Chapter 19 - 19 - THE WINK THAT RUINED MY ANGER

POV: Sanvi

Sanvi's peaceful dream of eating pani puri with Pranjal under the Eiffel Tower gets rudely interrupted-

Not by her alarm clock,

But by the latest episode of "Maa Papa's Fight Club: Volume Infinity."

Yup. Her parents were at it again-yelling like they were auditioning for a soap opera with zero chill and maximum volume.

If the neighbors didn't know what was going on before, they probably had popcorn ready by now.

Sanvi groaned and pulled the pillow over her head.

"God, please, just five more minutes. I was literally in Paris with Pranjal!"

But no, sleep had left the chat.

And if she didn't get up soon, the shouting would switch to a new target: her.

Cut to: Speedrun Mode Activated.

She scrambled out of bed like a zombie in fast-forward, brushed her teeth like she was in a Colgate ad, and somehow got dressed with her eyes half-shut.

When she stepped out, she paused.

"Huh?"

Her sister's cycle was gone.

Aashvi had already left.

Without her.

Again.

Classic.

And lately, Aashvi had been acting like Sanvi was some contagious disease.

Giving her attitude, snapping at her for no reason.

Like she'd stolen her last Maggi packet or something.

"Chill, girl. I didn't steal your crush." (At least, not on purpose.)

But Sanvi wasn't in the mood to solve the mystery of 'Why Is Aashvi Always Mad?'

Not today.

Because today...

She had to meet Pranjal.

Yes, the Pranjal.

The boy with the charming smile and the habit of accidentally making her heart do backflips.

Usually, he came looking for her-but today?

She was going to him.

Confident. Determined. Slightly sleep-deprived.

And all of it just after dropping off Aashvi's lunchbox like a good, ignored sibling.

---

During the Assembly -

"Okay. Deep breath. Where is he? Row one, nope. Row two, negative. Row three-who the heck is that with the bird's nest hair?"

She scanned the crowd like a detective in a school uniform.

But Pranjal was nowhere.

"Did he oversleep? Is he sick? Or did he just... ghost me IRL?"

"Watch him walk in late with that sleepy face and say, 'Oops, I forgot.' I swear I'll throw my math notebook at him."

Sanvi stood in the assembly line, clutching her bag like it held all her feelings, while her best friend whispered,

"Why do you look like you just got dumped without dating?"

She rolled her eyes.

"Because love is pain, Pragya Love is pain."

Got it! Here's your scene translated into funny, dramatic English without the Desi expressions-just that universal teen rom-com chaos:

---

POV: Pranjal

If I'm late to school today, I'm not even scared of the teacher.

Sanvi's going to murder me.

She's definitely going to say,

"Oh look, the Kumbhkaran of the 21st century finally woke up!"

And now here I am, stuck in the latecomers' line like I've committed a felony.

Great.

First, public embarrassment.

Then a motivational speech from the teacher about how I'm "wasting my potential."

Wait...

Why is Sanvi staring over here?

Towards my class row?

Oh no.

She's searching for me.

She's literally scanning the crowd like an undercover FBI agent trying to catch a criminal.

A criminal named... me.

---

Sanvi (in full rage mode, whispering to herself):

"Let that pig show up. I'm going to punch him so hard he'll need a new face for picture day."

---

Assembly Ends -

Sanvi posts herself at her class gate like she owns the place.

Eyes darting.

Scanning the crowd.

Ready to catch Pranjal in 4K before the teacher arrives.

Sanvi (thinking hard):

"I just know it. My gut says he's here. My inner GPS is never wrong."

And then-BAM.

She spots him.

Pranjal walks in late like nothing happened, gives her a wink and a stupid eyebrow wave like he's in some cheesy rom-com trailer.

They don't say a word.

But their eyes have an entire conversation.

A language only they understand.

Sanvi sees it...

and her anger?

Gone.

Poof.

Replaced with the most uncontrollable smile.

Just in time for the Class Teacher to appear like a horror movie jumpscare.

Sanvi dives into her seat like she wasn't just mentally throwing flowers at a boy.

---

Sanvi's POV:

"Well, at least he escaped my wrath. Now I can meet him properly at lunch."

---

Lunch Break ~

The bell rings.

Sanvi RUNS.

Not walks-runs like she's in an Olympic sprint, dodging slow students and backpacks flying out of lockers.

She races upstairs and-

There he is.

Pranjal.

Leaning casually in the corridor, drinking water from his bottle without even touching it to his lips.

Cool guy mode: activated.

Sanvi (mind melting):

"How is he this hot while drinking water? His Adam's apple is literally doing the Macarena. Someone call security."

Pranjal sees her staring.

Pranjal (confused, panicking internally):

"Why is she smiling? Why is she not yelling? What's happening? Is this a trap? Am I being punk'd?"

---

Sanvi (walking up casually):

"Hi. Looks like someone finally got a full eight hours of sleep last night."

Pranjal (blushing, panicking, dying inside):

"Okay wow... please don't say that out loud. I get secondhand embarrassment just by hearing it."

Sanvi bursts into laughter-the kind that makes people turn around and stare.

They stand there, talking like nothing else exists.

Both smiling, both pretending not to notice how awkwardly happy they are.

But someone does notice.

Someone standing far away.

Watching.

Fuming.

Burning with jealousy.
