Joffrey's encounter with Alex's memories had left him shaken. He didn't understand what was happening or how to control his new abilities. As they finished lunch, Joffrey couldn't shake off the feeling that something fundamental had changed.
After school, Alex suggested they study at the park. As they sat down on a bench, Alex suddenly clutched his head, grimacing in pain.
"Dude, what's wrong?" Joffrey asked, concern etched on his face.
Alex's eyes widened, and he raised his hands. Seismic waves began to emanate from his palms, causing the ground to shake. The bench trembled, and nearby objects started to fall.
"Whoa!" Joffrey exclaimed. "Alex, what's happening?"
Alex's eyes gleamed with a newfound intensity. "I don't know, but I feel... powerful."
As they watched, Alex's seismic waves grew stronger, creating small earthquakes. The ground cracked, and rocks shattered. Joffrey realized Alex's powers were unlike anything he'd ever seen.
"Alex, can you control it?" Joffrey asked, taking a step back.
Alex focused, and the seismic waves subsided. "I think so. But what about you? What's going on with you?"
Joffrey hesitated, unsure how much to reveal. "I... I think we're both changing, Alex. We're becoming something more."
Alex's eyes sparkled with excitement. "Inhumans?"
Joffrey nodded. "I think so."
As they sat there, the earth still trembling beneath them, Joffrey realized their lives would never be the same.
