~Bella's POV
The room was dark except for the faint glow of the streetlights slipping through the blinds. I sat on the edge of the bed, staring at the bills from the hospital and Noah's lawyer. But I had nothing. No money. No help. Nothing.
The weight of it crushed me. I pulled my knees to my chest, burying my face in my arms as the tears came again, hot and relentless. I cried until my body couldn't take it anymore, until exhaustion pulled me into a restless sleep.
When I woke up the next morning, the dull ache in my chest hadn't eased. It was as if the sadness had seeped into my bones overnight. I sat up slowly, staring at the crumpled pile of bills on the table. They looked like they were mocking me, daring me to find a solution.
The room felt colder than usual, as if my hopelessness had seeped into the air itself.
