It's a Taylor Swift song on the background. I ordered a Chocolate Banana Muffin and a Iced Double Chocolate. I needed some time off cause I spent this week partying. Like how do I undo things?
Why do I even want to to change their perspective of me? Oh yes, I almost forgot, I didn't want to be part of the corporate world.
"Carli, when will you even go home?"
"Do I need to, Dad?"
"Of course! Don't you miss home? How many times do I have to tell you that you have to start engaging in our family business! We gave you a year to travel and explore, but you've got 2 more months to come home darling."
"Dad, you know what my stand in this."
I heard him sigh. If my mom knew he was calling me, I am pretty damn sure she will book me a flight to wherever I am, back home. "You can't just let your Ate do this right?"
"I know, but you know I'm not good in that."
"You never will know if you won't try right?"
He's right. Seriously I just wanted my mom to see that I'm not responsible enough to run a company. I'm sure the board will purely object if I take over a position but then my dad and my sister would be there to back me up. Even my mom, I'm sure she will do everything to make sure I get a good position.
"Let's say, I'd give it a try. But after that, IF, there's my big if Dad. IF I know I can't be of help to the company, can I just go and do my stuff instead?"
"We'll, see about that. We can always get a positive outlook in trying right? Thank you darling, for considering."
"Look Dad, I am only considering because I didn't want to have regrets even tho I know I cannot do what you wanted me to do."
"Getting the first step is so much better than taking a definite no, don't you think?"
"Oh yes. I'm sure mom will be thrilled to even hear that I am considering this."
"She wants what's best for you, you know that."
"I know! But sometimes, she going overboard Dad."
"Well she loves you so much, you know you can't blame that to her?" He said laughing.
"You spoiled her too much Dad!"
"No I didn't! Where do you think you got that attitude of yours? You're so much alike darling, you just don't want to accept it."
"I know. I still have to finish the 2 months Dad, I got some projects I need to complete before going back home."
"Okay, sure you do. But this is a promise, Carli. You'd be home for summer."
"Yes yes, I'll book my flight tonight and send you a copy, so you'd stop calling me nonstop!" I laughed.
There are really days where being with so overprotective parents pisses me off. But most of the time, I know they just love me. I am currently in an Island with such a beautiful white sand beach. I liked the beach so much. I came here last January because I needed inspiration for my paintings.
After graduation, my original plan was to just keep on partying. I wanted to build a wild image that is not fit for the corporate world. I'm not really letting myself get drunk but I tend to accept invitations to club parties just so my name gets involve. It does, because in the society we are in, people talk a lot.
Well in reality I do not love party, but there's nothing wrong if I act one, because who knows it might work. My family do have a popular last name. Not the super rich type but, we can at the very least afford a comfortable lifestyle.
"Look I heard some rumors little missy."
"Stop it! I only told Dad I am considering this but only 1 year. If only I'm allowed to have it in six months better!"
She laughed. So hard I can feel she so loved this. "Sorry, this is so you."
"You know I didn't want to be in there. I know where this is going." I sighed.
"I know so I am very much surprised when Dad announced it in our dinner."
"Mom should be very thrilled."
"She is ecstatic. I can feel she's planning a lot right now."
"I'll just find a way out."
"I can't tell you to do the same thing but sometimes you know what she have decided seems the best."
"I know, but there's a limitation to that."
She sighed. "Don't worry, she already knew my sentiment with this and I told her she only got really lucky."
"I missed you. So I wanted to be there before you give birth. I didn't want you to go back to work so I've volunteered to assist."
"So that's the real reason. You know you didn't have to right?"
"What? I didn't want you to rush things after giving birth so I wanted to do this." I smiled. "That's something I believe I needed to do."
"I know you love me. I just think this is somehow giving Mom an opening
to do the things you, know you didn't want her to do."
Now I started laughing. "Yeah but I've escaped everything she'd done so
I'm up for the challenge. Especially now that I'm an adult, oh no, she might locked
me up in my room!"
"Tell me your flight details, the very least the night before so I can arrange to pick you up. I know you didn't want Mom to have time to arranged a last minute welcome party."
"Okay okay I will. Love you! I still have another vacation this month before I finally go and be SERIOUS on corporate work. See you soon."
I have high hopes for my future. I know I'm risking my freedom at the moment but I'll have to do this sooner than later. Might as well get over this after first try.
