Chapter 1: Reborn as Goku

Li Ming, a perfectly normal 21-year-old otaku, lived and breathed anime and manga. Right now, his eyeballs were glued to the latest episode of "Naruto."

Ten minutes flew by faster than a Flying Nimbus, and the new episode was practically over. Time to scout for fresh anime! Suddenly, "Dragon Ball Z" popped up on his screen. "Ah, Dragon Ball! The king of the classics!" he thought, a nostalgic grin spreading across his face. "I devoured this back in the day!" With a click, he hit play, ready for a rewatch.

He specifically searched for the legendary Super Saiyan transformation, landing on episode 95. He settled in, eyes wide with anticipation.

That first time Goku went Super Saiyan? Electric! Still gives you goosebumps, even now!

Just then, the sky outside his window pulled a dramatic vanishing act, plunging into sudden darkness. BOOM! Thunder roared, lightning danced, and the heavens decided to take a massive leak.

The unexpected downpour sent the outside world into a frenzy of shouts and curses. Poor folks enjoying a leisurely stroll were instantly looking like drowned kittens. You couldn't blame them for yelling!

"What in the seven hells is this weather?!"

"Seriously?! Is this the end of the world or something?"

"Nah, 2012 already came and went, didn't it? What's with the sudden plot twist?"

"This weather forecast is about as useful as Yamcha in a Saiyan fight! 'Cloudy, turning sunny'? My foot!"

Yeah, Li Ming was feeling the cosmic injustice! Frustrated, he stood up to shut down his computer. "Damn it! Sunny one minute, thunder and rain the next? This is straight-up defying science!"

CRACKLE-BOOM! Another lightning strike, and the power lines outside his building snapped like twigs. But the electricity? It was having a party of its own, surging through the wires with a hundred times the usual kick! Sparks flew like crazy, and the insulation went up in smoke.

Back inside, Li Ming's right hand had just made contact with the computer's power switch. Suddenly, his entire body felt like it had been plugged into a Super Saiyan power outlet. Numbness washed over him, and his consciousness pulled a vanishing act faster than Instant Transmission. Even his thoughts went poof!

The computer sputtered, spitting out electric sparks and a suspicious green smoke. The "Dragon Ball" episode on the screen, however, remained stubbornly on. Then, a tiny black dot appeared in the center, slowly expanding… until it became a swirling black hole, about half a meter wide, which promptly swooped Li Ming in! The black hole winked out of existence, and the computer followed with a satisfying BANG!

When Li Ming finally blinked his eyes open, he found himself sprawled out in a huge, open hall. Confusion painted his face. "Where… where am I? Didn't I just get… zapped? How did I end up here?"

Then, he glanced down at his… considerably smaller body. He didn't hesitate. A hard pinch to the thigh later, he yelped in genuine pain. "Owww! Okay, not dreaming! Did I just pull a legendary time-travel maneuver?" The thought sent a jolt of excitement through him. He immediately reached down for a quick… inventory check. A massive grin spread across his face. "YES! Still intact! And… wowza! Talk about an upgrade, eh?"

Just as Li Ming was admiring his… newfound assets, a sharp pain shot through his head. Memories flooded his mind, a chaotic torrent of images and sensations. He clutched his head, groaning like he'd just taken a Spirit Bomb to the gut. It took a good seven or eight minutes for the agony to subside, leaving Li Ming dazed but… enlightened.

"Son… Son Goku…" The realization hit him with the force of a Super Saiyan punch. "No freakin' way! I actually landed in the world of Dragon Ball?! And I'm… Goku?! This has gotta be against the rules of the universe or something!" The thought of Saiyan physiology sent a thrill through him. But then, the images of ridiculously overpowered villains flashed in his mind, and a bead of sweat trickled down his temple. Still… Super Saiyan 2? Super Saiyan 3?! He couldn't help but grin again.

"Alright, alright, gotta play it cool in this world! Training time, it is!" He racked his brain, pulling up Goku's memories. "Okay, I'm in the Lookout right now, been training with Kami for over two years! Two years, huh? That means the first World Martial Arts Tournament is about a year away! A year… yeah, that's probably enough to get seriously strong!"

Following the fuzzy memories from the anime, Goku wandered around the Lookout, finally spotting the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. Just as he was about to swing the door open, a familiar, dark-skinned figure materialized behind him. "Goku," Mr. Popo said in his usual monotone, "didn't I tell you? You must remain still to enter."

Goku scratched his head sheepishly. "Hehe, sorry! Just super curious, ya know? What's this place even for? It's all mysterious and stuff!" Then, while Mr. Popo's attention was elsewhere (probably admiring the clouds), Goku yanked open the Time Chamber door.

"WHOA! There's a whole freakin' PLANET in here?! You guys kept this awesome training spot a secret and made me sweat it out in that tiny room? Talk about stingy!" Goku exclaimed, ready to dive in.

"Wait, Goku! You can't just waltz in there!" Mr. Popo quickly blocked his path. Kami himself appeared, floating serenely. "This place is called the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. Inside, the flow of time is… different. One day outside is equivalent to one year inside. And the environment… is extremely challenging."

Goku's eyes widened. "One day out, one year in?! You guys were holding out on me! Alright, Mr. Popo, load me up with food and water, and some of those Senzu Beans! I'm gonna train in there for… like, a few years!"

"A few years of training?" Kami couldn't help but chuckle and shake his head. "If you can endure a single year in there, Goku, you'll be more impressive than you already are."

Goku waved his hand dismissively. "A year? Pfft! No biggie! I'm practically a professional couch potato! This'll be a piece of cake!" Over the past two years, Goku's pure heart had earned Kami's trust, and a surprisingly good friendship had blossomed between them. So, Kami reluctantly agreed to Goku's request.

After packing enough grub to feed a small army (and a bag of those magical beans from Korin), a wide-eyed Goku stepped into the Hyperbolic Time Chamber… brimming with excitement.

Three days later, a slightly disheveled but noticeably different Goku emerged. He stood a good 1.78 meters tall, his body sculpted with lean muscle. His spiky hair was just as he remembered, framing a face that was now more mature, less innocent, and radiating a quiet confidence. The naivety was still there, but now it was tempered with a newfound determination.

Despite the three days passing outside, Goku had popped out of the Time Chamber several times. Training alone in that intense environment was… well, let's just say even an otaku had his limits! By his calculations, he'd spent over two years inside, which translated to just over two days in the real world.

"Whew! Even with the heart of a homebody, that was intense! Time for some fresh air, methinks! Alright, time to go find Bulma and those Dragon Balls! Hehe~!"

After a quick goodbye to Kami and Mr. Popo, Goku, Senzu Bean stash in hand, shot off towards the bustling cities below… After a year of training in the Time Chamber (plus those extra two days), Kami had finally deemed him responsible enough to leave the Lookout whenever he pleased. Truth be told, Goku's power level was already giving Kami a run for his money.

Landing in a vibrant city, Goku treated himself to some seriously stylish and comfy threads, a long-overdue bath, and a mountain of delicious food before blasting off towards Bulma's mansion.

Feeling the familiar "ki" signature wafting from the ridiculously huge villa below, Goku, while not entirely surprised, still let out a low whistle. "Whoa! Bulma's place? Talk about living large!" He descended, following Bulma's energy signature until he located a particularly… pink room.

Just as Goku peered inside, the bathroom door creaked open. A beautiful girl in a fluffy, very short bathrobe stepped out, towel-drying her vibrant blue hair… Her eyes widened in shock as she spotted Goku standing in her room. She stumbled back a few steps. "You… who are you?! How did you get in here?!"

Goku's eyes practically popped out of his head. "Is… is that Bulma?! She's… wow! Talk about a glow-up! No way am I letting a girl this gorgeous end up with some other dude! Hehe~ Bulma, you're mine!"

Hearing Bulma's startled cry, Goku casually pointed towards the window. "Flew in! Easy peasy!"

"Flew in?" Bulma eyed him suspiciously. Goku, meanwhile, was doing a full-body scan of Bulma, a goofy grin plastered on his face. "Bulma! You've gotten even more beautiful than I remember! It's been, like, a few years, right?"

"Huh? You… you know me?" Bulma stared at this ridiculously handsome stranger, her mind racing. "Wait a minute… you can't be… Son Goku?!"

"You recognized me! Awesome! I thought I'd be too tall for ya!" Goku chuckled.

Bulma circled him slowly, her expression a mixture of disbelief and awe. "Are you really Goku? I can't believe how much you've grown in just two years! Didn't you go off to train with Kami? What are you doing here?"

"Training's all wrapped up!" Goku sauntered closer to Bulma, feigning innocence as his gaze drifted downwards. "Say, Bulma, those… uh… chest muscles of yours seem to be getting bigger! I heard those are super comfy to touch! Wanna let me check 'em out?"

Bulma's face flushed a furious red. "YOU IDIOT! Girls' breasts are NOT for touching! And they're called… well, never mind! You absolute blockhead!"

Goku tilted his head, feigning confusion. "But… I've seen guys touching girls'… you know… before!"

Bulma stammered, her cheeks burning. "Th-that's different! Th-those people are… really close! Like… boyfriend and girlfriend!"

Goku's eyes lit up with sudden understanding. "Aha! So that's how it works! Only boyfriends and girlfriends can touch each other there… Well, I'm a guy, you're a girl, and we're friends! That makes us boyfriend and girlfriend, right? So, lemme have a feel!" And with that, Goku's hand shot out…

Chapter 2: Goku's First Field Trip

"Bulma! Today's your big day for school registration! Don't be late!" A stylishly dressed young woman walked into the room, her eyes widening at the scene before her. She then looked at Goku, a surprised smile playing on her lips. "Oh my! Who's this handsome young man? Is he Bulma's new boyfriend? Sneaking him home already? You two have been busy, haven't you?"

"H-hello… hello, Auntie! My name is Son Goku! Nice to meet you!" Goku, thoroughly flustered, retracted his adventurous hand and scratched his head sheepishly, offering a polite bow to Bulma's undeniably attractive mother. "Bulma's mother, huh? She's… quite something!" Then, the thought of Bulma's father crossed his mind, and Goku subtly shook his head. "Talk about an old ox chewing on young grass! Rich people's world, man, I just don't get it!"

"Huh? You're Son Goku? Bulma talks about you all the time! But… didn't she say you were still a little kid? I never imagined you'd be such a handsome young man! Bulma, you've been holding out on your own mother!" Bulma's mom looked genuinely surprised, giving Bulma a slightly accusing look.

"I wasn't lying! Even I'm still surprised! I didn't expect that little brat to suddenly sprout up like this in just two years!" Bulma couldn't help but roll her eyes at her mother. At the same time, she let out a silent sigh of relief. Thank goodness her mom had impeccable timing! Otherwise, she might have actually been… groped by this Saiyan monster. She wasn't exactly confident in her ability to resist Goku's… enthusiastic curiosity.

Seeing that his teasing was going nowhere fast, Goku finally got down to business. "Hey, Bulma! Where's your Dragon Ball Radar? Gotta borrow it!"

"Huh? The Dragon Ball Radar? What for? Are you going Dragon Ball hunting again? What wish do you want to make this time?" Bulma looked at Goku, puzzled. She knew his personality well. He wouldn't rely on the Dragon Balls unless it was something truly important.

"Well," Goku explained truthfully, "after training at the Lookout for a while, I found this awesome place called the Hyperbolic Time Chamber! One day outside is like a whole year inside! Perfect for getting super strong! So, I kinda wanna ask Shenron to make me one of those! Can't exactly keep bugging Kami to use his, right?" There was no point in hiding something like that.

"WHAT?! One day outside is a YEAR inside?! Seriously?! Is there even such a thing?! And you've been training in there?! No wonder you suddenly went from a little squirt to… that!" Bulma was genuinely astonished. If Goku hadn't told her, she'd never have guessed such a magical place existed. With a sigh of slight regret, Bulma rummaged through her bag and pulled out the Dragon Ball Radar, which hadn't seen the light of day in nearly two years. She handed it to Goku. "It's a shame I have to register for school today, otherwise I'd totally come Dragon Ball hunting with you! Looks like we'll have to wait until next time."

"Go to school? Seriously? With your IQ? Why not ditch that and come find Dragon Balls with me instead!" Goku tried one last persuasive tactic, clearly not wanting to go alone.

"Can't this time, Goku. Skipped way too many classes before. Gotta buckle down this semester! It's my last one, after all…" Bulma looked genuinely helpless. Adventures with Goku had a nasty habit of interfering with her academic pursuits. Even if her family was loaded and she was a certified genius, constant truancy wasn't exactly a recipe for success.

"Alright, alright, guess I'll just have to go solo then." Seeing that Bulma was truly unavailable, Goku, though a bit disappointed, resigned himself to his fate. He grabbed the Dragon Ball Radar, waved at Bulma and her mom, and with a burst of speed, shot out the window using his newfound Ki control.

"Oh my! I didn't know your boyfriend could fly!" Bulma's mother exclaimed, though her tone was surprisingly casual. "MOM! Goku is NOT my boyfriend!" Bulma rolled her eyes. Sun Goku flying out of a window? While a bit unexpected, it wasn't exactly the weirdest thing she'd witnessed in her life.

"Hmm… Goku's kinda handsome now, though… Boyfriend material? Maybe I should consider it!" Bulma mused to herself, a faint blush creeping onto her cheeks as she watched Goku disappear into the sky. She turned and trudged downstairs. "Ugh! School again! So annoying!"

Soaring through the sky, Goku flicked on the Dragon Ball Radar. The nearest blip was only a few miles to the southeast! With a burst of speed, he zoomed towards it, faster than a Piccolo temper tantrum.

"Bingo! Gotta be this area!" Goku held the Dragon Ball Radar, watching the blinking lights intently. He scanned the desolate landscape below. Nothing but sand and rocks as far as the eye could see.

After a brief search, he finally spotted the first Dragon Ball nestled in a crack in the stone. "Sweet! A Three-Star Ball! Thought this would be tougher!" Goku grinned, carefully examining the orange, star-studded sphere in his hand. "So this is the legendary Dragon Ball, huh? Looks just like in the anime! Can't believe I'm actually holding one! Hehe~! But… even though these things are awesome, they also have some seriously scary downsides!" The image of the Shadow Dragons from the GT series flashed in his mind, sending a shiver down his spine. "Even if GT isn't canon, who knows if that evil stuff is real?

"Maybe after I make my wish, I should lay off these Dragon Balls for a while… And if I ever get the chance, gotta head back to the Lookout and see if those legendary Dragon Balls are real! If they are, better to destroy 'em ASAP!"

Just as Goku's mind wandered to world-ending wish-granting artifacts, the ground beneath him erupted! A massive, pangolin-like monster burst forth, its jaws snapping, revealing rows of razor-sharp teeth as it lunged at Goku!

A stench foul enough to knock out even Krillin assaulted Goku's nostrils. He sidestepped the attack with a casual flick of his wrist, narrowly avoiding it.
