Chapter 6 - Chapter 6

Arranged Marriage

Xavier, the enigmatic CEO of Draven Companies, stood at the pinnacle of corporate success, his name synonymous with power, wealth, and influence. His razor sharp instincts and ruthless business tactics had catapulted the company to unprecedented heights, leaving competitors in awe and adversaries in fear.

However, beneath the polished facade of a high powered executive, Xavier harbored a dark secret, one that only a select few knew. By night, he ruled the underworld with an iron fist, his name The Underboss King of Hell whispered in fear and reverence by those who dwelled in the shadows.

He was recruiting for a new secretary to assist him with some of his work. His mother was very worried about him because he never took time to rest. Apparently, she had insisted that he find a secretary, someone other than Lucas or Marcus, to help him stay organized and reduce his workload.

She even went as far as threatening not to eat for days if he didn't hire an assistant or secretary to work by his side.

As he focused on the screen, scrolling through the list of candidates, one name caught his attention: Deyna Wolfe. He couldn't understand why Deyna Wolfe was applying for a secretary position and not aiming for something higher, like Vice President.

Deyna Wolfe was affiliated with a top-tier pharmaceutical and scientific company in the country, one that flourished just as rapidly as his own. That's why he found it odd that Deyna wasn't working in his father's company but was instead applying to be a secretary in his.

From the details he had, Deyna was a university student with excellent grades, just like his brother. The records also showed that Deyna was single, with no family to depend on, and lived in an apartment with her best friend.

Deyna, who saw a post on the website of the biggest company in the country, X, announcing a recruitment for a secretary, was so excited she didn't waste a single moment. She immediately opened her laptop and filled out the application form.

As a student at T University, Deyna was known for being beautiful, kind, and incredibly smart. She lived in a small apartment with her best friend, Lina Voss. Although Lina didn't come from a wealthy background like Deyna, the two had been inseparable since high school. If a third person saw them together without knowing their story, they would likely assume they were sisters.

Deyna was the second daughter of Miss Isabel Ravencroft and Mr. Tony Wolfe. Her elder sister, Rosa Wolfe, was twenty-five years old and worked as a medical doctor and surgeon in one of their father's companies. Rosa had blonde hair, green eyes, plump lips, a curvy figure, and a confident presence.

Deyna also had a younger brother named Nevi Wolfe. He was nineteen and currently enrolled in university. As the middle child, Deyna often felt overlooked. Her parents were always focused on Rosa and Nevi, leaving her stuck in the shadows.

That distance grew deeper when her mother announced she had arranged a marriage for Deyna with a wealthy fiancé. Deyna believed her parents were only thinking about profit and social status. Feeling betrayed and unwanted, she chose to leave.

She ran away from home six years ago and returned to the city on her own terms, determined to live life independently. Now, she shared a modest apartment with her best friend Lina.

Deyna had thick black hair, striking baby electric blue eyes, a cute face with dolly features, small lips, and the perfect curves. She had the kind of presence that turned heads, but all she ever wanted was peace, freedom, and a chance to write her own story.

"I don't even know if I'll be recruited. I'm just a student," Deyna muttered to herself.

"Honey, honey, honey!" a voice called from outside the room.

Of course, it was her best friend, Lina Voss.

Lina came rushing in, her eyes sparkling. "Dey, see what I have for you!" she beamed with excitement.

The way Lina bounced around with so much energy made Deyna even more excited. "What do you have for me, Lina?" she asked with a smile.

"Today, I got my work bonus! So tonight, we're eating and drinking to we drop!"

The girls cheered for themselves and filled their mini dining table with food and wine. They ate and drank to their hearts' content.

"Lina, I have something to tell you," Deyna said in a drunk, giggly voice.

Lina, who was already drowsy, responded lazily.

"The Draven Companies are recruiting for a secretary position and I applied," said Deyna.

Lina's eyes snapped open. She shrieked, "The Draven Companies? No, you mean the richest companies in the country are recruiting for a secretary?"

"Yes, Lina," Deyna replied in a small voice.

"I'm so happy for you, baby girl," Lina said, placing light kisses on Deyna's face.

"But I don't know whether they'll recruit me or not," Deyna said, her voice laced with worry.

"Baby, you're strong on your own. You can do it. And if your boss gives you trouble, don't worry, I'll beat him to death. Fighting!"

"Fighting!" Deyna echoed, raising her fist with a laugh.

Before going to bed, Deyna glanced at her laptop and saw a message pop up on the screen. When she opened it, she blinked three times, then screamed.

Lina woke up with a start. "Dey, what's wrong?" she asked groggily.

"Lina, can you believe this? I've been recruited as secretary!"

Lina screamed and congratulated her before flopping back into bed with a proud grin.

The next morning, Deyna carefully arranged a red, cute dress that sparkled and showed off her curves. She paired it with a stylish overcoat and placed everything neatly before heading to bed, ready for her interview.
