Chapter 5 - The Female Boss Reborn in a World of Poverty 05

Sky agreed easily at first, but when he actually lay down on the bed, he was too shy to get too close to Aries.

He couldn't sleep, so he quietly looked at Aries's face in the moonlight.

The more he looked, the hotter his face felt. Honestly, if it weren't for the scars on her face, Aries would look pretty... strong and impressive.

Also, earlier when he helped clean her body, he noticed she was quite... well-built too.

If only she weren't such a troublemaker!

Sky had heard of Aries before. Not just troublesome, but addicted to gambling, poor, and...

Basically, everyone had something bad to say about her—no one praised her.

But now she was his wife. Sky just hoped she could change after surviving that serious illness and start living a better life—not as wild as before.

Even if she could only change halfway, that would still be good.

Honestly, he was a bit thankful for Aries. If she hadn't needed someone to lift her bad luck through marriage, his father-in-law probably wouldn't have chosen someone like him—unattractive and with no good background.

This way, his family got a few pieces of silver, and his dad and older sister wouldn't be in such a hard situation.

So even if Aries woke up and didn't like him, he'd still take care of her and be filial to her father.

Besides, Aries looked a lot better now than she did at noon. He believed she'd wake up, and things would get better.

With that thought, Sky, who thought he wouldn't be able to sleep, slowly drifted off.

After all, he'd been busy all day, running around, so how could he not be tired?

In the middle of the night, Aries finally gained control over her body.

She opened her eyes and turned to look at the sleeping person beside her.

Even though the room was dark with no light, her sharp eyes could still see clearly.

The man's features were pretty neat, with a slightly tough look—probably from doing chores regularly. His skin was tanned and a bit rough.

By female-dominated standards, he definitely wouldn't be called handsome.

No wonder her father and Mawen had said he was unattractive—they weren't wrong.

Still, Aries thought he looked decent enough.

If she really got a pale, delicate, soft little husband, she might not even be able to accept it.

So not only did this little husband match her personality, his appearance was also acceptable.

Thinking this, Aries felt a bit less frustrated about not being able to train and reach immortality.

Since she couldn't ascend, she might as well enjoy life.

And enjoying life included the person beside her. If she didn't like him, how could she enjoy anything?

Aries looked at the little husband who was still frowning in his sleep—clearly not resting well.

Was he having a bad dream? Or was it just hard to sleep in an unfamiliar place?

If he could stay by her side peacefully from now on, she wouldn't mind treating him better.

With that thought, Aries looked away, lay on her back, and focused on stabilizing her soul. That was the most important thing right now—everything else could wait.

Maybe it was the coolness of the night, but Aries noticed the person next to her kept moving closer, until he ended up pressed against her arm.

Feeling the light touch on her arm, Aries paused, then reached out and pulled him into her arms.

The little husband must have been truly exhausted—not even that movement woke him.

Maybe he felt the warmth, because he rubbed his face against her shoulder, adjusted his position, and slept even more soundly.

His hand even landed on her waist.

Aries looked at the sleeping man in her arms and raised her brows with a soft laugh. Hah, was this him throwing himself into her arms?

But he was really too skinny—just bones. She'd have to feed him well from now on.

At dawn, Sky woke up. He was used to getting up at that hour every day.

Still groggy, he rubbed his face against the pillow—only to realize it felt different today.

And the thing under him didn't feel like a bed at all.

When he opened his eyes, the first thing he saw was a sharp-featured face. He froze—then his whole face turned red.

He tried to get up, but realized a strong arm was wrapped around his waist, and the big hand resting there was warm.

He didn't know whether it was the hand or his own body that felt hot.

Then he noticed—his own hand was on Aries's chest!

Sky's face wasn't just red—his whole body burned with embarrassment.

It was his first time being this close to a woman. Even if she was his wife, he was still really shy.

He remembered clearly that he had gone to sleep far from her—so how did he end up in her arms?

She was still injured! Did he press on her injury?

If Aries knew he'd crawled into her arms like that, would she think he was improper? That he wasn't being a decent husband?

The more he thought about it, the more nervous he got. His palms were sweating.

He wanted to get up, to move away from her, but was afraid he'd wake her up.

She was still healing and needed rest. He couldn't disturb her.

What Sky didn't know was that Aries had woken up the moment he moved—she just kept her eyes closed to see how he would react after throwing himself into her arms last night.

As expected, men in this female-led world were different. If it had been a man from her old world, waking up in a woman's arms would probably lead to trouble.

But this little husband of hers only looked embarrassed and nervous—nothing else.

Then Aries slowly "woke up" and said naturally, "If you're awake, you should get up."

Sky, caught off guard by the sudden voice above him, froze on the spot.

He blanked out and forgot what to do.

When Aries let go of him and slowly got out of bed to dress, Sky finally snapped back to reality.

He turned and knelt on the bed, looking at Aries with shame and worry. "Wife... I–I didn't do it on purpose."

Saying those words took all his courage. After that, he lowered his head, wishing he could hide in his chest.

But the back of his neck was already red, making Aries, who was dressing, curve her lips into a smile.

He actually wanted to explain that he didn't mean to crawl into her arms, that he wasn't being indecent—but he was too embarrassed to say it directly.

He waited in silence, but Aries didn't reply. Sky got more and more anxious, the color draining from his face.

Maybe she really did think he was improper and shameless.

Was she angry at him now?
