As his awakening began, all of the veins on his body starded bulging, both of the marks on his body started beating like drums, the one shaped like a flamme exploded with heat and light.
I burned all the oxygene around him, he tried to scream but couldn't, he tried to cry but there was no water left in his eyes and the moment he vomited because of the pain the dirty liquid evaporated instantly.
But that was not all of what was happening to him, at the same time the mark on his ribs shone with a dark eerie light and leaked a shadow like fog that envelopped the rest of his body. As it did the parts that were engulfed in the shadows seemed to be blinking in and out of existence, tangible one moment and not the other.
As all of that was happening a few tears rolled out of Darian cheeks, then he asked Korr:
"What's happening, is it going well ?"
" I wouldn't know, the mark of the light deity is strong with Cael, so I suppose that explain the pain, but I have no clue about the second one"
The sight was terrifying, both of them did not know what to do so they waited. They did so in a silence broken only by the noise of the boy's burning body.
An hour had already passed and nothing changed, Cael was begging all the gods for it to stop but they did not anwser, he plunged his nail in the ground and scratched them until the blood coming out evaporated. He begged for death but it never came. All that was left was despair and it was crushing.
When Cael couldn't beg anymore he started cursing, he cursed the gods for giving him parts of their lineage, he cursed fate for putting him on this path,
" How dare they do this to me, how dare they make me suffer this way, I've never done anything wrong in my life and that's what I'm given. I killed them all, all these gods will suffer my wrath, lady fate herself will cower infront of me. They will all pay."
When he thought that the light started to dim and the shadows began to retreat as if the world was scared of him, and then everything stopped.
The moment that happened btoh Korr and Darian rushed to see him but a second later he passed out.
As Darian craweld in his son's direction he cursed his legs for not working, then Korr grabbed him to take him next to Cael. Darian sobbed, he was so thankfull that his son was alright... well he was alive at least.
Cael was unconscious but he was dreaming, he dreamt of a giant tree with soft and gentle light caressing his face. The tree trunk was fourty meters in diameter and at least a kilometer high, it had thousands of branches and an uncountable number of bright emerald leaves. As he studied the tree a question arose:
"How can a tree like that exist, how much time did it take to grow that big and how much water would it need ?"
As he thought that one anwser came directly, there right behind the tree rested laid a huge lake filled with onyx black water. It was mesmerizing, there were no waves, no noise coming from the lake, only wind. It was calling him, ordering him to come closer and ge couldn't refuse.
He started running faster and faster towards it, nothing was important in his life now, the only thing that mattered now was this lake and the second he finally reached it he tried to look at his reflection on the surface of the black water he was suddenly overcomed by a terrifying sense of dread.
He was scared but he couldn't stop himself, he couldn't turn his gaze away from his reflection and then his reflection moved. A dark hand came out of the water, an opaque dark smoke was coming out of it, it was freezing, as the hand reached to touch his face it suddenly grabbed him by his hair and dragged him in the water.
There was nothing but darkness, but then he woke up.
