Chapter 6 - Chapter 5: A year of training

3rd Pov

A few days has passed since the kidnapping and Dawn was in front of his mother with Chloe at his side.

Lara : So let me recapitulate, you traveler saved my son from a kidnapping and now want to train him ?

Chronoa : Indeed.

Chloe had presented herself as Chronoa, her true name shouldn't be known by anyone...

Lara : I see, fine.

Chronoa : I know it's hard for you to tru-eh ?

Lara : I said fine, if Dawn-chan trusts you then I do too.

Dawn : (I knew she would allow it.)

Hiding his smirk, Dawn side-eyed Chloe who just contempled the scene dumbfounded...even if she was wearing her mask, Dawn could feel her widened eyes.

Chloe : (What kind of duo mother and son they are...one is a freaking reincarnator who knows everything about us and the other is a nonchalant and innocent woman...)

The hero sighed and could just go along...from that moment onward months had passed as Dawn finally got to start true training.

The first few weeks were hard as his body barely adapted to Chloe and Hinata's ruthless training...physical enhancement or swordsmanship.

Chloe had some frustration to let out after knowing how many women hypothetically loved Rimuru in the future.

Because of this, Dawn had to suffer on several occasions bursts of training passing from hard to extreme but the results were here.

Reaching the age of 8, he was already proficient in holding a sword...not at the level of a royal knight but this was just a matter of time.

He had memorized most of Chloe's technique and Hinata's way of sword...the only reason he still lacked was his body.

It wasn't full grown, his strength and speed along agility, flexibility and more are not at their peak yet.

But that was fine, by now Dawn could surely take on D rank monsters by large numbers and individually handle C rank if the match up is met.

Now passing to his magic and skill, he also managed to learn a few things but mainly spirit art from Hinata.

The cold sword saint was surprised by Dawn's thirst for learning...but she could understand him to some degree.

He was finally able to use the magic and power that he saw until recently as fiction...this was like a dream coming truth.

Also Hinata was surprised at his affinity with spirit...he was like her as an individual liked by the spirit making the learning of spiritual arts easier.

Hinata : Listen, spirits seem to naturally come to you...it's to a point where your affinity with them surpasses even mine...

Talking using Chloe's body, Hinata was now teaching Dawn...the two being in a plain outside the capital.

Hinata explained clearly how spiritual arts worked...this includes how to make a pact with a spirit, how to summon them, how to use their power once the pact is done.

When she discovered Dawn's affinity, she was left speechless...in his first try multiple lesser spirits of all kinds appeared.

And without doubt more would have come if Dawn had a better control over his magicule...

Dawn : (My affinity with spirits is that high ? While I guess I can forget summoning demons now...as they are the natural enemy of the spirits.)

The angels are superior to the spirits, the spirits are superior to the demons and the demons are superior to the angels...

That was the natural order of the nature Veldanava had created.

But then Dawn suddenly realized something, during the kidnapping he had fallen into their trap after following a lesser spirit.

He had deduced he could see them because of his unique skill but in reality...it should be more because the lesser spirit liked him and allowed him to see him.

It could be because of both his skill and the spirit so right now he couldn't reach a definitive answer.

Hinata : Anyway, it seem that once you control your magicule perfectly summoning greater spirit would be a peace of cake.

Dawn : That's nice to hear.

Hinata : Still be careful, even among the spirits some of them are ill intentioned.

Dawn : I see.

This was something he didn't know...perhaps that's what spirit of darkness meant, the opposite of light.

This resumes Dawn's new path, he at first wanted to focus on magic training but spiritual arts are much more unique and stronger if controlled.

Though he won't neglect his training at any level...after all, he deduced that his affinity for ice magic is at the same level as for the spirits.

There is also the fact that Sola wasn't able to see his affinity for Spirits mean she couldn't see it because Spirits are living beings or that his affinity is due to his other unique skill.

He had much more mysteries to resolve around himself before he could make significant progress.

Now passing to his progress on his skill part, the unique skill : Reader developed further inside Dawn's mind.

He uncovered more of its capability finding, it was still faint but he could read the movement of its opponent like in a book along that reading the natural chemical composition of objects was possible.

For example he could read around the line while observing a rock and see its composition...Carbonate of calcium, Silicate and dense magicule.

By that, he could also possibly read the flow of blood inside the human body and find a miracle way to repair or destroy shock points.

With that Dawn understood that the skill : Reader was one of those skills you should translate literally for his ability.

So maybe he would also be able to read the emotions of others, read their skills and much more..;this was a very op if all he thought ever happened.

Anyway a year then passed but this single year where he was taught by Chloe/Hinata was fruitful and opened him multiple gates for the future.

But for now, it was time to say goodbye...as Chloe as the masked hero had duty to attend.

With her help, Dawn managed to approximately scale the timeline...it was different than in the novel.

Right noW, there was around the time where Milim became a demon lord...20000 years before Rimuru reincarnation.

Here it's 5000 years before, in a few years Dagurel and Luminous would join the great demon lord while after that Millennia later the new demon lord would join in aka Frey, Carrion and Clayman.

Veldora's rampage would begin 300 years before Rimuru's reincarnation and Chloe would go to slumber 280 years before.

This leaves Dawn a shit ton of time but he was confident he could achieve a pseudo immortality when it comes to age.

Anyway, at the moment Dawn and Chloe were behind the mansion...the hero had already given her goodbye to Lara and packed her things.

Dawn : Well, I guess you can't stay longer...

Chloe : Yes, it's time for me to make a name so I can catch the attention of Luminous.

Over the years, the two of them had grown closer...it wasn't love or romantic feeling since both of them wouldn't be able to.

Dawn was someone who knew everything about her, and she loved Rimuru as for Chloe. She saw him more like a companion and little brother with benefit.

Dawn : I see, good luck then but no need for a serious goodbye in a few years we'll meet again.

Chloe : Sure, at exactly 10 when you turn 17, the beta version of the adventurer guild would be created...it isn't as good as Yuuki's freedom guild but nonless a good way to gain experience.

Dawn : Noted, hopefully we'll work together.

Chloe : I'm sure we will, then good luck Dawn-kun.

Smiling under her mask she turned away waving her hand...space bending as she walked, she just teleported away...

Leaving Dawn staring at the empty air...

Dawn : I would have liked to pass more time with you...

He muttered before closing his eyes and shortly after left for his room.

Multiple days then passed until Dawn's door was forced as a living bomb entered...

Sola : Yooo ! Where is she ?!

Not even looking at her, Dawn was studying a book called : The art of forging...an interesting book which had given him multiple names of famous blacksmiths and their method of forging.

Dawn : You are finally here, you took a year to understand that Chloe was here...

Sola : Y-you...like I just heard you got a teacher !

Dawn : In my mother's letter, it was said I got a black haired teacher who hid her true name but is very skilled...

Sola : W-well...i was busy ! I'm starting school in a year so...

Dawn : Oh right...now that I think I have to visit the main mansion soon...to meet my « dear » brother.

Entering a phase of deep thinking, he was 7 and around time to be introduced to the main family.

He wasn't expecting anything but to free her mother from these binds he would have to destroy the viscount Lavane.

So meeting his future enemy isn't bad, though he would most likely be treated like trash.

Sola : Oh that...i think it's planned in two months.

Dawn : I still got time, huh...

Sola : You still have something to do ?

Dawn : Way too much actually...

Sola : Ugh, I mean what did you plan for the next two months ?

Dawn : Does it concern you ?

Acting a little cold, Sola pouted and turned away with a hmph...years had passed since they last met.

Their way of communication were per letters and since Sola's father wasn't fond of Dawn, he just didn't come visit.

Lastly Sola was too young to travel alone, even more so when she was the jewel of the family, a prodigy that needed to be protected.

But now she was 11, and grew into a cute young lady whose blonde hair reached her shoulder, her green eyes gained pigment making them feel like emeralds.

She could also go out and had her own carriage.

Sola : Fine if you don't want to tell me...I wanted to pass more time with thought...

Dawn : ...we're half siblings please no incest.

Sola : Idiot ! Like hell I would like someone blood related !

This wasn't actually uncommon in the cardinal world but the two of them had value from Earth.

Incest isn't actually even wrong, it's just genetically bad.

Dawn : Good anyway for your question, I'm going to search for a blacksmith and make a katana.

Sola : Huh ? Well okay for the blacksmith but there is no way you'll get a katana...like even if you convince a blacksmith to follow your instruction it would take decades before you get a satisfying result.

Dawn : Yes...but I don't intend to let them make it, I'm just searching for a blacksmith to do a sort of internship and learn the basics on the field directly.

Sola : You want to make it yourself ?

Dawn : My skill allows me to learn fast too, when I get the basics I would be able to use all the knowledge I had gathered and forge surely an A grade weapon.

Sola : You sound confident, then let me come with you !

Smiling proudly, Dawn already had the intention of letting her come since she was an influential individual heir of a viscount family.

It would be easier for him to get an internship if she is here.

Dawn : Then I'll come pick you up at your room tomorrow.

Sola : Oki, you also need to show me what you learned from Chloe ! Speaking of her, where is she ? I want to meet her !

Dawn : She already went off.

Sola : Eh ?

Dawn : Don't worry you'll meet her in a few years.

Sola : Y-you...

Dawn : Angel ? Yeah, I know I'm sometimes too good with others.

Sola : Bastard !!!!

With that, the two continued on their adventure...the next day they went out to the city, their destination being the 3 best blacksmiths which are located in 3 different sectors of the capital.

A lot of walk...

Sola Pov

Walking in the capital with a friend feels so refreshing ! I would lie if i said i wasn't here to meet Chloe...but in truth i also wanted to be here for Dawn-kun.

It's not love...it's more loneliness, my entire group of « friends » are noble ladies who think with their tits and gold.

So i was pretty lonely and the fact that i couldn't even meet the only i could call a friend for years...this naturally made me build stress and envy.

But now I'm here ! In a year or rather 9 months i'll start the academy which promotes both knight and mage.

Fortunately, it's located near the East part which is where the Mansion of the Baron Arceid is.

So I managed to convince my father to send me here...thought like always he wanted ill from others so tasked me to watch the Arceid family and report him if anything happened.

Which I absolutely would not.

Anyway now I am having the best time of my last few years by just walking...compared to my past life I got money here, and a lot of money.

So buying things isn't a problem, I can make as many memories as I want...9 months, that is an odd number for some reason...

Anyway, this is the time I have left here before going to the academy and living there directly.

I have to make the most of it...

Dawn : By the way, I will need your help.

Sola : Sure !

I smiled brightly, it might have appeared fake for him but it was genuine...i just want a friend i could talk freely with.

Dawn : Your skill: System can see the quality of a weapon too, right.

Sola : Indeed.

Dawn : Then when we enter the blacksmith shop, scan all the swords and see if there is one that stood out, we'll do it for the 3 shops and choose one after.

Sola : Sure.

So he wanted to use my eyes...well i don't really mind, this reminds me of Classroom of the elite...

Ayanokoji uses everyone and sees them as nothing but tools...this mindset is cruel but the most realistic.

After all you make friends to use them to not feel lonely...this is a simple exemple that just shows that humans cannot live alone.

We are a race that follows the rule of cooperation...alone we are weaker than most animals while together we become the strongest.

My eyes turned colder...

Sola : But in the end, this cooperation was meant to help everyone until greed manifested destroying this balance...

I muttered quietly as for no one to hear me...the concept of working together slowly turned into using others to get yourself better.

Exploiting in modern society is like slavery but a consented one...the only way to get out of it is to become the one who takes advantage of others.

Us women had it easier...if you chose this path of lust...

My eyes turned colder and colder...I recalled some painful memories and traumatism.

But before I could get too deep inside, I felt a flick of my finger hit my forehead...

Sola : Ouch !

Dawn : Stop dreaming, rock head.

Sola : Mouu, you could be more gentle with a lady !

Dawn : Shut and come, we're here.

Holding my forehead, I pouted as he ignored my pain and just entered the shop...a luxurious one that was adorned with gold and diamond.

The blacksmith working here is a renowned one who forged the royal knight captain's sword...though after entering the weapon barely passed an average grade.

It was sure good and sturdy for this era, but my skill rate with the best quality and rating I had in my memories.

Simply, my skill is comparing weapons here and the quality of weapons in my past life and future of Tensura like Sword of Tempest...

The gao in quality is just too big...but here it's not even passing 0.5 on 10 which 1 is above average.

Sola : We should go, this place is expensive for nothing.

Dawn : I see...well I couldn't expect much from a blacksmith famous for only 1 sword.

Sola : We should go to the next one.

Dawn-kun just nodded and we departed. On the way we stopped at a few shops and found a few meaningless things such as necklaces, bracelets and goodies like that.

Dawn : I'll think I'll buy that.

Sola : Mmh ?

Turning around, I watched as he picked up a necklace with a oval shape, a ruby encrusted in some kind of metal.

Sola : Are you into necklace ?

Dawn : Well, I wore one in my past life...also this one is kind of special.

Sola : Mmh ?

Handling the necklace to me, I started manipulating it a little and heard a click when i slided a part of the necklace to the right.

Huh ? There are two necklaces in one ? And to my surprise the form of the ruby changed...it was cut into two.

I didn't properly analyze it when I first looked...on my left hand was a moon shaped ruby while in my right hand was a sun shaped necklace.

Dawn : I'll keep the moon, you can have the sun since it fits with your name.

Sola : ...

This guy...i don't know if he is doing it intentionally or just acting naturally but this is kind of a thing you do with your love partner...

Still, I couldn't help a tear flow down my cheek...

Sola : Huh ?

Dawn ; You were feeling lonely, right I heard an object could remind you of someone you liked, so I at least hope you see me as a friend.

Taking the moon part, he smiled before turning away to pay for the necklace...I was left hanging staring at the empty space he was just a moment ago.

Sola : He noticed, huh...

Holding my part of the necklace tightly, he was right this single piece of object would become one of my most precious possessions.

Sola : Thanks Dawn-kun...it means a lot to me...
