Chapter 1 - Start

I found myself quite bored. Dance competitions had never been something I enjoyed. I was only here because my brother was participating in this particular event.

"Xela, when will your brother perform?" my mother asked, her voice tinged with impatience.

"After this group, I think," I replied, trying to mask my disinterest.

"I really dislike waiting," she muttered.

Honestly, if waiting bothered her that much, she could've stayed home.

A few more minutes passed before my brother's group emerged from backstage. We had seats right in front of the stage. Despite her earlier irritation, my mom was now yelling enthusiastically. I covered my ears and rolled my eyes—the sudden shift in her mood was almost comical.

As I watched my brother perform, I had to admit—he was truly talented. Their group's performance was impressive, and he looked genuinely happy. I was glad for him.

The crowd erupted in applause once they finished. I clapped along, albeit slowly.

I reminded myself to be supportive. After all, I had agreed to come mainly because I had plans to go shopping afterward. I couldn't wait to explore Tokyo.

"Before we announce the champion, may we invite a representative from each group to come forward?" the MC announced.

All the performers lined up on stage. I noticed my brother stepping ahead of his group. I folded my arms."He's bold," I thought.

From experience, I suspected this meant there'd be a one-on-one dance battle before the winner was announced. It was common in the competitions he once joined.

"Xela, I'm heading out to shop first. Wait for your brother, alright?" my mom said abruptly as she began gathering her things.

She dashed out quickly. I pinched the bridge of my nose in frustration. "I can't believe this. I wanted to go shopping too. Why am I the one left waiting?"

As the battle began, my eyes drifted to my brother's opponent.

A girl? I thought, surprised. Could she really match Xiel's skills?

She wore an oversized shirt and loose pants, with a cap hiding most of her face. I couldn't get a clear look at her.

But the moment she began her routine, my jaw dropped. I instantly retracted my earlier doubts.

I was completely captivated—especially when she removed her cap.

Her presence was magnetic. I was speechless. Something about her, particularly her sleepy yet piercing eyes, held me in awe.

"You've got to be kidding me," I murmured.

I gave myself a light slap on the cheek.

Shit. She was exactly my type.
