Military training camp
(23rd April, 1940)
(POV: Jon)
Two weeks have passed since I came to the training camp. Man, let me tell you something about this camp: It reeks of testosterone.
In these two weeks, we learned how to handle different situations, including trench warfare.
Now, let me give you a summary of what happened to my assimilation rate.
Well, I am proud to say there is only 2 percent remaining after that, I would completely assimilate with the chamber.
Moreover, I unlocked Chambers' abilities at each interval of 25%. First, I unlocked the chamber's trap, then his sheriff, then teleportation card, and lastly, in am nearing to unlock his ultimate ability.
That is his operator, which is a sniper rifle that can one-shot anyone, even if they hit the non-lethal spot.
But there are some limitations to my abilities, like I can only teleport two times a day after if I try to use more time of this ability I would be exhausted, as I ran a 15 km marathon.
The same is with the sheriff and trap abilities; the more I use these abilities, the more it takes a toll on my vitality.
I fear it's lessening my lifespan, so I have to find a way to mitigate the side effects of my abilities.
As for how I increased my assimilation, there was this concession in a system like transmog.
I can disguise the sheriff as a Colt pistol to further reduce the caliber. I found a simple solution: when I put less vital energy, it can automatically reduce the caliber so it looks like the same caliber on the practice dummy.
Also, how I practised the trap ability, I just put the trap in the toilets, well, I found that I can change the lethality of my trap by adjusting my output of vitality once again, and they can also camouflage themselves.
So I set the traps, which were two at max, to stun lethality, but that worked more like a tranquilizer.
Thereafter, the traps were set off by my units, every day, 2 of my units' personnel were found knocked out in their respective toilet stall.
Afterward, the legend of the stunning ghost started, and most of my unit mates would prefer to wet themselves than go to the toilets at night.
However, this gave me a perfect chance to practise my teleportation, so that if I embed the golden card in a certain place, it can also camouflage itself, then I embed the card in another place.
Then I can develop a link between them so I can use my teleportation ability. But here's the thing: the greater the distance between the cards, the more vitality it uses.
So I embedded one card in the toilet stall at one end, while I placed another card in the toilet stall at the other end of the toilet. That's how I increased my assimilation of Camber
Furthermore, there is another side effect after teleporting. I get disoriented after teleportation, afterwards, it always takes a minimum of 15 seconds to orient myself.
There is also a limitation in teleportation: I can only develop a teleportation link between two cards; I cannot do more than that.
But I also had this gut feeling that if I solved the issue of vitality, then I could develop more than 1 link between two cards. If I have that, then I can easily escape any precarious situation.
Furthermore, as per the schedule, we have been working on teamwork skills to respond to the war last week.
As we are working on teamwork, our drill sergeant came to us with a serious expression.
(POV: Drill Sergeant)
I thought that this batch of recruits had shown some promise, which can be useful, but the higher-ups decided to relocate 4 of the most skilled cadets from the 6th regiment to the airborne division.
They said these talents can be used for something greater than just being cannon fodder in the war.
Well, there is nothing I can do but follow the orders because orders from the higher up triumph all.
I can only hope these 4 could survive this war and live past their teenage years, while most of the unit has been trained and ready to fight in the war.
These 4 will have to get more than 2 weeks for their training in the airborne division, which is a spec-ops unit.
So when I saw those 4 doing teamwork drills along with the whole unit, I decided to inform them being transferred to another unit.
(POV: Jon)
Well, the drill sergeant just now relayed the order of our transfer to the airborne unit, and I am not the only one.
I have my best buddy Liam, I also have my 2nd best buddy Rodriguez, along with my 3rd friend Anthony, whom I already marked as my friend of whom I told my grand kids that he was the friend who got martyred in the war.
I would be lying that the transfer did not surprise me, but after our performance in training, it makes sense that the higher-ups decided to use manpower wisely.
Like Liam, my buddy is built like a close combat specialist, while Rodriguez is a support wizard with the rifle, whose skills with the rifle left me in awe, along with Anthony being a heavy machinegunner who lifts it like it were the Colt, and I am the marksman of the squad.
I don't know, but being a sniper in a squad soothed an itch that I had when I was a kid, because a sniper was so cool that I always wanted to be one.
Imagine ripping through the heart of the jungle with gillie suits and then stalking the target as a patient predator, then finishing the target with a cool retreat. It felt like a dream come true.
Finally, the Drill sergeant also disclosed that we would be given an extra 3 weeks of training for the war.
So we were told to pack our bags, get ready to finish the rest of the training in the airborne unit.
