Chapter 1 - Prologue - The Other World

Dreams.

They're funny, but interesting.

They come, and they go—sudden, slippery.

Some dreams feel rushed. They leave behind something uncanny. Like something was cut short.

Some feel just right. Leaving their mark as a lost at youth, but still greatly influential memory.

And some—Some go on too long.

For better or for worse; they're given time. Time to change. Time to evolve.

They're weirdly erratic, yet their flow remains slow, smooth and consistent. Like the memory of a past life escaping through the cracks of heaven and hell, giving us their insight—vision, warnings.

Those Dreams are truly dreadful.

They leave, in their absence, cold sweats, shaken thoughts, and the kind of emotions you'd try to bury quickly before anyone can see them shedding through your mask.

The fears and hopes they plant don't just vanish either.

Sprouting through their shell. Shooting through your chest.

They blossom. Becoming a tree so big that no lumberjack could cut down.

Roots like creepers, coiling around muscles and veins so no surgeon can remove it.

Stuck in a perpetual motion of growing, scaring its host by its size and weight, and feeding off of that fear to grow more.

These Dreams were a harrowing rot that latched onto anything organic and artificial on its world.

The humans. The animals. The plants. The Earth. The sky. The Gods.

It hungered and devoured.

As the dreams influence grew, so did its power. Changing the things it infected into equals. Its thralls like burr seeds, latching onto anything, hoping to hitch a ride further away.

Eventually, dreams began to consume each other.

And then, time itself.

They had broken through something beyond the elements. It had broken through the invisible barrier and begun feasting on everything past, present and future.

This was The Other World.

A world where everything was an unending crescendo.

A world where even the sun had been swallowed.

The moon. The stars. All of it.

Nothing was left untouched.

Everything was a grand feast.

A royal buffet.

And the rot was inviting something new to join it.
