Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: The Kaneda Gang

Evening was falling over Neo-Tokyo, and the city's bustle intensified as night approached. Kaneda was on his motorcycle, cruising the streets with his group of friends, The Buffaloes. The adrenaline rush of speed kept him alert, and the roar of the engine resonated in his chest. However, despite the excitement, there was a latent concern on his mind: Tetsuo.

Since the night of the fight, Kaneda hadn't been able to stop thinking about his friend. The transformation Tetsuo had undergone worried him. Although he had tried to act confident in front of the others, deep down he knew things had changed. The energy Tetsuo had unleashed was something he couldn't ignore, and he feared his friend was in danger.

"Kaneda, speed up! Let's see who's the fastest!" one of the gang members shouted, breaking his thoughts. Kaneda smiled and hit the gas, challenging his friend to a race. The feeling of freedom that speed gave him was unmatched, and for a moment, he could forget the worries that plagued him.

Reaching an intersection, they stopped at a traffic light. Kaneda looked around, observing the neon lights that lit up the night. Neo-Tokyo was a vibrant city, full of life, but also danger. Gangs competed for control of territory, and the government was always on the lookout, looking for ways to maintain order.

"Have you seen Tetsuo since last night?" one of the boys asked, interrupting his thoughts. Kaneda shook his head. "No. He's weird. We need to find him before he gets into trouble."

An awkward silence fell over the group. Everyone knew Tetsuo had changed, and concern for his well-being weighed heavily on them. Kaneda decided they couldn't wait any longer. It was time to act.

"Let's go to his apartment. Maybe we can find him there," Kaneda said, and everyone nodded, ready to help their friend.

When they arrived at the building where Tetsuo lived, the atmosphere was tense. Kaneda climbed the stairs quickly, feeling as if time stood still with each step. Upon reaching the third floor, he stopped in front of Tetsuo's apartment door. He knocked several times, but there was no answer.

"Tetsuo? Open the door!" he shouted, but the silence that followed was deafening. Kaneda felt a chill run down his spine. Something wasn't right. Determined not to give up, he pushed the door, and it opened with a creak.

The interior of the apartment was dark and cluttered. The streetlight barely illuminated the place, and Kaneda stepped inside, closely followed by his friends. "Tetsuo, are you here?" he called again, but only received the echo of his own voice.

As they explored the apartment, Kaneda noticed things out of place. The bed was unmade, and there was a pile of crumpled papers on the table. He walked over to the window and looked out, seeing a group of young people on the street, laughing and enjoying life. But deep down, he knew Tetsuo couldn't be there. Something was eating him up.

"What do you think happened to him?" one of the boys asked, breaking the silence. Kaneda turned away, feeling frustration rising in his chest. "I don't know, but I can't let this continue. If something's bothering him, we have to help him."

At that moment, a noise coming from the hallway made them turn around. Kaneda approached the door, and when he opened it, he found himself standing in front of a group of rival gang members, the Cyborgs. The leader, the same one who had challenged Kaneda the night before, stood at the front, a cocky grin on his face.

"Looking for your friend? I heard he's in some trouble," the leader said, mockingly. Kaneda felt rage welling up in him. "What do you know about Tetsuo?" he demanded, his voice thick with tension.

"Just that he's been making waves. Last time I saw him, he was causing a stir at the government lab," the leader replied, enjoying the tension in the air. Kaneda felt chilled. What had Tetsuo done in the lab? The thought of his friend getting into even bigger trouble filled him with worry.

"If you've done anything to him, I swear…" Kaneda began, but the leader interrupted him. "We haven't done anything. But if you want to find Tetsuo, maybe you should talk to the government. They're the ones who are really interested in him."

With that, the group of cyborgs turned and walked away, leaving them with more questions than answers. Kaneda turned to his friends, his mind racing. "We need to get to the lab. If Tetsuo's there, we need to get him out of that situation."

Without hesitation, Kaneda and the Buffaloes hopped on their motorcycles and headed toward the government lab. The city spun around them, a chaos of light and shadow. Worry for Tetsuo grew within him, but so did a determination to help him.

Upon arriving at the lab, they found themselves in an imposing building, protected by guards and security cameras. Kaneda knew it would be difficult to break in, but they couldn't give up. "Let's look for a back entrance. Maybe we can sneak in," he suggested.

As they searched for a way in, Kaneda remembered the Cyborg leader's words. The lab was full of secrets, and Tetsuo could be in danger. The thought of his friend in the hands of the government filled him with rage.

"If we find him, we have to act quickly. We can't let them control him," Kaneda said, and his friends nodded, ready for whatever was necessary.

Finally, they found a back door that was ajar. Kaneda peeked inside and, seeing that there were no guards, signaled for the others to enter. Once inside, the atmosphere became tense and silent. The lights flickered, and the air was permeated with a chemical smell that made them feel uneasy.

As they walked through the corridors, Kaneda felt like time was standing still. Every step brought him closer to the truth about Tetsuo and what had happened in the lab. He had to find him, and he was willing to face anything to bring him back.
