Chapter 1 - Volume 1 - Manifest

Location: Kageyama residence in Musutafu, Japan

Time: 9:02 AM

Yumi Kageyama smiled warmly as she handed her son a coloring pencil. The nearly five-year-old Rei lay on the floor while doodling on a piece of paper. His father, Takashi Kageyama glanced over towards them behind the newspaper

"Something wrong, honey?" Yumi asked, catching Takashi by surprise. She always had a knack for seeing through her husband's thoughts. "You're not worrying about Rei's quirk again, are you?"

Takashi sighed deeply. "Can't hide anything from you, can I?" He set the newspaper on his lap; The discounted milk cartons were not important at the moment. "You think the kid's quirk would have appeared by now?"

"It's totally normal for his age not to have a quirk yet, Takashi." Yumi handed Rei the last pencil before standing up and ruffling her son's hair.

"I'm positive it will arrive any day now. All we can do is be patient and wait." Assuring her husband, Yumi walked to the kitchen to grab a drink.

Takashi's eyes followed Yumi as she headed to the kitchen. He trusted his wife more than anyone, though he still worried for their son's sake "I guess you're right..."

Rei, who had been too focused on creating a piece of art that would be remembered throughout the ages, finally got up and rushed to his father

"Dad, look!" He waved the colored paper in the air before shoving it into Takashi's hands.

"Well what do we have here then.." Takashi took the paper and rotated it to face the right way. A big smile crept onto his face as he analyzed every detail.

The "masterpiece" depicted Rei, Yumi, and Takashi swinging their arms around—or perhaps they're just standing with their arms are out to the sides. The sun was also visible in the corner, although it looked like they were indoors.

"Let's put this piece of art on the fridge right away!"

"That way we can see it every day." Takashi got up, not forgetting to ruffle his son´s hair. He started walking to the fridge while talking to Rei

Meanwhile, Yumi emerged from the kitchen with a tray of three drinks, smiling brightly. "I have something to drink for y-"

Takashi accidentally bumped into Yumi. The tray slipped from her hands and the drinks fell to the floor...

Except they didn´t. The drinks were frozen mid-air, with only a small amount spilling onto the floorboards. Takashi and Yumi both stared at them as if time had stopped.

Takashi instinctively tried to grab to drinks. His hands neared the them, but were halted by an invisible force.

"What the hell..."

Takashi felt the force surrounding the drinks and found a spot spot that was not covered by it. He attempted to pull them, but failed miserably. Takashi muttered something under his breath before feeling a tap on his shoulder.

"What is it, honey? I'm trying to..."

As he turned to see Yumi pointing at their child, his eyes widened, the realization hitting him like a brick. They saw Rei staring intently at the drinks.

"It... finally happened." Yumi covered her mouth with her hand.. The parents exchanged a look, suddenly filled with shock and happiness.

When they looked back at their son, their jaws dropped.

Two unnaturally long, translucent hands were emerging from Rei, firmly grasping the drinks in place. Rei meanwhile, was still fixated on the drinks, completely unaware of the situation.

"Rei... sweetie?" Yumi called out to him, snapping him back to reality.

Rei blinked and looked at his parents, utterly clueless "...Huh?"

Takashi wiped a tear from his eye and reached out to pat his son's head, smiling proudly. Rei leaned into the touch, momentarily distracted. The hands slowly faded away from the drinks...

9:31 AM

"Morning. This is Takashi Kageyama." Takashi spoke into the phone, his voice steady despite the recent discovery.

"Good morning, Kageyama. You have called The Central Hospital." A professional voice responded from the other end.

"I´d like to schedule an appointment to analyze my son's quirk, which manifested only recently." Takashi glanced at his son, who was sitting on the carpet with Yumi.

"Are you feeling well, honey? Are you hurt? Do you feel tired?" Worried for her son, Yumi bombarded him with questions. She wanted to ensure her son was fine since quirk manifestations can be dangerous.

"I think I'm fine, mommy." Rei´s innocent and well-meaning voice brought relief to Yumi, who cupped his cheeks and smiled warmly.

Yumi spoke up, "Daddy will call the doctors, and we'll get this quirk of yours checked soon." She glanced over at her husband, who was busy talking on the phone and hadn't noticed.

Finally, Takashi ended the call and walked over to Yumi and Rei. "I managed to schedule an appointment for ten. Sounds good?" He sat down next to them, cross-legged.

"Brilliant! I can't believe this." Yumi exclaimed as she pulled her son into a tight hug. Rei blinked in confusion but played along and hugged her back.

Takashi watched them, smiling down at the two "Our son's finally got a quirk..."

"We have the results regarding your son's quirk manifestation." The doctor adjusted his goggles while examining a document. Opposite of him, stood Yumi and Takashi, both waiting eagerly.

"It took some time to obtain the results from the testing, but we have managed to get them." The fairly old doctor looked up at the pair. "I am going to be completely honest: Your son's quirk has far exceeded our expectations. The results indicate power levels beyond anything we've seen in a long time."

Takashi and Yumi exchanged glances, momentarily at a loss for words.

"But since your son's quirk is powerful, it also poses significant risks if it gets out of control. recommend extensive training to keep it in check." Adjusting his peculiar, round set of goggles, the doctor glanced through the paper again, his eyes glinting with interest.

Takashi nodded, his expression turning serious at the warning. "Right. We will ensure that he receives the proper training when the time comes."

Beside him, Yumi spoke up, "Can we see Rei?"

"Ah, of course, Miss Kageyama." The doctor replied quickly, looking back up. "Follow me!"

EDIT: I proofread the entire thing and it should have WAY less spelling errors and better writing possibly!
