While the couple was having their moment the man was busy feasting on the bread and stew. He even forgot the purpose why he came here.
The food was just too good. Did the people here eat this everyday? Have they hired the empire's royal chef?
Many questions came to the man's mind but he didn't linger on the thought for more than a second. He was busy devouring the food as if it was the last meal of his life.
By the end of the meal he was almost crying tears of joy. Now he could peaceful die without any regrets. Wait die!? Why would he die, he was here on a mission.
The man quickly came out of his euphoria and became alert. How could he a trained spy let his thoughts take the better of him just because of a simple meal.
Well, royal meal. He couldn't be stingy on giving a good review after having such a appetizing food. And the food can only be described as a Royal's delicacy.
These mortals sitting here didn't understand that what they were eating was something that could only be reserved for the royal family.
Whatever, he stopped thinking about the useless stuff and focused on the mission he was sent here for.
He was 'kent' a spy working for a big bandit organization known as 'Red Lilly'. It was a notorious organization that participated in heinous acts such as slavery and forced prostitution.
They also took assassination and spy contracts for the right amount of money. Their head was a middle aged man who was a grandmaster rank individual with 5 other grandmasters who were the table members. He even had some connections in the royal capital.
They were famous in some mid and nobel tier cities for their notorious act's. They usually kidnapped young girl's from small towns, cities and villages for slavery and Prostitution.
This time they have got an anonymous contract to keep an eye on the couple who owned the 'Whispering Hearth' inn. They were not specified for what reasons they have to spy on them, all they knew was that they have to report their each and every action to the anonymous contractor.
Kent lingered around the table before leaving the inn to collect some more information on the couple from townsfolk.
All this while the said couple was 'occupied' in the kitchen doing some activities that wasn't meant for kid's to see.
Sigh.. those perverts didn't have any shame.
Time passed and soon the twin moon's were out illuminating the night.
---
Kent returned to the inn at night after knowing more about the couple from the towns people. Though he didn't get any information worth his attention he still found a peculiar news about the couple.
They were not from this town and had arrived here almost 80 years ago out of no where buying this building and opening a inn here. No one knew from where they came and what they did before coming here.
He found this fact very suspicious.
Kent took out the key he was given by daren in the morning and looked at the room number he was given.
"Room number 7, let's see where it is."
He climbed the stairs and searched for his room. Upon reaching his room he removed his tattered robe and hung it on the hanger.
He slipped out an artifact from his spatial ring and poured some of his mana in it. It was a communication artifact given to him by the headquarters to give his report.
The artifact flared to life, runes igniting with pulsing energy and radiating a soft glow.
Then came a voice, cold and rasp as if it wasn't the voice of one person alone but multiple people speaking at the same time.
"Kent reporting, sir!"
"Did you find anything useful."
The person on the other end wasn't going to hear no for an answer that much was clear from his tone. He wasn't questioning, he was demanding.
Cold beads of sweat started form on Kent's head, his spine tingled with unseen danger. He knew that his next answer could ver well decide his fate.
"Y-yes sir! I-i did find something strange."
"Hmm." The person on the other hand hummed indicating to continue.
"W-while I was asking around to people about this couple I didn't find anything unusual at first but when I asked some old retired adventurers about them they said that they weren't originally from here."
"They both one day something around 80 years ago arrived here out of no where and bought this building to set their inn which is quite surprising thinking that if they had so much money to buy such a huge building for their inn they could have easily lived in a mid tier city than this backward town."
"And the most peculiar thing about them is that they couple haven't aged even a little bit. They look just as young as they were when they arrived here. But I remember very clearly that when I checked I didn't sense any mana emanating from the couple which means that they are just mortals with the life expectancy of 100 years."
Indeed it was truth that for person to live longer than an average mortal they need to poses mana and cultivate to increase their strength and lifespan.
Or else they might not live more than a 100 years, which is why almost every person in this world walks the path of cultivation. No one wanted to die early.
"Hmm." Listening to the report the man on the other end fell in deep thoughts, he couldn't make any mistakes here.
His life is at stake here. He is Morgan, the head of the organization "Red Lilly". He was enjoying his life peaceful drowning in pleasure and wealth, but it all changed that day when that mysterious man arrived with a contract for them.
He didn't specify why he wanted to them to spy on this couple and report their movements to him but the rewards were just too good and he got greedy and accepted the contract.
The man gave him a warning that if he failed this mission he would forfeit his life. Upon hearing this threat morgan erupted with fury. He, a grandmaster, the head of the giant organization red Lilly, whom even the nobels fear was being threatened by this nobody.
He couldn't accept it, he had to teach a lesson to this insolent fool for making such a mistake.
He released his grandmaster aura to crush that man and bring him to knees and have him beg for his life.
A grandmasters aura was no joke, a person with a rank of grandmaster could easily beacome a count in the kingdom. They were a huge asset to any kingdom.
But what Morgan was thinking didn't happen, the man was still standing on his legs not struggling even a bit under his pressure.
Fear gripped Morgan's heart and he tried to exert more force but the man didn't budge even a little.
And then his horror begun.
