Chapter 1 - The Undeniable Truth (1)

Edge of the cliff

Chapter 1: The undeniable truth

(Part 1)

Henrick rushed to the mountain cottage, wanting to clarify the messages he received.

He was an adopted child? How could that be true? Was everything in his life a lie then?

Born to the richest family, 'Avenguard'- he was destined to live a life of wealth, luxury and unruliness.

But despite having access to limitless money, Henrick convinced himself to become an upright person, never wavering in front of fame or wealth at all times.

What did his resolve come to now?

He was nothing more than a disowned bastard who will have to crawl his whole remaining life beneath other's feets.

Before he could reach the cottage, a familiar figure stopped Henrick on his track.

"Louis! Get out of my way right now!" Henrick roared.

But the young man remain unfazed and coldly stepped towards Henrick with a condescending stance.

This mocking attitude was, of course, nothing foreign to Henrick.

The only thing changed now was that- it was him who was on the receiving end.

"What's the meaning of this?! I don't have time to deal with you. Now step aside you moron!"

Louis smirked with a cold glim in his eyes and without hesitance kicked Henrick on his stomach fiercely.

Falling back, Henrick cursed out loudly and his back was injured due to the sudden impact of the rocky pavement.

"How dare you! Do you have any idea who-"

Before Henrick could speak any further, Louis played a recording on his phone.

"You're really my son! My dear, come hug your mother."

A woman's voice, crystal-clear echoed in Henrick's mind.

It was the same voice which used to call him in an endearing tone once.

But it had been many years since he heard such affection overflowing in that woman's voice.

"W-why are you showing me this?"

Louis chuckled and finally spoke in an eerie tone, "Come on, they raised you well for so many years in my stead. I didn't think you would be this stupid to not get it."

...

A splitting headche jolted the young man out of his sleep.

"Huh, where am I? What's with this place?"

It was an unfamiliar room to Henrick.

He had no idea where he was placed.

"Just now...what was I doing again?"

Fragments of past events put his mind in a frenzy.

Suddenly, the heart rate monitor started beeping again alerting the people outside.

Henrick was holding his head and frowning due to the unbearable headache.

The door opened quickly and a man with striking dark blond hair entered the room.

Henrick squinted his eyes and out of his limited vision, saw the figure approaching.

Before the other person's hand could touch his head, Henrick screamed, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?!"

The other person's hand paused in mid air and he gave a questioning look to Henrick.

"Dear, why are you so shocked?"

...Henrick's face lost all its colour and he had a bad premonition.

What was with that earth-shattering term? Even if it was for mocking him, that man shouldn't use such an unsightly term to address Henrick, not even as a joke.

"I am your husband. What would I be doing if I am not beside you when you're ill?"

'Fxxk this shxt. I'm out.'
