Another Were-Wonder
The night sky was filled with howling when I forced Tybalt straight from me; my pulse was racing. We exchanged a tight glance, both knowing the sound could only mean one thing: our packs were meeting.
"Run," Tybalt growled, grabbing my hand and dragging me into the trees.
We ran through the forest as howling grew, louder with every passing second. I felt the adrenaline racing through my veins, all senses alert. Tybalt's grip on mine was vice-like, and I realized this one would never let me go.
Suddenly, out of the gloom, a batch of werewolves stood there, looking oddly at the evening light. Tybalt placed his body before me in the style of a guard.
"Back off," I said to him, low and growly.
The werewolves, my own pack members, growled and bared their teeth. Some of those were familiar with each other-long-time loyal members of the family. But some loyalty seemed to derive from another vein-now it was to Victoria.
Tybalt's palm tightened around my hand as he made ready for defense. I knew I had to act fast. I couldn't let my pack members attack Tybalt. Not when.
A tremor of growling interrupted everything, and then a gigantic werewolf charged towards Tybalt. He dropped my hand and transformed into his wolf self in midair to collide with the attacker. Two wolves crashed through the underbrush.
I converted into my own wolf form to prepare for the action. However, I found that there was no means of escape, as members of my pack were closing in on us from all sides. We were outnumbered and surrounded, and I knew we had to make a retreat-fast.
Tybalt and the other wolf were still fighting, jaws clashing and teeth bared. I joined the fight, biting down on one of the pack and making him yelp as he went down to the ground.
The fight continued, snarls, growls thundering through the air. Tired already from the fighting, I knew we could not keep this up much longer. There had to be a plan, and soon.
Then came a loud cry from Tybalt and the Moonlight Pack burst through the treeline into the fray. The tide of battle turned around, and my pack members started faltering one after the other.
When the fight was halted, Tybalt shifted away, his chest hit heavily with the load of his work. He looked at me, and I could see a lot of concern in his eyes.
"Are you faring well?" he asked in a rough voice.
I nodded, breath still catching up. "Yeah, I'm fine."
The look of Tybalt's eyes lingered on me for a moment before he shifted from the scene to possibly scan the world's destruction. I did the same, eyes roaming over the scattered bodies of my pack members.
"We need to get out of here," said Tybalt, his voice as commanding as steel. "Victoria will not be pleased about this."
I nodded to the truth of his words. There was no way back to the Moonlight Pack den to start planning how to avoid the ire of Victoria.
We walked through a forest, Tybalt's hand brushing against mine, sparking up electricity through me. I looked up to him. So, our eyes met again, and the chain between us was clearly spelt.
Tybalt guided me to a spacious living room featuring a cozy, crackling fireplace. He gestured towards a couch, and I settled into its soft comfort before sleep overtook me.
Tybalt took a seat beside me and stared closely at me. "You're secure now," he spoke in a calming tone, resonant and captivating.
I grasped his hand, and he guided me into a beautiful room. The bedroom featured gentle, calming hues, and the bed offered a comforting appearance.
