The lord world brims with jobs—picking the right one matters most. The Primordial Temple, steeped in mystery, offers rare, hidden paths.
Zhou Yan skips the Rune God's trial; it doesn't click. The divine bridge shifts—a new vortex swirls, labeled: God of Bow Houyi's Inheritance.
"Houyi?" He pauses. Earth's legend—slayer of suns, beast-killer. Tempting, but he moves on. Countless legacies await; no rush.
Another vortex: Dragon God Yingli's Inheritance.
"Yingli?" Unknown to him—dragon-linked, maybe. Non-humans could claim it, he guesses.
More emerge:
Spear God Taixu
Fire God Zhurong
Emperor Di Jun
War God Ares
Beast God Guli
Some ring familiar—Canglan myths, Earth tales—others, alien. All titans, their trials fierce. Each legacy's unique, won only by strength.
Hundreds spark. A golden vortex halts him: Emperor Fuxi's Inheritance.
Fuxi—humanity's root, Three Emperors' head. He wove gossip, shielded humans, kindled civilization. Zhou Yan probes its details: it bolsters personal might and territory power. Perfect—his strength flows from Heavenly Court. Other paths dazzle, but none match Fuxi's scope.
[Temple Prompt: "Choose Emperor Fuxi's Inheritance? One per race. Failure delays retry 30 days. Trial time flows 100:1 to outside world."]
Failure's no dead end—monthly retries persist. Legacies lock once claimed, unless abandoned or death frees them. One shot per person.
"100:1?" Zhou Yan marvels. A hundred trial days equal one outside—ideal for trial-bound Heavenly Court.
He steps out to settle affairs. Finding Diao Chan and Zhen Mi, he says, "I'm entering the temple for a job trial. Could be a while."
He briefs them on the temple. "If I'm not back soon, Chan'er, you're in charge."
With Diao Chan's might, Zhen Mi's spells, and Si Teng's crew, the territory's safe. Time's flow ensures he won't linger long.
"No monster will touch us," Diao Chan vows.
"I'll back her up," Zhen Mi adds.
"Good," Zhou Yan says. "One last thing—more hands. I'll summon White-Robed Ghost Soldiers."
At the barracks, Zhang San salutes. "Lord!"
Zhou Yan hits the summoning platform:
[Territory Prompt: "Spent 1,000 soul coins, summoned White-Robed Ghost Soldier."]
…
Twenty soldiers cost 20,000 coins—no generals, a pity but expected.
"Greetings, Lord!" they kneel.
"Rise," Zhou Yan says, leveling them to 10, draining most of his coins.
Zhen Mi opened all Treasure Room chests earlier—stacked for efficiency, saving time.
"Zhang San's your captain now," Zhou Yan orders. "Obey him."
"Yes!" they roar.
He adds, "I'm taking a trial. Diao Chan runs things—follow her without fail."
"Yes!"
Her role's clear—his trust shines. He briefs Si Teng's team too—Diao Chan's word is law.
Outside the temple, Diao Chan and Zhen Mi see him off. "I'll return fast," Zhou Yan says. "Then you can try for legacies."
He steps in, the golden gate swallowing him.
