Ava adjusted her crooked glasses, her finger pushing them up as they slid back down her nose. A faint blush tinted her cheeks, and there were faint red marks on the bridge of her nose from wearing them for too long

"So, you're not a scholarship student?" Ava asked, tilting her head as she leaned against the locker.

"No,I was… enrolled here by someone"" Lily replied hesitantly

"Wait, you're not a rich spoiled kid, are you? Because, no offense, you don't exactly look like one."

Lily let out a dry laugh, shifting her bag on her shoulder. "No offense taken. Trust me, I don't feel like one either."

"Wow," Ava said, blinking in surprise. "That different. I mean, I had to bust my ass just to get a scholarship here. My parents could never afford this place. They tried their best, you know? But it's been rough."

"That sounds really hard. You must've worked so hard for this."

"Yeah, I did. And now I'm here, surrounded by people who think money grows on trees. God, it's so fucking exhausting." Ava paused, then gave Lily a sheepish grin. "Sorry, I talk too much sometimes. I'm shy around most people, but once I start…"

"Have you heard about Liam?" Ava asked.

"Liam?" I replied

"Yes, . He just transferred here. You probably saw him at the assembly today."

"Wait," she said, "You're serious? You really don't know who he is? He performed at the assembly yesterday."

"I wasn't there," I admitted, brushing a strand of hair behind my ear.

Ava stopped mid step, turning to look at me like I just committed the ultimate sin. "You don't think you've met him?" she repeated.

"No, I haven't," I said, shrugging.

Her lips parted, then closed again, like she wasn't sure how to process my response. Finally, she said, "Well, you must've at least heard about him. He's all anyone's been talking about since yesterday."

"You weren't?. Everyone's been talking about him."

"Really?" I asked, raising an eyebrow. "Why?"

"He's… well, he's gorgeous. Like,,, ridiculously gorgeous. Tall, white hair, tattoos. He looks like he walked straight out of a K-drama or one of my books." she hugged her books closer to her chest. "And he's talented. He performed one of his songs at the assembly today, and And he's a singer. A talented one, too. He performed one of his songs at the assembly, and let's just say the girls went crazy…"

" He's, like, the most gorgeous guy I've ever seen. And his voice…" She trailed off, her face "It's incredible. He sang this heart wrenching love song, and I swear, I've never heard anything like it. He's just…"

"You have a crush on him, don't you?"

"No!" she said quickly, her voice a little too loud. "Okay, maybe. A tiny one. But it's not a big deal. It's not like I'll ever talk to him or anything."

"Why not?" I asked,

"Because I'm me. A nerd who spends more time in the library than anywhere else. And he's… well, he's Liam. The kind of guy who belongs on a stage or in the spotlight, not in the background with someone like me."

" Guys like Liam don't go for girls like me" she said. "I followed him on social media immediately after" she said, pulling out her phone. She tapped her screen a few times before shoving it in my face.

I blinked, staring at the image. It was a photo of Liam sitting on a stool with a guitar in his hands. His messy white hair fell over his forehead. His tattoos snaked down his arms, and his shirt hugged his toned figure perfectly. He looked like he belonged on a magazine cover.

"His okay"I said almost bored.

"Hi Buddy"

She turned to see a girl bouncing down toward them. She wore a pastel sweater and a pleated skirt.

"Sophia" Ava said as the girl pulled her into a quick hug.

"And who's this" Sophia asked.

"This is Lily, She's new here."

"Sophia!" Ava said with a small smile as the girl pulled her into a quick hug.

"And who's this?" Sophia asked,

"This is Lily," Ava said, motioning toward her. "She's new here."

"Hi," Lily said softly, offering a smile.

"New? Like, completely new?"

"Yeah," Lily replied. "First day."

" Don't worry, Ava and I are, like, the nicest people in this entire school. We'll make sure no one messes with you! So Where are you from?"

"Um… Spain," she said, the first place that popped into her head.

" That's so cool! I've always wanted to visit Spain. The food, the culture, the—oh, wait! Do you speak Spanish?"

. "Uh… sí?"

Ava rolled her eyes "Calm down, Sophia. You're going to scare her off."

"Fuck off, Ava," she muttered.

"Don't mind her. She talks too much, but she means well."

"Fine, fine," Sophia said, raising her hands in surrender. "I'm just trying to get to know our new friend." She turned back to Lily "But seriously, if you need help or just want to rant about , come find me. Ava great, but she can be a bit boring."

"I'm not boring," Ava muttered.

"What's in there" she asked,

"It's just some leftovers. Don't even think about it."

She twisted it open and a rich, savory aroma wafted out, "Oh my god, this smells amazing," she said,

"Sophia, that's mine," Ava groaned, reaching for it, but Sophia was already digging in with the spoon that had been tucked inside

Sophia pouted her lips "Why didn't you tell me your food is this delicious?" she whined, licking the spoon clean

The first bite had Sophia closing her eyes in bliss. "Fuck, Ava, this is incredible. ?" she said, licking her lips.

Ava shot her a deadpan look. "Because you steal it."

Lily couldn't hold back a laugh as Sophia took another bite, pouting her lips as she savored the taste. "Mmm, so good," Sophia mumbled, already going for another spoonful.

"Sharing is caring," Sophia said with a cheeky grin. She took another bite, her cheeks puffed out like a chipmunk. "You can't deny how much I appreciate good food.""

"I didn't even make it My mom packed it this morning," Ava sighed, pushing her glasses up her nose..

"Ava, I offended you'd rather waste it than let me enjoy it. Do you even know how hard it is to find good food in this school?"

The bell rang.

"Guess school is over" Ava said, shoving her glasses up the bridge of her nose as she closed her bag before zipping up her bag.

"Can we go now?" Ava said.

"Alright, alright, I'm coming" Sophia said, "See you later, Lily And don't forget if Ava gets boring, you can always hang with me"

"Thanks," Lily said softly, offering a small smile.

Out stepped a tall figure dressed in dark jeans and a fitted leather jacket. His black boots hit the pavement with a quiet authority, and his sharp features seemed almost too perfect, like he'd stepped out of a high-fashion ad.

The black Bugatti park as Damien leaned casually against it, phone in hand. His dark jeans hugged his legs perfectly, and the fitted leather jacket

"Isn't that Damien?" a girl murmured,

"What is he doing here?" another said.

"He's so damn handsome," someone added, blushing.

"Little princess," he called, his deep voice cutting through the hushed murmurs.

Lily's jaw tightened as Damien walked towards her When he reached her, he didn't say a word, just reached for the car door and opened it.

"What are you doing here, Damien?" Lily demanded, crossing her arms.

"I'm here to pick you up," he replied , leaning slightly against the open door.

"And stop calling me little princess,it's Lily."

"Sure, Lily. But let's be honest 'little princess' suits you better."

"Are you serious right now?" she said, glaring at him.

"Completely," he replied, straightening up. "What, did you want Grumpy Lucifer to send me to my granny instead?"

"Granny?" Lily repeated

"Yeah," Damien said "You know, those ancient lady who probably think sending you with a rusty old car, some knitting needles and marrying a church girl is a good idea."

"But at least you are the better option, don't you think?"

"Are you hurt? Anywhere?"

"No," she said finally.

"Good, "Then get in the car, little princess."

"I don't want to get in," she shot back.

"Too bad," Damien said, shrugging. "I'm not leaving without you. Either you get in, or I carry you in."

"You wouldn't dare"

"Try me," he interrupted

Lily let out a frustrated groan before stomping toward the car and sliding into the passenger seat. The door slammed shut behind her with a thud, and she immediately glared at him as if he was the source of all her problems.

Damien said with a smirk, pulling out of the parking lot and into the street. "Honestly, you can be such a pain in the ass."

"Right back at you," she shot back, her fingers tapping angrily on the armrest.
