Chapter 1 - revival in prehistoric times

There was a thunderous voice that sounded in the sky on a quiet night. Arka, a young boy, found himself waking up and lying on a hard, cold surface. He woke up to notice that he was outside his bedroom. There were unfamiliar sounds everywhere, and towering trees loomed over him. Arka rubbed his eyes to come to terms with this strange occurrence.

"Where am I?" he muttered, disoriented. He got up and glanced around. He noticed a giant shadow in the distance. He was horrified to find a ferocious Tyrannosaurus Rex roaring when he got near, and the earth shook beneath his feet. Besides absolute terror, Arka was curious too.

Arka frantically tried to recall how he came to be there. He had recalled that he had become inebriated the night before while going through a book about dinosaurs. Perhaps everything was a dream, he thought. But as he felt the biting snapping wind and looked at the snarl of the massive beast, he knew that he wasn't dreaming.

Arka breathed deeply in an effort to calm himself down. If he was to live, he had to remain aware. He edged away from the T-Rex quietly and slowly, careful not to make a sound that might alert the beast to his presence. As though it knew he was there, he could feel the ground tremble at his feet.

Arka walked and observed his environment. Environment was lined with gigantic trees with gigantic leaves and brightly colored flowers. Prehistoric birds floated high above the skies, and strange noises by other creatures filled the air. Arka had a feeling that he had stepped into another world, a world full of magic and danger.

Arka walked some distance, and Urka came across a small river whose water ran very gently. He was thirsty and he was looking forward to drinking some water. When he bent down to drink some water, he could hear the distinct rumble of something approaching him. Arka got up hastily and looked at the cause of the sound. Apparently, a herd of herbivorous dinosaurs were heading towards the river to drink some water. They looked peaceful with their giant bodies and long necks shuffling at a crawl.

Urka was in awe of the sights. He had never imagined he would be seeing dinosaurs up close. He also knew that he needed to be cautious. He would not be safe if there were animals such as the T-Rex around.

After a while of observing, Urka realized that the time had arrived to leave the river and seek refuge elsewhere. He continued on his journey, being cautious not to make any noise that would annoy the scary monster. As he moved along on his stroll, he spotted scary footprints on the ground. Arka drew in his belly as he gazed at the new footprints. He was aware that he had to be cautious.

Arka was walking through a valley flanked by rock formations when he went on. He was halfway through the valley when he spotted a dark cave. He entered the cave right away. Maybe there was some hiding place.

As Arka stepped inside the cave, he noticed the temperature drop and the humidity increase. He switched on the small torch he was carrying, which was reflected by the moist walls of the cave. Arka could see fossils and footprints of ancient animals inside the cave. Urka was amazed, even though he knew he could not stay there long. He had to find some way back home.

Arka walked back and forth in the cave for some minutes when he heard a roar outside. He ran for cover behind a big rock and tried to be as quiet as possible. He peered through an opportunity opening formed by a narrow slit and was confronted by a T-rex out searching for food. The beast had ugly-sharp grotesque teeth and was huge and threatening. Urka was scared, but for some reason, he was excited. He knew he had to make his getaway.

Urka was equally frightened, yet at the same time, he felt touched as well. He realized that he had to find a way to survive here. He eyed the T. rex warily as it let out a deafening screech, the creature tossing its head from side to side as if it was looking for something. Arka attempted to slow down his racing heart.

The T. Rex immediately turned and left the cave. Arka breathed a sigh of relief, but he also realized he couldn't simply remain here forever. He needed to venture out and try to establish himself in this strange new world. He cautiously emerged from the cave, glancing around to make sure there weren't any other animals nearby.

Arka stepped outside and felt warm sunlight on his skin. He looked around to see if he could notice any clue as to where he was. He heard birds singing and other animals in a thick forest that from a distance seemed promising. Urka chose to venture into the forest to search for food and shelter.

Arka started recollecting what he had studied of life in prehistoric ages as he walked. He recollected that prehistoric man had to hunt and gather to live. That is exactly what he was doing. He started looking around him for signs of life with new zeal.

Arka soon discovered a tree loaded with wild fruits. He climbed up the tree and plucked some of the fruits, which were tasty. He plucked one of the bananas and tasted it cautiously. It was fresh and sweet and gave energy. He plucked some more flowers to be consumed along the journey.

Arka went further on his walk, glancing around him. He listened to strange noises in the distance along with scuff marks belonging to other creatures. He knew danger could approach at any moment, and so he had to remain attentive. However, his inquisitive mind also pushed him to conduct further researches.

Arka came to a clearing surrounded by forests after walking for two hours. In the center of the clearing was a herd of plant-eating dinosaurs, feeding. Arka was surprised to see how calm they were. Arka decided to watch them from behind shrubs.

Arca watched the various dinosaurs from behind his hiding place. Some, such as the Stegosaurus, had short necks, but others, such as the Brachiosaurus, had long necks. It was as if he had entered a world of myths. But he also knew that he had to be careful so that he would not be noticed by them.

Arka started thinking about how he could survive from what he had learned by observing. He recalled that early men used to hunt animals in order to survive. Perhaps he could observe these dinosaurs and notice how he could get food without directly engaging predators.

Soon, Arca saw that one of the little dinosaurs strayed from the group. The dinosaur snuffled around as if it was lost. Urka decided to assist it since he pitied it. He crawled towards the dinosaur stealthily.

Arka realized that the dinosaur was hurt when he got closer to it. Its leg was trapped between rocks. It led Urka to try and save the animal. He moved carefully and started throwing small rocks onto the trail. Arka kept speaking in a gentle tone in an effort to soothe the traumatized dinosaur.

"Don't worry, I'll never hurt you," he gasped between his gentle voice. "I'd like to know if I can assist."

Arka managed to pull out the dinosaur's leg after some time. The animal stood up, seeming unsure. But after some time, it began to walk backward, throwing a thanks glance at Arca. It felt pleased that he was able to assist an animal larger than him.

Arka continued his path with even more vigor. He knew that he still had to grow and evolve.
