Chapter 17 - Chapter 17 : Gacha

Grayfia arrived in the human world and teleported directly to the Occult Research Club to meet Rias.

"Grayfia-san," Rias said as she saw Grayfia appear from the magic circle.

"Rias-sama, everyone," Grayfia bowed politely to greet Rias and the others.

"Is something wrong, Grayfia-san? Or… did you come because of that?" Rias asked curiously. Usually, for Grayfia to come to Kuoh personally, it meant something serious. Akeno had already gone to prepare tea, but Grayfia stopped her.

"I'll be leaving soon. I came to deliver a message from Sirzechs-sama," Grayfia said.

"Onii-sama has a message for me?"

"Yes. He wanted to warn you about something. It concerns the Berserk Lion."

"Berserk Lion?" Rias and the others looked confused—it was the first time they had heard that name.

"Yes. Not long ago, someone appeared and began challenging Longinus users, defeating them one after another," Grayfia said, then turned her gaze toward Issei. Suddenly, the red gauntlet appeared on his hand.

"You think he'll come here to challenge my host?" a voice echoed from the gauntlet, startling Issei as well.

"Nice to meet you, Red Dragon Emperor. And yes, that's exactly why I came—to warn you," Grayfia addressed Ddraig, who only snorted dismissively.

"As if I'd be afraid of someone like that."

"I didn't say you would be. However, I must still warn your host and the others. According to the information we've gathered, this person wields a Holy Sword."

Hearing that made everyone's expression turn serious. They were devils, after all, and Holy Swords were definitely a threat to them. Kiba only raised an eyebrow slightly.

"Is he from the Church?" Akeno asked.

"It doesn't seem like it. In fact, he's even fought against members of the Church before."

"So what do you think we should do?" Rias asked.

"At the moment, the current host of the Boosted Gear is still quite weak, so he might not be interested in a fight. But I advise you not to act aggressively if you meet him. If he perceives you as enemies, things could get much more complicated. Please inform me and Sirzechs-sama immediately if anything happens, so we can respond in time."

Grayfia's words created a heavy atmosphere in the room. Issei scratched his head awkwardly, knowing she was right—he really was still weak.

"Also, Sairaorg-sama once encountered him during a trip to Greece. And he was defeated… even though that man didn't use a sword," Grayfia added.

Everyone was shocked. Rias especially. She knew Sairaorg was one of the strongest among their generation—particularly when it came to raw power.

"Since there's nothing more, I'll take my leave." Grayfia bowed and teleported back to the Underworld.

Rias sighed after hearing everything. She hoped she wouldn't be unlucky enough to attract someone like that. After discussing with the others for a while, Rias turned to Koneko.

"Koneko-chan, could you invite Asia here for me?" Koneko nodded and left.

"Ara, are you thinking of inviting her to join us?" Akeno asked.

"Yes, I want to try," Rias replied.

"What if she refuses?"

"Then it can't be helped. But at the very least, I want to try inviting her to the club. After all, she already knows about the supernatural world."

After eating several more snacks, Ophis finally left, though there was a bit of reluctance in her eyes. It was the first time she had met someone as strange as Richard. He was the first not to show fear upon learning who she was—and also the first to refuse her offer. Not only that, he gave her all sorts of sweet and gentle treats. That made Ophis curious and more interested in him. For the first time, she felt emotions like that.

Back to Richard—he let out a sigh after Ophis left. She had eaten all the sweets he gave her. Sitting on the sofa, Richard began to check his system—a very simple one to use. Occasionally, it would give him missions like fighting someone. If he won, he'd earn a Gacha roll. He could also exchange system points for rolls. These points were earned by killing creatures—the stronger the creature, the more points he got. However, to buy a Gacha roll, a lot of points were needed.

Currently, Richard had 5 Gacha rolls, plus one he exchanged from points. He decided that today, he'd use up all the rolls he'd accumulated since coming to this world.

"Yosh! Let's begin. I offer 1000 years of Vali's lifespan for good luck," Richard said, and a system screen appeared in front of him. On it was a lottery-like spinning wheel. As he spun the Gacha, the wheel began to turn slowly, cycling through countless items before stopping.

[Congratulations, you received: Rho Aias – The Seven Rings that Cover the Burning Heavens]

Richard raised an eyebrow—this was a powerful item. He knew this was the shield once used by the great Aias and possessed incredibly strong defense. Its utility was very flexible.

Richard continued with the next roll.

[Congratulations, you received: Hades's Cap of Invisibility]

"Hades's cap, huh? Maybe I'll give this to Asia. It could help her in certain situations."

[Congratulations, you received: Demon Sword Gram]

Richard stared at the screen with a neutral face. He knew it was a powerful sword, but he wasn't too impressed. After all, he could just transform it into Excalibur, like he did with Balmung.

[Congratulations, you received: Servant Summon Ticket]

"There it is!" Richard punched the air with excitement. He was glad to get a Servant summon—he needed more manpower for his upcoming plans. He also knew the system modified Servants to be loyal to him and share some of his memories of this world. However, Richard didn't summon just yet. He finished using the remaining Gacha rolls first.

[Congratulations, you received: Avalon – The Everdistant Utopia]

"Amazing," Richard's eyes widened. This was the sacred scabbard of Excalibur. Even though Avalon would be weaker without Artoria as its wielder, its effects were still overpowered.

[Congratulations, you received: Servant Summon Ticket]

"Perfect. Guess sacrificing 1000 years of Vali's life really paid off," Richard grinned. It truly felt like a lucky day—he had not only gained powerful items, but also two Servant summons.

He immediately started summoning his Servants.

[Congratulations, you have successfully summoned: Jeanne d'Arc (Alter)]

A flash of white light appeared in front of Richard. As it faded, a beautiful girl was revealed—pale skin, golden eyes, and short white-blonde hair styled in an A-line cut. Her outfit was intricately designed, completely black.

"Jeanne d'Arc,I have come in response to your summons. I pray that this body of mine may be of use to you. Please give your command, my Master," she said, kneeling before him in a show of loyalty.

But Richard only shook his head. He saw them as comrades rather than master and servant.

"Nice to meet you, Jeanne. But before we talk, I'll summon the other one."

Richard used his final roll.

[Congratulations, you have successfully summoned: Sir Gawain]

The same white light shone as before. When it faded, a tall young man with wavy blond hair and deep blue eyes appeared. He wore a silver suit of armor adorned with floral patterns on dark blue and black fabric. He knelt before Richard and said:

"Among the Knights of the Round Table who served under King Arthur, I am Gawain. I have come in response to your summons. I pray that this body of mine may be of use to you. At your command, my Master."

Author: At first, I planned for Mordred to take Gawain's place, but I didn't want the male-to-female ratio to be too unbalanced. Mordred will be the third Servant after the Rating Game.
