Ding! Obtained Jennifer Morgan's Conquest Treasure Chest! Open it?
Roy hadn't expected it. He'd been focusing on Needy for a while, playing a bit of a push-and-pull game with Jennifer. In the end, though, Jennifer was the one he ended up going all the way with first.
Guess all that teasing couldn't compare to just going for it directly.
Jennifer was sound asleep. This girl dared to challenge a 28-centimeter "nightstick" on her first try, and naturally, she was completely defeated.
But being a cheerleader captain, Jennifer had incredible stamina and flexibility. Her first "battle" unlocked multiple "combat poses," and she only gave in after three straight rounds. You could say she lost with honor.
With that, Roy now had two treasure chests. What's more, Jennifer's Conquest Treasure Chest was a sustainable source. While the first conquest guaranteed a chest, he had a chance to get one every time they... well, you know.
Should he just open both chests now while he was in that post-coital clarity?
Thinking this over, Roy decided to pet his "kitty" to try and boost his luck. He wasn't sure where he'd heard this worked, but he had a feeling.
"Roy, no... I can't take it! Let me sleep!"
Jennifer turned over, trying to get away from Roy's hand.
"It's okay, keep sleeping. I'm just petting the kitty."
Roy, having just finished giving the furry "kitty" a good rub, didn't notice a strange pink pattern flashing across Jennifer's lower abdomen.
"System, open Michael Myers' Fate Treasure Chest first!"
Opening Michael Myers' Fate Treasure Chest...
Obtained 2 Strength attribute points!
Obtained 3 Constitution attribute points!
Obtained the special ability: Devil Possession!
The attribute points were nothing to write home about. Michael's strengths were naturally in Strength and Constitution. After adding these five points, Roy's Constitution became his highest stat again.
The ability called Devil Possession, though, seemed a bit special.
Devil Possession: The Myers family carries a special bloodline that makes some of its descendants more susceptible to possession by evil entities from other realms. You now possess this ability, but without the negative consequences.
Passive Effect: Slightly increases resistance to attacks, reduces stun duration, and allows you to collect the fear of nearby living beings.
Active Effect: Release all collected fear to greatly increase physical attributes. The duration depends on the amount of fear collected.
No wonder Roy felt Michael's speed had increased a bit during their second encounter. It must have been because Michael absorbed the fear from the three police officers, boosting his physical abilities.
Regardless of how effective this ability was, what caught Roy's attention even more was the so-called special bloodline of the Myers family.
Considering that Jennifer was also possessed by a demon in the movie, could it be because of this special bloodline?
Roy looked at Jennifer, who was fast asleep with a sweet smile on her face. He wondered what she was dreaming about.
Since he'd taken her "first time," Roy would definitely protect Jennifer. He wouldn't let her end up like in the movie, turning against Needy and ultimately getting killed.
But how to collect fear was a problem. Right now, the Devil Possession ability showed a stored fear level of 0.
Did he have to go around playing pranks like some boring people?
Or should he follow the example of the Batman he'd just cosplayed, put on a tight suit and mask, and go out at night as a vigilante to scare criminals?
Roy definitely didn't have that kind of money!
Shaking his head, he knew he needed to think this through properly, otherwise, this ability would be useless.
He gave the "kitty" another pat. This time, Jennifer didn't react, probably already in a deep sleep.
"System, open Jennifer Morgan's Conquest Treasure Chest!"
Opening Jennifer Morgan's Conquest Treasure Chest...
Obtained 3 Constitution attribute points!
Obtained 1 Willpower attribute point!
He only got four attribute points and nothing else.
That was normal, though. After all, it was a Conquest Treasure Chest, and he had more chances to get them in the future, so the reward probability was likely lower than that of a Fate Treasure Chest.
However, this was the first time Roy had obtained non-physical attribute points. And the 3 Constitution points he received pushed his Constitution stat above 20 in one go.
According to the system's description, 10 points was the standard for an adult, and 20 was pretty much the limit for a human.
Only a few exceptionally gifted athletes or scientists could break through the 20-point barrier through rigorous study and training.
And Roy had inexplicably broken through the human limit just by taking down two killers and... well, you know, doing the deed.
He wondered if those guys who woke up at four in the morning every day for grueling training would want to kill him if they knew about this.
Sweet, sweet!
After adding the attribute points, Roy's stats were:
Roy Black
Human
Strength: 15
Agility: 16
Constitution: 21
Memory: 9
Spirit: 8
Willpower: 12
After opening the treasure chests, Roy turned off the light and went to sleep, holding Jennifer in his arms.
The next morning, as soon as Jennifer opened her eyes, she saw Roy's handsome face inches away.
Jennifer had a dazed expression, like a kitten that had sniffed catnip. She wanted to nuzzle against Roy.
But even a slight movement pulled at the injuries down below. After all, she had been severely wounded by a 28-centimeter "weapon" just last night and hadn't recovered yet.
"Hiss!"
Jennifer's movement woke Roy up. He looked at the girl in his arms, who was frowning, and asked with concern, "What's wrong? Still hurting?"
Hearing this, Jennifer rested her head on Roy's chest.
"Yeah, it still hurts a little."
"Then you shouldn't go to class today. As for the case, I'll help you deal with it."
Mentioning the case made Jennifer a little sad. From last night onwards, she was completely alone in this world.
Thankfully, she still had the boy in front of her to rely on!
Immediately after, Jennifer thought of someone else, her best friend Needy.
"Roy, what we did... it's so unfair to Needy! You absolutely can't tell her about this, I'm afraid she'll be heartbroken!"
Could there be such a good thing?
Jennifer was actually taking the initiative to hide her relationship with him. Of course, Roy wouldn't refuse, but he wouldn't say it outright, as that would make him seem too much of a jerk.
"This is all my fault, I couldn't control myself..."
Jennifer quickly stopped Roy from speaking and took the blame herself.
"No, this is all my fault, I was the one who initiated it! Roy, you're a good boy!"
He hadn't expected to receive the "good boy" evaluation.
Roy hugged Jennifer and whispered in her ear, "I don't want to hurt either of you. Let God decide in the end!"
Roy played the Puritan card again. Jennifer's heart fluttered, and she murmured along, "Yes, let God decide..."
But for some reason, when Jennifer said the name "God," a strange feeling of disgust welled up in her heart.
