Chapter 2 - Caterpie's Draconic Metamorphosis —Rayquaza

[Species: Caterpie (Rayquaza - Juvenile Form)]

[Type: Bug (Dragon/Flying)]

[Ability:Shed Skin (Air Lock)]

[Moves: Tackle, String Shot, Bug Bite, Electroweb, Dragon Ascent]

[Evaluation: Despite its fragile physiology and limited species potential, this Caterpie exhibits prodigious aptitude. Even Rayquaza's signature move, Dragon Ascent, has been mastered through rigorous training – a testament to its latent transcendence.]

Somehow, Alex's Caterpie learned Dragon Ascent—Rayquaza's ultimate move. Its stats kept mutating away from normal Caterpie biology, inching closer to the Sky High Pokémon's  DNA like a level 100 Magikarp cosplaying as Kyogre.

Blame the system — it's running the show.

  Alex's luck is insanely good

According to the system's analysis, this starter Pokémon is a rare prodigy that absorbed the evolutionary potentia of its entire Caterpie species. Through training, it can break its species' limits and become a formidable Pokémon.

As an isekai protagonist with a busted main character system, Alex is the textbook chosen one. His path is set — that sweet, sweet plot armor will turn even a Caterpie into a world-shaker.

"This glitchy system nuked my future! If it doesn't spawn a Miraidon bike ASAP, consider me Team Rocket fodder!"

With an agitated slam of the table, Alex eart brimming with grievance—fixed the system with a glare of bitter resentment, launching into a scathing rebuke of its relentless interference.

Alex glared at the system's mission interface—the task pinned to the top of the screen seared his vision like a flashbang.

[System Mission: Command Rayquaza (evolved from Caterpie) to defeat the resurrected Groudon and Kyogre.]

[Mission Reward: Officially unlocks the evolutionary path from Caterpie to Rayquaza.]

[System Assistance: During the mission period, Caterpie temporarily gains the ability to evolve into Rayquaza and officially unlocks access to the move "Dragon Ascent." The higher the skill's proficiency level, the greater Caterpie's mastery over Rayquaza's combat capabilities.]

This mission was received by Alex after graduating high school while traveling in Lilycove City, Hoenn Region, upon encountering the clash between the two legendary titans (Groudon and Kyogre).

The crux of the matter is this: Even though Groudon and Kyogre—awakened from their slumber by Team Magma and Team Aqua wielding the Red and Blue Orbs—now ravage the world in their primal clash, the duty of post-crisis restoration certainly doesn't fall to an ordinary traveler like him.

Whether it be the Champion, Elite Four, and Gym Leaders of the Hoenn Region, or the actual Rayquaza... they are undeniably more qualified than Alex to resolve the threat posed by Groudon and Kyogre."

The system, triggered by ALEX's offhand 'Whatever, I'll handle this,'jumped the gun and mistook his bluff for serious intent. Cue the Assist Mode — no consent required.

At that moment... the bewildered Caterpie, still mid-bite on its Poké Block, underwent an involuntary metamorphosis into Rayquaza's towering form under Alex's despairing gaze.

Dazed and confused, the duo blundered into the crossfire of Primal Groudon and Kyogre — accidentally third-wheeling the apocalyptic showdown .

Perched on Rayquaza's draconic head, Alex took one look at Groudon and Kyogre locked in their primal rage and immediately made a break for it — maybe he could even ditch this death sentence of a mission in the chaos.

But then the system blared a warning — Groudon and Kyogre had locked onto Rayquaza and its rider, Alex. If he bailed now, those two walking disasters might just chase him straight to Unova .

Oh Arceus, the system just yeeted us into a shiny new mess !

Thankfully, Team Magma and Aqua swapped the Red and Blue Orbs by mistake at Mt. Pyre—so Groudon and Kyogre never triggered their Primal Reversion .

Alex and his Caterpie gritted their teeth and charged into Primal Groudon and Kyogre's battleground. Thanks to Rayquaza's Delta Stream ability, they overawed the rampaging duo — forcing a stalemate among the three super-ancient Pokémon. After an awkward standoff, Groudon and Kyogre seemed to realize neither could overpower the other. With a final roar, they retreated — Groudon into volcanic depths and Kyogre into abyssal trenches — vanishing without a trace.

But Alex knew the truth: he and Caterpie were now marked enemies of Primal Groudon and Kyogre. If those two ever snapped out of their primal fury, Hoenn would face a second cataclysmic showdown — Rayquaza dragged back into the chaos all over again.

When that day comes, the only play is to face off against these godzilla-sized Legendaries — either strip Rayquaza's scales raw or get melted by Groudon's magma and drowned in Kyogre's tidal rage.

"What possessed you to task an incoming freshman majoring in Pokémon Husbandry with directly confronting two Legendary-class entities like Groudon and Kyogre?!"

Back home safe, Alex glared at the glitchy system and unloaded every frustration from that day's chaos—only to get radio silence in return.

Once the dust settled on their primal showdown, Alex hightailed it back to Unova with Caterpie in tow. Under the system's rigid commands, he holed up indoors, drilling the anomalously learned 'Dragon Ascent' into his bug-turned-dragon menace.

That's terrifying.

"Alex could never have fathomed that a single flippant remark of his would trigger such cataclysmic repercussions."

Contemplating his supposedly 'radiant future,' Alex furrowed his brow, his handsome features clouded with the vexation of one who has unwillingly become entangled in Legendary-class calamities."

  What should I do?

Realistically speaking, expecting his somewhat dimwitted Caterpie to fully master Rayquaza's power before Groudon and Kyogre's resurgence — let alone counterattack these Primal Lords of Land and Sea — remained utterly delusional, regardless of the system's insistence.

His 'Nope' meter hit max faster than a Speed Boost Blaziken.

If he bailed now, those Primal land-sea kaiju would slap a walking bullseye on his back — hounded till the end of time like Team Rocket's wanted posters on steroids.

"Well, there's always a workaround or two"

As a temporal displacement survivor, Alex instinctively leveraged his foreknowledge of Hoenn's canonical events to initiate countermeasures against the imminent Primal Crisis.

The most viable solution aligned with established lore: leveraging the resurgence of Groudon and Kyogre to ascend the Draconid-constructed Sky Pillar, summoning the true Rayquaza to canonically quell their primal conflict.

This world indeed houses the so-called 'canon characters'—Red, Green, and Steven Stone of the Hoenn region—whose features pale in comparison to his own striking looks. Alex had glimpsed their visages countless times through news outlets and entertainment media.

"Leveraging my status as Rayquaza's designated Trainer, perhaps I could rally them to confront Groudon and Kyogre..."

When Alex caught that news clip of Wallace(yeah, the ex-Hoenn Champ) swearing on live TV to quell the Primal Reversion mess or ditch his title and go full Coordinator, she knew teaming up with these League legends wasn't just smart — it was Magikarp-to-Gyarados levels of essential .

Rayquaza's alliance is crucial, as are the bonds with elite Trainers — only by securing both can Eishia and Caterpie carve a path to survival amidst this Legendary-class calamity. "

Scratching his jet-black hair — now frayed from weeks of existential dread under the looming threat of Primal Groudon and Kyogre — Alex's stomach growled with primal urgency. He mechanically opened his Rotom Phone's food delivery app and ordered a Tauros steak rice bowl.

"Wow, it's so expensive."

Glancing at his increasingly depleted Pokédollar wallet, Alex now grappled with a pressure far surpassing even the apocalyptic stakes of the Primal Clash between Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza.

Setting down his Rotom Phone,Alex issued strict instructions to Caterpie: 'Only continue Dragon Ascent drills under approved physical safety parameters.' With the directive logged in his Pokédex's training module, he booted up his PC terminal to access the Hoenn League's Legendary encounter archives.

"Better prepare and start today's live broadcast."

In the harmonious world where humans and Pokémon coexist, Alex has carved out a reputation as a rising PokéTuber within the Hoenn region's digital sphere.

Undoubtedly, the most lucrative and trending ventures in this world orbit around Pokémon-centric products and events. Pokémon battles reign supreme as the quintessential all-ages spectacle, their cultural penetration eclipsing even the most viral Holo Caster trends across regions.

Though Alex's prior-world experience — where he'd barely scraped into the Master Ball tier during Galar's Ranked Battles a handful of times — hardly qualified him to pose as a battle tactician through tutorial content, livestreaming competitive matches proved sufficient to cultivate a modest following and secure sustenance funds through the Luminescent Social interface's monetization algorithms.

Combined with his pun-laden commentary style (honed through Kalosian meme culture) and amiable persona, Alex's Lumiose Idol-tier charisma as a streamer culminated in amassing sufficient Pokédollar reserves via Paldea's Partner Program to sustain his and Caterpie's livelihood.

Of course, these earnings still paled against the fiscal demands of ascension to Champion-ranked Trainer status and the damned System remained obstinately non-monetized, refusing to dispense even a single Pokédollar from its arcane interface.

Alex muttered silent curses at his glitch-ridden System Interface while, with practiced ease, booted up his Holo Caster livestream channel. Following the chat barrage's insistent prompts flashing across the Battle Interface Overlay, he initiated another Galar League-approved broadcast cycle.

"Today's stream features Butterfree's Focus Sash + Sleep Powder high-efficiency tactics – a tribute to my Caterpie, who's totally on the verge of evolving into Rayquaza any day now!"
