Not long after the group went out, Jian Yi bumped into the iron gate, creating a loud noise that drew the surrounding zombies toward them. Ji Lian and the others chose to run downstairs, while Jian Yi and her group ran up to the third floor.
Meanwhile, Zhang's mother arrived at the school, only to find the surroundings in complete disarray. Just as she was about to enter the school gate...
Ji Lian and his group entered a classroom on the lower floor and locked the door tightly. "What do we do now?" Li Yi Tong said.
Chen Qi suggested, "Let's run to the front gate. There are too many zombies at the back gate now."
Ji Lian immediately objected, "We don't even know the situation at the front gate. What if there are even more zombies there?"
Chen Qi insisted on going to the front gate. Hao Yu couldn't take it anymore and said, "If you want to go, then go by yourself. We'll take the back gate."
Li Yi Tong chimed in, "Come on, wouldn't it be better to stick together?"
Ji Lian said, "Fine, if you're going to the front gate, we'll go with you."
Chen Qi shot a smug look at Hao Yu, who glared back angrily.
Elsewhere, Jian Yi and her group hid in the restroom, where they also found Mei Yu, the school bully who had tormented Ji Lian, and Principal Chen.
Jian Yi spoke up, "Principal Chen, why are you in the girls' restroom?"
Principal Chen replied, "Does it even matter at a time like this?" He then said, "Maybe we should go outside."
Jian Yi said, "I'm not going. I almost died because of Ji Lian just now."
The principal said, "I have a plan..."
Back with Ji Lian's group, just as they were about to leave, a voice came from behind:
"Can you take me with you?"
Hao Yu immediately responded, "Of course!"
"No, stay away from us," Chen Qi snapped.
Hao Yu grabbed Chen Qi's sleeve and yelled, "What's your problem?!"
Yi Tong quickly stepped in to mediate, "Stop fighting, come on."
Hao Yu shoved Yi Tong away and snapped, "Can you stop pretending to be the nice guy all the time? It's so annoying!"
Ji Lian interjected, "Enough! Stop arguing. It's really frustrating."
"Hao Yu, me, and that other student will take the back gate. As for you two... figure it out yourselves."
The scene shifts to Jian Yi, who had just peeked out to check for zombies. Principal Chen took the opportunity to grab her.
Jian Yi demanded, "What are you doing?!"
The principal said, "This is part of the plan."
He then threw her toward the zombie horde and ran downstairs, with Mei Yu following closely. Jian Yi's best friend stood frozen in place, and the next moment...
Hearing the commotion caused by the principal and Mei Yu, the zombies all rushed toward them. Seizing the chance, Ji Lian led Hao Yu and the other student out, only for a few zombies to suddenly lunge at them from the side and knock them down.
Suddenly, an adult male wielding a shovel swung at the zombies, swiftly taking them out before leading the group into his house.
Chen Qi and Yi Tong weren't as lucky. Just as they were about to escape through the school gate, they encountered a few zombies. Chen Qi shoved Yi Tong toward them, using her as bait while he fled.
The scene shifts to Mei Yu. Seeing zombies about to pounce on her, she immediately pulled Principal Chen in front of her. The principal was bitten, while Mei Yu jumped from the second floor, breaking her leg before ultimately being killed by zombies.
Ji Lian was about to thank the homeowner when the man poured three glasses of water and handed them over, saying, "Are you all okay?"
Ji Lian quickly replied, "We're fine. Thank you."
"No need for thanks," the homeowner said. "Rest for a bit."
Hao Yu asked the other student for his name. The student replied, "I'm Jian Yi. Zhuang Jian Yi."
The homeowner then said, "If we can drive across that bridge, we'll be safe."
Hao Yu asked, "Are you sure?"
"I don't know, but that's what the news said," the homeowner replied.
Ji Lian asked, "What should we call you?"
The homeowner said, "My surname is Kong. Just call me Mr. Kong."
"Can you take us with you?" Liu Hao Yu asked.
Mr. Kong said, "Of course. Eat something first, then we'll leave."
The three of them answered in unison, "Okay."
Elsewhere, Chen Qi found himself in a car. Spotting the keys nearby, he started the engine and prepared to drive off.
Chen Qi had always played racing games at home, so he knew how to drive.
At the same time, Mr. Kong set off with Ji Lian and the others. During the drive, they encountered Chen Qi.
"Why are they still alive?!" Chen Qi muttered.
Furious, he slammed the accelerator and rammed into Mr. Kong's car. Due to the impact, Jian Yi was thrown through the shattered windshield and flung out of the vehicle.
Ji Lian screamed, "Jian Yi!!!"
Chen Qi, being too short to see a cement block ahead, crashed into it. He crawled out of the wreckage and smirked at Mr. Kong's car...
Mr. Kong had been impaled in the abdomen by glass shards, causing him to lose control of the car before ultimately crashing into a streetlight. Ji Lian and Hao Yu quickly got out and tried to pull him to safety, but Mr. Kong said, "Go on without me. That bridge up ahead—cross it, and you'll be safe."
Before leaving, Ji Lian said, "Thank you."
They ran to the intersection. With his last ounce of strength, Mr. Kong used a lighter to ignite the car. A moment later—BOOM! The explosion killed several nearby zombies and drew the attention of others.
They ran for their lives as the zombie horde surged behind them, their growls and footsteps merging into a terrifying chorus of death.
Suddenly, Zhang Ji Lian tripped over a rock and fell hard. Hao Yu immediately turned back, grabbing his arm and pulling him up:
"Run! Don't stop!"
Just then, they spotted a helicopter rising in the distance. Hao Yu waved his arms and screamed at the top of his lungs:
"Hey! There are still people here!"
But the people in the helicopter didn't seem to hear—the roar of the engine drowned out their cries. At the last second, Zhang Ji Lian leaped up and grabbed the helicopter's landing skid. Hao Yu followed, clinging to Ji Lian's ankle. With all their strength, they finally pulled themselves aboard.
