Chapter 1 - The Fall

The evening of August 1971, the weather was pleasant and quite outgoing as sun was silently peeking through clouds as to not disturb the family of three entering the shopping district of diagon alley through roaring fire place.

After exiting the fireplace, the man who appeared to be in his thirties with trimmed a trimmed beard, cleaned his cyan colored suit with a wave of his wand and watched as his stunningly beautiful wife in pink velvet dress which was lightly swiping the floor, got dragged away by his eleven year old son who got only good things from both of his parents and mostly from his mother like his mother's crimson red eyes and her beautiful and glossy skin with plump cheeks with baby fat in it. But he got his father's dark black hair and sharp eyes rather than his mother's beautiful curly brown hair which not gonna lie, quite suited her.

As for the reason why they were here was that little ball of sunshine who was getting restless from past month after receiving his letter of acceptance from prestigious 'Hogwarts School Of Witchcraft And Wizardry'.

His son was never so excited with anything in his life, in fact he was so quite mature for his age; nothing can excite him other than magic. This was the sole reason why he took a leave on his son's birthday on 7th August from his hectic ministry life for taking his son for shopping for his school essentials with his wife.

And didn't regret it one bit as watching his son's smile has made his day there were only few things which can make his son smile other than that he will stay in his own world inside his library with his books. Sometimes he wonders if it's his absence that made his son so mature and he didn't like his son growing mentally out of his age. And he also needed this break as he never took it since he got promoted three years ago.

"Let's see, there are so many things we have to buy where do we go first? What do say Ryan?" He heard his wife asking her.

"Why don't we let birthday boy decide." He suggested.

"Potion ingredients". His son jumped in front of him shouted excitedly.

"Nice choice hon, after we can go to robes and give your measurements and while they are making those we can go trunk shopping and pet shopping, books, pets than we will take your clothes lastly taking your wand we will head home. How about it". His wife chimed in as both father and son duo dumbfoundedly stared at her.

"Damn you really got excited by shopping huh, then why bother ask if you are gonna make plans anyways". He rebuked while she showed them their tongue cutely while winking as they entered the potion ingredient shop.

Immediately his son got his vigor and started picking his ingredients for different potion recipes as he is quite good at potion recipes even comparable to some fourth years at Hogwarts.

As far as Ryan remembers his son has been quick learner and quite talented in anything he does. He still remembers his first accidental magic outburst when he falls from their terrace when he was just four years old and got saved by his magic. From that moment he got interested in everything related to magic.

But due to underage restrictions for the use of wands he had to satisfy with potion making and books reading.

His son quickly bought all the necessary ingredients and they started walking towards Madam Malkin's robes for all occasions.

After another familiar bell sound rang and Ryan found himself in a little bit crowded but familiar shop, here Madam Malkin rules. Sound caught her attention and she turn around to view her guests while her enchanted tape kept measuring child in front of her. She is jolly women by nature and little bit plump in size.

"Ah! A new student." Madam Malkin exclaimed. "Just wait a little bit kiddo and I will be free for you."Then her eyes fell on Ryan and her eyes shined with nostalgia. "Ah Mr. Freeman it is quite an honor to be able to serve you." She said.

"Oh! You flatter me miss." Ryan said politely.

"Oh no! You must be quite busy after all those incidents related to muggle massacre. Oh! What a tragedy, it has been three months but prophet is still talking about it like it happened tomorrow."

"Quite a tragedy indeed. But we can't give the entire fault to public newspapers as they are just doing what they do. And ministry is also responsible as this is the third attack and we still can't find who the perpetrators are." Ryan replied solemnly.

"Don't start blaming yourself. You are doing what you can do and supposed to do." His wife said furiously.

"But you know it is not enough." He said.

"Ok that's enough you two. I have lots of work to do so sit tight and I will be right back." Madam Malkin said ending the conversation.

We three nodded our head and started our tour of the shop. This place was crowded but no everyone were buying readymade robes or taking their orders.

Madam Malkin completed her quest and started taking his son's measurements. Or should I be saying her enchanted tape started taking his son's measurements. His son got quite flustered at the tape as it assaulted him.

His wife started her small talk with Madam Malkin about which leather should be used in making of clothes and which enchantments should be placed in his clothes blah...blah…blah. He was not interested in this topic and by the looks of it neither his son looked interested in it, as he started playing with the same measuring tape after it finished its work.

"So, what were you doing with it?" Ryan asked him after they exited the shop.

"I was just checking its enchantment. Figuring if I can make it." He replied.

"So, did you figure it out?" Ryan asked.

"Yeah, I mean it was quite easy just some clusters of runes and enchantments like self repair, flying and some rune for giving it magic for its automation like 'Ourous' which give it capability to do its assign job but they needed whole cluster to just assign it."

"There is nothing easy in it." Ryan smacked his head.

"Told you, our son is genius with a double g." His wife said.

"You know what let's leave it here and head to bookstore." He changed the topic in defeat.

After buying books and trunk for him they headed to the pet shop. With another chime they found themselves surrounded by countless animals and birds. Some locked in their cages, eating, sleeping and some were flying and walking around.

"So, which of them do you want." His wife asked their son.

"Let's see. Uhm….."He walked towards some cages and stopped in front of one cage. "This one." He said still looking at the cage.

Ryan walked towards the cage and saw a beautiful golden brown owl staring at his son while tilting its head ninety degrees towards right and his son was also imitating it.

"Sir what is her name." Ryan asked the shopkeeper.

"He is male." His son said still looking at the owl while still imitating it but now towards left.

"Ah! This child he doesn't have one." Suddenly shopkeeper appeared beside him startling Ryan.

"Then it is decided, you are Seth. Welcome to the family." His son said excitedly.

"Well there you got it." His wife also came hearing their voices.

After paying bill for Seth we headed towards our last destination 'Ollivandors wand shop'.

After reaching inside the wand shop they came in presence of another familiar ting and a shop filled to brim towards the top with wand boxes rows and rows filled with nothing but wands to the roof.

They reached to the reception desk which was just within two hands reach from the entrance and pressed the bell on top of the desk.

"Coming. Just a minute." Came a slightly raspy voice. And came a person matching his voice from the den of wand boxes.

"So, what can I do for you…..? Ah! Mr. Ryan Freeman to what I owe pleasure for you visiting my humble abode. If I remember correctly you shouldn't have any problem with my creation, thirteen and half inches, and yew wood with dragon heartstring core." Called the haggard looking old man who looked like he can die at any moment from overworking himself but Ryan knew he will not die anytime soon.

"Yes it is serving me well, sir. But today I am visiting for my son's new wand." Ryan replied.

"I see, I see. A new Hogwarts student eh. And what about you ma'am, I don't seem to remember yours." Ollivander said.

"Mine is from France. I studied at Beauxbaton before coming here for job." Aria replied.

"Oh! Ok I understand. I will check which wand suits you little young man." Ollivander said to his son before handing him a wand from a nearest box while his measuring tape starts its work. "Let's see, holy wood with unicorn hair as its core, twelve inches long. Give a wave." He said while handing the wand over.

His son took the wand and waved it and oh! Man what a blast it was, looked like a little earthquake occurred.

After two and half hour the whole shop looked like a mess and Ryan and Aria were standing in a corner watching their son doing a victory pose while clutching his new wand in his right hand.

"Acacia wood, ten inches with phoenix feather core. It will prove quite a companion for you young one. Acacia is quite a stubborn one, mostly it doesn't work for anyone unless it is the owner as it doesn't easily choose its owner. Only few geniuses can make it work. With phoenix feather core it can wield almost any type of magic and acacia phoenix combo will prove itself loyal to you. Remember son, wand chooses wizard thus you have to prove yourself to be its rightful choice."

At this the kid nodded bashfully. After we bid farewell to Garrick Ollivander, Ryan and his family were again on the streets of diagon alley. Ryan walked ahead while looking cautiously. Aria noticed this and asked," What's wrong?"

"I don't know, but something doesn't seem right." Ryan replied while clutching his son's hand tightly and increasing his pace, his wand appeared in his right hand.

Footsteps echoing as the family of three walked in the deserted alley speedily.

"What's happening here? It looks like we are the only living person here." Aria said gulping nervously, worry evident on her face as she put her hand on her son's shoulder and keeping him closer to her. The festive mood earlier not in sight, even the child was clutching his bag which contains all of his items from today's shopping trip with the help of undetectable extension charm.

"Crap, I can't apparate, this is trap." Ryan said, warning them while he stopped and cover his family to guard them from any unexpected scenarios, he was fidgeting with is ring which he always wear on his ring finger, sending the signal to the ministry auror office, an explendid use of protean charm, but now the time to give praises to the maker.

As soon as he said that thirteen smokes like entities appeared in his vision flying closer towards him. Seven smokes landed in front of him and six landed behind, blocking his escape route. They transformed into human as soon as they landed, all wearing black cloaks on their body and hiding their faces with masks.

"Good evening Mr. Ryan Freeman, current head of Department Of Magical Law Enforcement, it is a pleasure to meet you and quite hard too as I would like to say. No one knows where you live or we would have chatted at your home over some nice tea, what you say?"Middle one of the seven in front of him said.

'He seems like their leader. I have to stall for time for aurors to arrive. I have to protect my family at all cost.' Ryan thought. "Aren't you a chatty one for someone trying to doing something nice?" He said.

"No no no, I ain't doing anything nice. And about me being chatty, you are gonna die anyways then why not try and humor me. I learned quite a few things about your magical prowess." The masked leader said.

"Don't think you have won already. I still have my wand in my hand." Ryan snapped while pointing his wand at the leader.

"Oh! Is that so? I didn't think about that, thanks for reminding." The leader laughed. "Hey, don't waste your time talking. Dark lord said we have to finish this as fast as possible." One of the six lackeys said.

"Yeah right, we have to finish this as fast as possible but this doesn't mean we can't enjoy ourselves." A sound of women said from behind Ryan.

"Depulso." Ryan fired the spell without waiting for anyone. "Expelliarmus." Right on the queue Aria fired her spell.

"Protego." Leader said making a shield protecting the assaulters in front of him but one of the unsuspecting assaulter behind him lost his wand far away from him fallen at his son's leg from his wife's spell.

Watching this remaining assaulters fired their spell simultaneously. Ryan had to shoot a shield charm to protect his family from the barrage of spells, his wife was also keeping up with her own shield charm.

Ten minutes later the alley was shining with red, blue and grey colors and Ryan was starting to feel tired as he was taking brunt of thirteen spells while protecting his son, but here he wasn't alone, his wife was also taking load off his shoulders. But she was also getting tired, by the looks of it more than him.

The now flawless street was looking like it got run over by a mad mammoth as they both were fighting back to back with their son in between them.

"Avada kedavra." A voice sounded and he saw Aria lifelessly tumbling to the side.

"Bombarda." He got distracted and a spell got him, shooting him straight into the wall leaving a child alone kneeling beside his now dead mother watching her soul less eyes, reflecting his face full of tears running down his cheeks with some baby fat in them, showing no sign of stopping like a dam burst open, he wailed.

"Waaaaaaah...…waaaaah. Moooooooooooooooooom. Dad... mom…she….she is…not saying anything dad." Child turned towards his father and spoke.

Ryan watched as his son cried then watched his wife's lifeless body. His own condition was far worse. His body stuck inside wall, blood dripping all over his face, whole body aching from broken ribs.

"What the hell. You finished them so early. There is no fun with you guys. But I have to say Mr. Freeman you hold on quite well." The leader walked towards the wall in which Ryan took support. But his whole attention was centered on the figure in the middle of the street, slowly standing clutching his own mother's wand and magic surged through it as it was pointing towards the leader as leader walked towards him, much to Ryan's horror, a childish voice yelled.

"Depulso." His son yelled. The leader stumbled into the wall with cut marks all over his body, his mask got cut in half with a huge cut below his left eye, running down his cheek towards his chin, blood dripping.

"Oh! A twig stilled remained, what a shame you would have been a great piece for us. This should be your first time using magic and you did a great job but alas this is as far you go. Tell me your name kiddo, I will play with you for some time." Leader said amused.

"ALEXANDER FREEMAN, don't you dare forget it." The child yelled, venom evident in his voice.

"No, no one will do anything to this kid." Leader said as he saw his men ready to shoot spell at the kid.

"Flippendo." But Alex took advantage of this and shoots a spell on a wandless man among the group.

"Crucio." One of the man said and pain surged through Alex's whole body.

"Aaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrggghhhhhh raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa..." Alex screamed his guts out. His whole body contorted in pain and his muscles swelled. As if easing the pain, his magic soured to whole body.

"I said no one will do anything to this kid. Don't you fucking understand." Leader yelled stopping his man, and oh! Man as soon as he stopped, magic flared from Alex's body destroying everything in process and rampaging all around the place.

Leader took out his wand as a precaution as he didn't know if child will turn into obscurus.

"Hey man let's get out of here. Aurors are coming. He turned to see several flying brooms coming in his directions.

He and his subordinates took the airways and ran away leaving rampaging ball of magic behind.
