Chapter 8 - ZELDA

Natalie and I walked into the house through the half-eaten rotten wooden door. We looked around the dusty living room, it was empty, only a wooden chair and a table was present. Not a single picture was hung on the wall.

"Whose house is this?" Natalie asked.

"There's only one door." I pointed towards the left.

We walked towards the door. I opened it and we walked in. It was medium-sized bedroom. There was only one bed and a small dresser with a small brown stool. Above the dresser was an oval shaped mirror. I cocked my head to the side and I noticed a blue swirl in the mirror. Natalie came to stand beside me.

"Looks like something is forming there." She said.

"Yeah."

The swirl became bigger and an image was forming in the mirror. It became clearer and we saw the head of a fair-skinned lady smiling at us. She had fiery red hair and dark eyes. The hair was the same colour I had seen on the skeleton. Was this a coincidence or...

"Hello Emma and Natalie." She said smiling. "I'm glad you could make it."

I was confused. Who was she and how did she know our names?

"I am Zelda." She said.

"Zelda?"

"Zelda Wileosin." Natalie spoke. "You're the 48th guardian."

I looked at Natalie and she looked back at me.

"What?" She asked. "It's in the book."

"Oh."

"You're right. I'm the 48th guardian."

"The last one from the spirit realm." I said. Obviously because after her was Adam.

"Yes. You must have seen the grave, that's what keeps me able to talk to people even after death."

"A spell?" I asked.

"Yes." She replied. "I contacted you through your dreams for a reason."

"What's that?"

"I was in contact with Adam too before he died. I could have finished the work or Adam could have but it wasn't our destiny to. It is yours."

"What's mine?" I asked.

"Yeah." Natalie said.

Zelda smiled again. "Each of you have different link up destinies, make sure you continue to stay together. It's your destiny to stop Lord Xavier. Emma only you destroy him."

"How do you know that?" I asked.

"What do you mean by different link up destinies?" Natalie asked.

"You'll find out when the time is right." Zelda replied. "And Emma, my mother was a seer, she had a vision or rather a prophecy that a human guardian with a good heart is the only one that can destroy Lord Xavier and stop this forever. I had left myself to this point so that I could help, I had thought it was Adam, I was wrong. It's you and I can see that."

"If it's me then tell me where the Emerald key is, let's get it over with." I said.

"It's not that easy, you just started, you still have to grow and learn how to prove yourself. You'll have to make use of your resources and find out where the Emerald key is. There will be dangers on the way and you'll have to overcome, and uncover all secrets. You and Natalie are more than you think you are."

"Why are you talking about me?" Natalie asked. "Emma's the guardian here."

"I know. Like I said, uncover secrets on your own."

"But ..." Natalie wanted to speak but was interrupted.

"There's a portal for you to get home quickly."

We both turned our backs and saw the portal in front of the door.

"What if I want to contact you again?" I asked immediately.

"You can always contact me with a mirror." She replied. "Good bye girls."

"But Zelda ..." Natalie wanted to talk but Zelda's face was gone. We could see our faces now.

"What did she mean by all this she said?" Natalie asked.

"I don't know. I guess we'll have to find out ourselves."

She nodded. "Let's go then."

We walked in through the portal and in the next five seconds walked out into the shed.

"We need to go see Ixora." Natalie said.

"Right now?"

"Yes now."

She insisted. "We have to tell her everything."

I nodded and held her hand closing my eyes ready to teleport.

Narrator's Pov

"She's a 17-year old my lord." Maron- one of the two men said.

Lord Xavier raised an eyebrow. "A 17-year old?"

"Yes my lord."

"Interesting discovery. But is she the one?"

Maron exchanged glances with Levi - his partner.

"We're not sure." Levi said.

"But if it wasn't Adam, it might be her." Maron spoke.

"Alright. Continue to report to me anything they do and their findings."

"Yes sir." They both said in unison, bowed and disappeared.

Emma Pov

"I still don't understand what she meant by different link up destinies." Natalie said to Ixora. We were in the Sage's temple but not in the Library, Ixora had taken us to the Garden where we sat around a table to discuss.

"Yeah. She spoke in riddles." I agreed.

"Then it means we must not dilly dally anymore. Starting from tomorrow, since we have two hours here, we use one hour to learn sword fighting and the other for spell casting,"

"Sword fighting?"

"Yes. Both of you. It's for self defence."

"Cool." Natalie said. "I wanna learn how to use a sword."

"Glad you're excited." Ixora said

"Is it that necessary?" I asked.

"Yes, is it."

I nodded. Sword fighting wasn't that hard to learn right. I've watched a few sword fights on television, it didn't look hard right. I looked at Ixora and saw that she was looking at me. Was she reading my mind, but I locked it.

"Is there anything else?" Ixora asked. "I have a place to be right now."

"No, we were about to leave too."

We all stood up. I held Natalie hand.

"Try to study your LIBER CUSTODES and maybe also teleporting with your eyes open. You'll need maximum concentration on that."

"Alright." I said. Leaving my eyes open, I imagined the shed again.

"Goodbye Ixora."

"See you tomorrow." Natalie said.

She nodded with a faint smile. And when I teleported, we were right in the shed.

"I did it."

"Good job."

"Let's go back to my room."

The Next Day- Emma Pov

"Radioactivity is a spontaneous decay or disintegration of the nucleus of an atom with emission of radiation with a large quantity of heat." Our chem teacher drawled out. She was our first period teacher and didn't put us in a good place. There was a slight tap on the door and we turned around that direction. CC was standing there.

"May I come in Mrs. Smith?" Her real name was Caden Carter.

"Why are you late today?" Our teacher asked. Good question cause Caden never came late to school.

"Late night. Sorry ma'am." Caden said and walked in.

She stared at me as she walked past to her seat. Why was she looking at me? We never really related or spoke to each other. It was always her and her girls at the back row. They were the ones who began to call her CC.

"Let's continue class." Mrs. Smith said drawing back my attention.

During lunch, Natalie and I sat at a table to eat. I noticed Caden who sat two tables away from us staring at me.

"Nat look." I signaled to Caden. "CC's staring at me. I wonder why."

Natalie turned her head but Caden looked away quickly.

"I wonder why too." She said. "Try reading her mind to know what's she's thinking."

"Ooh good idea." I said. I fixed my gaze on her trying to read her mind but it didn't work. I tried harder but it was a dead end. I couldn't. How? Was it empty? Was that even possible?

"What's she thinking?" Nat asked.

"I don't know. I can't seem to read hers."

"What do you mean?"

"It's a dead end. Like her mind is empty or something."

"Is that even possible?"

"I don't know."

"Try reading another person's mind." Natalie suggested.

I looked around and spotted Bianca with three other girls from our class eating and laughing. I decided to listen to Bianca's thoughts.

'Gosh, this french fries are delicious.' She was eating a hamburger, with french fries and a drink. 'I think I'll have this much more often now.'

I tried Layla, the girl sitting next to her. 'I still have to meet Mrs. Smith after this'

"Did it work?" Natalie asked tapping me making me lose concentration.

"Yes, it did"

"Then why can't I read Caden's?"

"Maybe she just isn't thinking of anything."

"Again, is that even possible? To not think of anything ever?"

"I don't know."

"It's alright. Let's just drop the case. We can always ask Ixora later." She said and we continued our lunch.

Sage's Temple

Natalie and I appeared in the Library but we didn't find Ixora in the small room, since that was where we always were.

We opened the door and went to the main Library, filled with gigantic book shelves. I saw ladder coming towards us. It stopped right in front of me.

"Ladder, do you know where Ixora is?" I asked.

It shook a little, meaning no.

"Alright." I said and it moved away.

"What else?" Natalie asked.

"I dunno, we wait."

"Wait it is then."

We turned left and saw Ixora coming from the left aisle, the same place ladder rolled to. Guess he must have told her. It seemed like two people were behind her.

"Are you with anyone?" I asked.

"Yes. As a matter of fact, you should know one." She said as soon as she was within 5-feet.

The two people came into view and to our shock, it was Caden and another boy.

"Caden?" Nat and I said in unison.

"Hey." She said

"Hi." The boy said, He had dark hair and dark eyes. He was a bit taller than CC.

"How is this possible?" I asked.

"Caden is my cousin." Ixora explained. "Her family or clan are Dragon keepers. They nurture, protect and take care of them."

"That's why you couldn't read her mind earlier." Natalie said and I held my hand over her mouth.

"I knew you'd try that." CC said. "This is my brother, Shade."

"Hey."

"Hi."

"Nice to meet you." He replied.

"I went to visit them yesterday and knowing Caden attended your school, I told her everything." Ixora said.

"And I volunteered to help in Sword training." CC added.

"But I didn't agree to that yet." Ixora countered.

"Hold on, Hold on." I said.

"Caden you live in the human world." Natalie took the words right of my mouth.

"Yeah. We're the good creatures." Shade said. "It's not a bad thing for us live here."

"But we always come back here every weekends." CC added.

"Oh."

"Caden will assist me in teaching you both sword fighting and maybe spell casting. Can't do it all on my own." Ixora said.

"Yesss..." Caden squealed.

"But no sparring until I say so." She added sternly. "You're only assisting. Shade will do the teaching"

"Oh..." Natalie said.

"Only one hour, and then Emma you meet me in the small room so that I can begin teaching you a few spells." I nodded.

"To the training ground then." Ixora said and walked away.
