruki nodded, a somber expression on his face. "Yes, they are. That's what we've been told. These Divine weapons have been passed from generation to generation, and they're centuries old. On your graduation day, all of you will receive your Divine weapons."

The class fell silent, each student lost in their own thoughts. Finally, Hiruki broke the silence. "Any more questions?"

Crinix, who had been quiet until now, spoke up. "You mentioned that these Divine weapons carry godly powers. What are these godly powers?"

Hiruki chuckled, a twinkle in his eye. "Good question, I was getting to that. Like I said, these Divine weapons carry godly powers, but these abilities differ from one Grim hunter to another. Some Grim hunters have the ability to manipulate and control elements – water, fire, air, and earth."

A student in the back of the class raised her hand. "Teacher Hiruki, what do you mean by elements?"

Hiruki smiled. "When a Grim hunter uses these certain abilities, they become known as Divine Techniques. These Divine techniques can only be performed when a hunter forms a bond with their Divine weapon. But performing such techniques drains power from one's body."

Niski snorted again. "So, you're saying that we have to form a bond with a piece of metal? That's ridiculous."

Hiruki's expression turned stern once more. "It's not just a piece of metal, Niski. It's a Divine weapon, imbued with the power of the Divine beings. To form a bond with your Divine weapon, you must first awaken it."

A student asked, "But how do we awaken it?"

Hiruki's smile was tinged with nostalgia, his eyes gazing into the distance. "The bond between a Grim Hunter and their sword is akin to the deepest of human connections – a father's love for his son, a couple's devotion to each other." His focus returned to the present. "These ancient weapons, passed down through generations, hold dormant power. To unlock their true potential, you must first awaken their inner spirit."
