It turns out that the ninjas did know where the girl was, Touki just had to be much more persuasive with the younger ninja, apparently a rookie. Karin is a rather special case within the Kusa village, as she's considered an important resource, yet at the same time treated like garbage, something Touki still can't quite understand. Why mistreat someone who can literally heal very serious wounds quickly and without side effects for the patient?
Touki doesn't really need Karin, at least not yet, but it's a real waste to let her suffer in Kusagakure and then fall into Orochimaru's hands. The girl has extremely great potential and could very well become an S-class shinobi, not to mention her ability as a medical ninja.
The process of finding information about Karin was much more difficult than Touki had originally planned, as it's not easy to infiltrate a hidden village, no matter how visible it is, let alone start asking questions about the girl without attracting the attention of the authorities. So Touki simply planned a slightly more forced approach, that is, to force the information out of the Kusa ninja, since as he recalls from the original story, most of the village's shinobi know Karin or her mother so they can go to them in case they're hurt.
The plan was surprisingly simple, first they looked for a place that had problems with bandits, then they looked for the hideout of some, to finally deliver the information to a nearby town and even contribute the money to request the extermination mission to Kusagakure, a fairly effective method to attract ninjas from a specific village, although it depends on the existence of said bandits.
In the end, the investment proved successful, also helping to test the new artifacts made by Touki and Suki's combat tactics. Suki gains more and more experience, currently possessing strength far superior to any genin, even surpassing chunin if we add her artifacts. All the girl needs to be unstoppable is experience, a jutsu master, and maybe a pair of eyes.
It wasn't too difficult for Touki to convince Suki to accept the idea of rescuing Karin; he simply fabricated the story that he met the girl's mother when he was on the verge of death once, only to survive with her help. The lie, not so much a lie, is that he now wants to help his daughter in trouble, since Kusagakure is treating her as a mere disposable resource.
The rescue itself is a real challenge, because even though Karin lives in the poorest part of the village, she's still part of it. But Touki is now a man of considerable and varied resources, so a forced rescue isn't an impossible feat. All that remains is to find the right moment and use some unorthodox resources to achieve the goal.
…
During a typical night in Kusa Village, one of its youngest members, Uzumaki Karin, just 6 years old, tries to fall asleep after a hard day's work.
Although she's just a child, Karin's job is very important to the village, as she is responsible for healing ninjas injured during missions. It's a bitter task that has already claimed the life of her mother, but the girl doesn't have many options, and her opinion doesn't matter much when it comes to using her strange power, which requires her to be bitten in order to heal the wounded.
Today was a particularly busy day, because while the girl didn't have to cure anyone, the celebration of a typical village festival required everyone's help, and the children were no exception. There were celebrations commemorating the village's founding, and everyone was able to drink and have a good time. Unfortunately, Karin had to spend most of the day helping in the kitchen and cleaning up afterward.
In the past, it was her mother who made sure they had at least a small celebration of their own at home when the day was over, but today that's a thing of the past for Karin. She simply went to bed and now can't help but reminisce about the good times, with a few tears in her eyes, as she gazes at the moon through the window.
Suddenly, Karin begins to notice a fog beginning to cover her window and her view of the sky. At first, she thought it was just like any other fog that usually appears at night, but slowly, it begins to completely cover the moon and even penetrates her room, eliminating any ability to see more than a few centimeters.
Karin panics, and all she can do is cover herself completely with her futon and hope it's all a bad dream.
Booom!
An explosion is heard in the distance, which incredibly shakes the ground throughout the village, like a real earthquake.
Booom!
Another explosion is heard, this time a little closer. Karin begins to tremble, but remains alert to everything that is happening.
Booom! Booooooom!
Now there are two explosions, the last one the loudest yet. Then Karin hears her window seemingly open, then the soft sound of footsteps approaching her. The girl is about to scream in fear, still inside her futon, but a hand rests lightly on her head, followed by the sound of a high-pitched woman's voice.
"Karin, darling, I've come to help you..."
That's all Karin hears before she faints from fear.
…
Inside Kusa headquarters, everything is in chaos, with ninjas running around, everyone trying to make sense of the surprise attack they are under.
"Have you managed to detect the source of the fog?" asks a middle-aged, bearded Ninja with a dominant attitude, clearly the authority figure in the room.
"We haven't been able to determine the source yet. Reports indicate it's coming from all directions, and only the most powerful wind jutsus are able to clear localized areas, but the fog doesn't take long to reoccupy them" one of the ninjas in charge of gathering data replies.
"Sensory ninjas haven't detected any significant presence outside the walls, and sentries outside the village haven't reported anything unusual"
"The explosions occurred near the eastern wall. So far, there are no deaths or injuries, but many windows were shattered by the shock waves. The power of the explosions has yet to be determined, and no one dares to enter the affected area"
"The fog makes it impossible to know what's happening in the lower areas. No one can even walk the streets. We don't know what's going on"
The Leader's face continues to show concern, while sweat accumulates on the faces of all the ninjas present. This is undoubtedly an unprecedented event, so much so that no one knows how to act.
Just as the leader is about to give a decisive order, the sound of a cane is heard in the hall, along with the presence of an elderly man.
"Don't even think about doing anything stupid" the old man says in a raspy voice. "This isn't something we should interfere with"
"What do you mean, old man? I'm in charge of the situation. Do you even know who's responsible for this attack?" the leader asks.
"Of course no one knows what this is about, but I can feel it, in the mist... The chakra is different, it's not human, it's natural" The old man's voice turns ominous.
The leader's pupils dilate, and the surprise on his face cannot be hidden. "Senjutsu..."
"That's right, my young friend. We're dealing with something extremely powerful, an unknown beast at best, and at worst, a bijuu or even a jinchuriki"
"Yagura?" the leader asks.
"That's the first thing that came to mind, but it's not his style. Something fought or is fighting outside the village, so the stupidest thing to do is give them a reason to attack us. The best thing you can do is tell everyone to hide as best they can and pray not to be another victim of the combat. Keep the shields at maximum capacity and request help from Konoha, they are the only ones who can deal with something like this" the old man finishes, before leaving.
Everyone present falls silent, their faces clearly panicked, and it's not until the leader begins to give orders again that the hall once again bursts into activity.
This night will be one of the most memorable in Kusagakure, nicknamed by some as "The Nightmare," and only a couple of days later will some realize that a certain red-haired girl has disappeared.
