Chapter 8 - Chapter 8 Ingenious Counterattack (1)

"Sister Lilian." Mia Ginger smiled and called out, and Lilian Jackson instinctively glanced at her foot, then spoke to Old Master Jackson, "You can't wear shoes like these after twisting your foot. Why not have Marianne fetch a pair of flats for her?"

"Just bring the car up, it's no trouble." Aiden Jiang immediately rejected the idea politely.

Lilian Jackson, though, belatedly scratched her head, "Oh, Marianne mentioned she was going out today, but you can wear mine. I'm a size 36 or 37, they should fit."

She glanced at Mia Ginger, then smiled at everyone, "Flats are always more comfortable, you can't avoid walking when you get home."

"Then let's go with what this girl suggests," Old Master Jackson laughed, "She's always had a kind heart since childhood, her care for others is practically second nature."

With Old Master Jackson having spoken, naturally no one objected.

Mia Ginger was supported by Lilian Jackson to change shoes.

Lilian Jackson's residence was on the second floor of a building adjacent to the main house. As they passed through the side door of the hall, Mia Ginger's gaze fell on Lilian Jackson's wrist.

Was the watch there a matching pair with the one Koa Jackson had?

Mia Ginger didn't know much about watches but was always perceptive, and she had a hunch with just one glance.

She thought about Lilian Jackson beside her with an unruffled demeanor.

No one from the Ginger Family or the Jackson Family had mentioned her; this was her first encounter with this person.

About twenty-five years old, taller than 1.65 meters, graceful and slender, wearing a light blue dress. Her long straight hair was tied into a ponytail, giving her a few more shreds of sophistication and assurance to her delicate appearance.

Like Koa Jackson, she also had a pair of notably beautiful hands.

No nail polish, with slender fingers, the nails short and clean, giving a very comfortable feeling.

Old Master Jackson seemed to like her a lot?

She implied she couldn't move around freely due to her injured foot, yet insisted on supporting her all the way to the room to change shoes, which was entirely unnecessary.

Mia Ginger thought to herself quietly but did not voice these thoughts.

Supporting her, Lilian Jackson didn't expect that despite her young age, Mia was so calm and composed, nor did she show any curiosity about her identity. Unable to help herself, Lilian Jackson was the first to speak, "Are you getting used to it?"

"What?" Mia Ginger turned her head to glance at her.

"Getting used to being home?" Lilian Jackson smiled awkwardly, "It's quite a story, like a novel, returning home after being lost for over ten years."

"It is quite like a novel." Mia Ginger said flatly, clearly unwilling to discuss it further.

Lilian Jackson didn't support her upstairs, but directly took the shoes down and said with a smile, "If you hadn't come back, your sister would likely be getting engaged to Koa Jackson about now."

Mia Ginger glanced at her while holding the pair of cream-colored ballet flats.

"I've only worn these shoes once; you can make do with them to go home. You don't need to return them. I'll box up your shoes." Lilian Jackson said as she bent over to help pack her shoes.

Mia Ginger slipped one shoe onto her foot.

Lilian Jackson looked at her foot, chafed by wedge heels, and remarked meaningfully, "Comfort should be a priority when wearing shoes, regardless of their price. Ill-fitting shoes only bring suffering to yourself. Those accustomed to flats often struggle with high heels, suggesting that luxury and elegance don't necessarily suit everyone."

It seemed she was comparing Koa Jackson to luxurious yet unsuitable high heels.

Mia Ginger looked up at her and smiled faintly, "But no one is born wearing high heels; there's always a phase of getting used to it. Wear them for a few days, and you get comfortable."

Lilian Jackson helped her stand up, "Some can never manage, like Cinderella's stepsisters who couldn't fit into the glass slipper, no matter how hard they tried."
