Chapter 13 - The Look of You

Now dark outside and 18 bottles downed between the two of them Beelzebub drunkenly screamed out.

"I mean how could I -burp- possibly not partner up now haha you made an excellent first impression boy."

Trying as hard as possible to sway around and look unstable Drakar replied very slowly.

"Yeah mannnnn... I got uh... I gotta go home I'm bout to throw up."

Laughing with jolly and holding his belly Beelzebub replied.

"I understand for such a little guy you lasted a while. Just wait one moment I have a present just for you."

With that Drakar turned around to see over twenty chained women standing in the corridor. After actually having a fun time and letting some of the alcohol infect him Drakar forgot why he dreaded meeting this man so much. A filthy slave trader, thats what Beelzebub was. In the end all he is, is a weak man who wishes to feel strength through forcing the powerless to crawl underneath him.

"Ah I feel bad to give them away since all of them are my utmost favorite, but for someone like you I'll let two slip out of my grasp. Trust me they're all real nice workers."

Nudging Drakar on the shoulder Beelzebub added.

"They're real good at "accompanying" you late at night as well. Of course I also arranged two carriages for you three to ride back in."

Drakar hiding his disgust behind a bright smile so wide it forced his eyes to close. He slapped Beelzebub's shoulder and exclaimed.

"My man! Alright I want uhh whats up with those two."

Following Drakar's sight Beelzebub quickly replied.

"Oh why are they so close to each other and look the same, it's a mother daughter duo."

"Ah I see, okay, I'll take those two then. Pleasure doing business with you."

-----

Drakar slumped down into a carriage with his two new friends, he poured his mana into the control center causing the wheels to slowly begin to spin and take him back to the Mammon estate. Infront of him sat two wolf based lupus, which are demons with wolf like features. The younger one wore Drakar's white dress shirt and the mother wearing his red ceremonial robes, which he gave them as soon as they all left the castle.

The youngest of the two had extremely light blue hair, which was basically white, with light blue streaks in. On top of her head were no horns but two upright large wolf ears. She had cloudy blue eyes which mirrored the beautiful skies of Estia. Hard to tell from her slouched over position she seemed to be equal to or taller than Drakar. With her head down trying to find comfort in her mother's embrace the mom spoke for her saying her name was Kida and that she was 30 years old. Which equaled out to around 19 if she were human. She had pale white skin, probably from malnourishment, and a big white fluffy tail which replaced her wings.

Right beside Kida was her mother Aiko. Aiko didn't state her age but simply based on how she looked older than Drakar, but still incredibly youthful she couldn't be older than 60 which was around 23-24 if she were human. Unlike her daughter she had light blue hair. One of her ears was a stump while the other drooped down. Her eyelids made it look like she constantly had her eyes closed which almost hid her dark blue eyes. One would assume the her eyes were like that just from how she was born, but based on her upbringing it must've been from repeated trauma to the eyes making her instinctually have them almost always barely open. Aiko had a white and blue tail which seemed more disheveled than her daughters.

Drakar held his head trying to rein in his thoughts, after minutes of silence he decided it was about time to speak to the two new members of his estate.

"All right, you both have two choices we drive off into the outlands and I drop you off without looking back or you come back with me to my home."

With the younger one's face buried into her mother's bosom unable to speak the mother said.

"I believe we'll have to stay with you."

This was the obvious choice if abandoned the two would suffer the same fate, with their untrained techniques the two would most likely be kidnapped or killed. Best case scenario they would have to return to the pleasure district free to earn their keep. All in all with nothing they had to stay near their new master.

While rubbing her daughters head she slightly smiled obviously trying to hide her fear. To try and reassure the two Drakar blurted out.

"Don't worry your safe with me."

Drakar tried to smile but was met with Kida's eyes, finally the daughter raised her head but it was not out of joy. Drakar stared in those ocean blue cloudy eyes, it was like some force was keeping him staring at her. In them he saw a well of sadness and fear arise deep from within her soul.

How could six words bring such despair Drakar wanted to question but he knew the answer. That had to have been the thousandth time she heard them. Friend after friend. Ally after ally. Master after master. They all must of said the exact same thing. The same lie repeated again and again only for the cycle of torment to begin anew.

In those deep eyes Drakar could finally see himself in a new light, from a new light. At long last Drakar could see himself how others saw him. He realized other people have other lives, other goals, other dreams, other views. Drakar saw that he was no hero, no grand protagonist of Hell, his judgement was not the almighty words of god. That truly, for most people, he was the bad guy. In her eyes Drakar was just as much scum as Beelzebub.

He finally understood what he felt when he cast aside Dante it was the same emotion he felt now, pure unbridled guilt. Sorrow intertwined within his bones as those bright blue eyes turned watery. Drakar was no savior he was her villain.
