Damien was stunned hearing these words at first but then he smirked and said coldly, "So this is your new way to annoy me. Let me tell you Joy, I won't let you go this time. I need a divorce. I can't live with someone like you who doesn't care about anything but herself"
"You say you loved me, but did you do anything to prove that you love me? I know you only married me because of your dying grandfather like I did to fulfill my grandfather's wish. But at least I did my best to make this marriage peaceful but what did you do? You did whatever you wanted, you didn't care about my family nor about anything. All you did was shopping and partying. Let's be honest, you didn't marry me because you love me but because you love the title of Mrs Wellington right? But I am done, I no longer want to remain in a marriage with you. So just sign the divorce papers and let's part ways. I will give you alimony after divorce and also a house. You can live the rest of your life in peace without worrying about anything. You won't be at a loss if we get divorced." he said as he threw the divorce papers at her face.
Joy was annoyed hearing his words but she didn't want to show her weak side in front of him.
She was the queen of Reval kingdom and he was just an ordinary man who barged into her room to yell at her.
But she couldn't say anything because she was in Joy's body and she needed to face the consequences of Joy's actions.
If she has to divorce him then she would. Because she was not the same Joy who did anything for the king's love.
After experiencing death, she had grown a lot.
She looked at the divorce papers and grimaced. They were in a strange language.
(the English language had changed from what Joy used in her past life)
"You tried to attempt suicide by jumping in the pool when you don't know how to swim. Do you want to gain my sympathy by doing this? If that is your plan then I am sorry, Miss Joy, you are wrong. You can fool grandfather but not me." He pointed at the divorce papers. "sign them"
He was waiting for her to cry and say that she would not divorce him and maybe threaten to complain to his grandfather but he was determined this time.
He knew that she didn't love him but the status of Mrs Wellington. She was just a heartless materialistic woman who was stubborn and arrogant.
He had tried his best to go through with this marriage but she always suspected him of cheating. She would fight over small issues. Soon, it became hard to live with her.
So he decided to divorce her and this time he was determined about it.
Her failed attempt of suicide couldn't threaten him.
Joy who was staring at him understood that he was the husband of the girl whose body she was in.
But she couldn't understand the situation.
Why did it seem that it was Joy's fault that their marriage has broken apart. And who tries to take their life just to gain someone's sympathy?
She remembered that she also died by drowning in the sea. But at least she had been pushed. She hadn't fallen into the sea intentionally.
The more she thought about it, the more it felt strange.
She was lost in her thoughts while Damien silently looked at her face.
He kept wondering why she was silent. She hadn't shouted at him or fought back, instead she seemed to be lost in thought.
It was not like Joy.
Remembering all her painful memories, Joy's brows furrowed and her eyes were filled with different emotions of regret, love and pain.
She didn't know who had pushed her. She had always taken a stroll by that cliff and nothing was there that could have made her fall.
She wondered what was happening back home? Had her body been found? Did Jonathan even feel guilt or pain at her drag?
Damien looked at Joy who had a bitter and troubled look on her face.
Seeing those emotions on her face, the coldness in his eyes reduced a bit.
He felt uncomfortable with her face as she turned to look at him but he tried to maintain a straight face.
He was waiting for her to cry, scream or throw things. But her reply shocked him.
"We are married, right? Though you don't love me but at least you should have a little conscience. I just woke up from a coma and I don't remember anything, not even my name. But you didn't even enquire about my condition instead you are asking for a divorce? Fine, if that's what you want, I will give it to you but I have a condition."
Damien started at her thoughtfully as he was trying to comprehend the situation.
His assistant Sam came to him and explained the whole situation in a low voice.
Sam had gone to the doctor on Damien's order to know more about Joy's condition.
Damien had been in an important meeting when he got a call from the hospital informing him that Joy had woken up.
He immediately left the meeting and went to the hospital to meet her.
After listening to Sam's words, he looked at Joy.
He didn't know if she forgot her memories or she was pretending.
He stared at her as he tried to figure out her thoughts. He hadn't married her because he loved her but because his grandfather had given him a condition to marry her or forfeit the company.
He had thought he would start liking her or even fall in love with her after marriage. But her possessiveness and reckless living had created distance between them and they fought a lot.
