Chapter 5 - Unparalleled Luck

The Overseer also witnessed the scene and calmly nodded in appreciation. Although on the surface he seemed composed, entirely different calculations were running through his mind.

After Daisy, more participants followed suit, their spirits at an all-time high.

However, no matter how excited they were, the ratio of success barely improved. Only about one in every eight participants received a Mystical Abilities that would serve as beginner boosts, increasing their chances of survival in the unknown Dream World ahead.

They had no idea what kind of world awaited them on the other side, so they had to mentally prepare themselves as best they could.

Moreover, they couldn't bring anything with them for assistance. They would just have to rely solely on themselves.

At long last, it was finally Igor's turn.

"Young Master, please return safely!"

From the crowd, the loyal old butler called out, sincerely wishing for Igor's safe return.

Immediately all eyes were fixed on Igor as he was the last participant. Once he went through, the gifts bestowing would be complete, and they could finally Dive into the Dungeon.

Some among the crowd grew visibly impatient and irritated.

"Damn cripple, why are you so slow?" one boy muttered in annoyance.

"Yeah, this shameless bastard is holding us up."

"Hahaha, why don't you crawl back to your mommy's arms? Oh wait, I forgot that your whore of a mother abandoned you too!" Mark shouted, laughing cruelly.

Igor, who had been nonchalant in the face of all insults until now, suddenly paused.

He looked calm and silent.

But if one looked closely, they would see his body trembling. His eyes were bloodshot.

Those bloodshot eyes slowly turned to the boy who had dared to insult his mother.

Then, through gritted teeth, he growled,

"You're dead!"

Those weren't simple words. It was a declaration of sealing they boy's fate, one he would personally execute.

Mark suddenly felt a chill crawl up his spine. He shouldn't have been scared, after all, it was just a threat from a cripple.

But he was scared.

It was as if a raw killing intent had manifested around him, honed by unyielding will and burning vengeance. And it was aimed solely at him.

Terrified, Mark instinctively moved behind Lucius.

Lucius snickered at Igor, stepping in protectively.

"What's with that look, Igor? He didn't say anything wrong. Now don't waste our time with your tricks. Let's get this over with," he said with a mocking smile.

Just then, the Overseer barked:

"Kid, don't drag this batch down! If you keep testing my patience, you don't know what I'm capable of!" His menacing gaze turned to the old butler in the crowd.

Igor's heart shook.

If anything happened to that loyal old man who had served him for years… he would never be able to forgive himself.

Without hesitation, he rolled his wheelchair forward, stopping before the Eggshell.

Unlike others, he wasn't nervous or anxious.

Even if he didn't receive anything, it wouldn't shake his resolve. He would still use this opportunity to grow stronger.

Stronger than anyone present.

He touched the shell without any anticipation. He did it more out of a formality.

He didn't expect much because his luck had never been good.

But the moment his fingers made contact, something unexpected happened.

The Eggshell began to tremble violently.

"Buzz, Buzz, Buzz!"

The eggs inside the shell began to spin chaotically, as if each one was desperately eager to choose Igor as their owner.

They emitted a radiant glow that nearly blinded everyone present with multicoloured light.

The crowd was stunned into silence.

"What's going on…?"

"Don't tell me… he… he's—"

"Buzz!"

Their words were cut short as a wave of invisible energy exploded from the shell, sending everyone stumbling backward from the sheer pressure.

It was as if a chaotic competition had broken out among the eggs themselves.

Even Adrian, Lucius, Aluna, and Daisy, who barely flinched under the force, were visibly shaken. Their wide eyes betrayed their disbelief.

Adrian clenched his fists, barely able to contain his anxiety. This can't be happening. It shouldn't happen.

But he didn't move yet. He waited for confirmation. Only then would he act.

"Whoosh!"

Suddenly, a single blue egg shot out of the shell, floating in front of Igor like a victorious champion.

Witnessing this, everyone exhaled in relief.

"It's just a blue egg…?

All that chaos… for a common ability?" someone muttered in bafflement.

But the next moment, everyone's breath caught in their throat.

Because the chaos inside the shell hadn't stopped yet.

The spinning within the shell continued, no, it intensified even more. The light flared again, blinding and wild.

"Wait... look! It's still going!"

"No way... they're still fighting?"

"F**k, this isn't normal. This isn't good at all…"

Amidst their disbelieving chatter, another egg spilled out, but this one glowing a brilliant red.

"L-Legendary?" Lucius stammered, his eyes widening in disbelief.

The calm expressions of the other three shattered instantly.

"Th-this... Igor? how?" Daisy muttered, her stunned gaze fixed on Igor as if she were seeing an alien.

Even Aluna's brow furrowed in confusion.

None of them had expected this.

Their former fiancé, once deemed talentless and discarded, had just received two Ability Eggs.

Considering his past reputation as a useless cripple, this shouldn't have been possible.

Hadn't their parents insisted that Igor had no talent in Dream Diving?

Then what exactly were they witnessing now?

Surely, someone blessed with a Legendary ability couldn't be considered Talentless.

So was there something more to this?

Each of them found themselves questioning what they thought they knew.

"Crippled bastard, you can't... I WON'T LET YOU!"

Their attention suddenly snapped toward Adrian, who suddenly roared in rage and charged at Igor in his wheelchair.

THWUMP!

Igor was immediately thrown out of his wheelchair by a powerful kick to the back.

"Where are they?! Where are they? Give them to me!"

Adrian's wild eyes darted around, searching frantically for the eggs, but they were nowhere in sight.

Then his gaze landed on the ground, where Igor was slowly sitting up… smirking.

The eggs were gone. Igor had already picked them up. They were now safely absorbed into his body.

"Why did you do that? Why?!" Adrian seethed, his voice cracking as if he'd snapped. "Now I have to kill you."

Then he flashed a twisted grin.

Igor felt a chill crawl down his spine. He knew he was weak. And no one would come to save him. He would have to save himself.

Without a word, he began to crawl toward the Dungeon, which had just finished opening.

The barrier shimmered faintly now, allowing participants to finally enter.

The other participants was amused watching them fight. But it wasn't long before they started entering the Dungeon as thay was more important than this show.

Igor only needed to enter inside the Dark Dungeon. Just a few more feet and he'd be safe. Revenge could come later. He would remember everything—and spare no one.

"Heh… look at you, crawling like a worm."

Thwack!

Another brutal kick slammed into his back, a sickening crack echoing as Igor gasped.

"Argh!"

He screamed in pain, his head smashing against the ground as Adrian planted a foot on him, pinning him down.

Adrian climbed on top of him, straddling his back like a conqueror, a cruel smile stretched across his face.

Igor couldn't move. He was weak.

"Should we save him, Sister Aluna?" Daisy asked Aluna, stopping at the entrance, slightly anxious for some reason.

Aluna hesitated, her eyes softened slightly.

Just as they were hesitating, a radiant energy brushed past their eyes.

They looked closely to see another egg, with a radiant platinum colour, heading toward Igor's direction.

That's right. It wasn't black or red. It was a platinum egg, which no one had knowledge of.

"No way!" Daisy muttered, stunned.

"This is impossible!"

"Platinum Egg? This is unheard of!" Lucius muttered, standing ready just beside them. "Where did it come from?"

Even the Overseer, a Knowledge Skadi, also looked stunned by sudden appearance of the Platinum Egg.

His disbelief told that even he didn't no knowledge this. It was anomaly.

Under their wide eyes, the egg flew at rapid speed before entering Igor's body.

"What's this?"

The next moment, Igor felt a sudden surge of energy he couldn't explain.

But taking this chance, he broke free from the restraint, casually standing up and throwing Adrian off balance.

Adrian's face was on the dirt, processing what had just happened.

How did the cripple suddenly gain so much strength?

And what was that flash of bright light?

As he stood up, he saw Igor running toward the entrance of the Dream Dungeon.

Seeing this, Adrian grew frantic. He couldn't let him go. Not now. Otherwise, he could become a threat to their family—and to him.

But alas, as hard as he might try, Igor had already disappeared into the unknown world through the Dream Dungeon.

Clenching his fists, he also chased after him.

Where this chase would lead them, it was unknown.
