unexpected rebirth in DC

Waking up in an alley covered in both muck and what he assumes to be his own blood wasn't exactly what the young man had hoped the afterlife would look like, or rather why did everything look so gloomy?! He WAS dead right? RIGHT? So why does he feel so alive? And why does he constantly keep hearing about a masked bat-like man prowling in the shadows and lurking over the city he's in. Gods, Heroes, Villains, Vigilantes all of them were very real here it seems. “Damn… I'm cooked”.
