Chapter 65 - Chapter 65: Falling Deeper

Fred's mind raced as the cold reality of his betrayal began to sink in. Jason's mocking grin haunted him as he stood in the middle of the room, Ronan watching with a calculating stare. His legs felt weak, as if the floor beneath him had dissolved into nothingness.

"You…" Fred's voice trembled, the words strangled by the weight of the revelation. "You were never my ally."

Jason shrugged, his expression unreadable. "You should've seen it coming. You've been nothing but a pawn in a game you never understood. You were always going to be discarded when you outlived your use."

Fred couldn't move. His heart was pounding in his chest, the sharp ache of betrayal wrapping around him like a vice. The once-steadfast connections he thought he had with people, especially with Jason, had turned to dust. He had been played, manipulated by forces much bigger than he had ever imagined.

Ronan's voice cut through the silence, cold and confident. "You thought you were smart, Fred. But you were never meant to be in control. You're a tool, just like Jason, and now you've served your purpose. Do you really think you could've risen above us?"

Fred's hands clenched into fists at his sides, rage boiling within him, but it was useless. The walls around him felt insurmountable, the people who had once been his friends now distant figures who mocked him from the heights of their power.

"You will regret this," Fred whispered, his voice hoarse but laced with venom. "You think you can control everything? You're wrong."

Ronan's eyes glinted with amusement. "You've already lost. The moment you walked into this room, you sealed your fate."

Jason turned and headed for the door, his back to Fred. "Enjoy your fall from grace, Fred. It'll be entertaining to watch."

--

The room seemed to close in on Fred as he watched Jason leave, his footsteps echoing in the silence. Fred stood motionless for a moment, the weight of his failure pressing down on him like a stone.

Ronan walked over to Fred, his presence suffocating. "You can't escape it, Fred. You're in too deep now. The world is bigger than your high school fantasies. Welcome to reality."

Fred's mind was spinning. He knew what Ronan was implying. He had entered a world that wasn't just about power; it was about survival. And if he wasn't careful, if he didn't find a way to fight back, he would be consumed by it.

But he couldn't stay here, not like this. The anger inside him, the need for revenge, burned through him, lighting a fire that hadn't been there before. He had been used, and now he would use whatever he had left to tear this game apart.

He turned, running toward the door, but Ronan's voice stopped him cold.

"You're not leaving, Fred. Not like this."

The door slammed shut behind him, and Fred turned to find two men blocking the exit. They were Ronan's enforcers, and their cold, calculating eyes were all too familiar.

Fred's chest tightened. He was trapped.

---

As Ronan's enforcers closed in on him, Fred fought to keep his composure. They were here to make sure he didn't run, but Fred wasn't ready to give up. He had too much to lose now.

"What do you want from me?" Fred demanded, his voice shaking with frustration.

One of the men smirked. "We're just following orders. Ronan wants you to understand your place."

Fred gritted his teeth, every nerve in his body screaming to fight, but he knew he couldn't take them both on. Not here, not now. "I don't care what Ronan wants. I'm done being his puppet."

The man's smile faded. "You don't get to decide when you're done. The game is over when Ronan says it is."

Fred took a step back, weighing his options. He could try to fight his way out, but it was futile. The room felt smaller now, the walls closing in on him as the realization settled. The power he had once dreamed of, the life he had hoped to build, was slipping away from his grasp.

But he wasn't finished yet.

With a sudden surge of adrenaline, Fred bolted toward the side window, throwing himself at it with every ounce of strength he had left. The glass shattered as he crashed through, landing on the other side in a tangle of glass and dust.

---

Fred didn't stop. He couldn't. The cold night air cut through him, but he kept running, his breath coming in ragged gasps. The city stretched out before him, unfamiliar and hostile. But Fred didn't care. He had to get away, to distance himself from Ronan and everything that had happened.

His mind was racing, torn between the desire for revenge and the desperation to escape the web that Ronan had spun. He knew he couldn't do it alone. If he was going to survive this, he would need help. But the question was, who could he trust?

Fred had been so sure of his alliances before, so certain that he had the upper hand. But now, as he ran through the night, he realized that everything he had thought he knew was a lie. He was on his own, caught in a game where the rules were constantly changing.

As Fred disappeared into the shadows, a new chapter in his life was beginning. But it was no longer about high school politics or petty betrayals. It was about power, survival, and the lengths he was willing to go to in order to take back what was stolen from him.
