Chapter 2 - Understanding the system

Lee Joon sat on the cold stone floor of the Verdant Moon Palace, still feeling lost.

Everything around him was quiet. The huge hall stretched far in every direction, with moonlight shining down through windows of white crystal. He could see his reflection in the polished floor. It wasn't the face he used to know.

This wasn't his body.

But the body didn't feel wrong. It felt strong. Built. Scarred. Like it had survived hundreds of battles.

He took a deep breath and opened his hand. The system screen popped up again, glowing softly.

Joon stared at the screen. So many things… and he didn't understand most of them.

"What does 'Soul Sync' mean?" he asked aloud.

The system responded with a calm, robotic voice in his mind.

Soul Sync measures how well your soul matches the body. A higher percentage unlocks more power, memories, and abilities.

He nodded slowly. "So, I haven't fully merged yet…"

That made sense. The body still didn't feel completely his. He could feel small aches in places that had already healed. Like ghosts of pain that didn't belong to him.

Would you like to explore the Verdant Moon Palace features?

"Yes," he said.

The screen changed.

Personal Space – Features Available:

– Command Hall (Wolf Troop)

– Qi Training Room (Sealed)

– Meditation Garden

– Throne Room

– Teleportation Circle (Requires Activation)

He stood up and followed the glowing line that appeared on the floor, leading him toward the Command Hall.

The doors opened with a soft hum.

Inside, three hundred wolf-headed warriors stood at attention. Their armor gleamed black, and their eyes glowed red. They looked terrifying—but didn't move unless ordered.

As soon as he stepped in, the biggest one stepped forward and knelt.

"Alpha," the warrior said, his deep voice echoing through the hall. "We await your command."

Joon cleared his throat, trying not to look nervous.

"What… can you all do?"

The warrior tilted his head slightly. "We are skilled in tracking, close combat, and large-scale warfare. We require no food. No sleep. We follow only your voice."

Another screen popped up.

Wolf Troop Skills:– Shadow Step (Silent movement)

– Iron Howl (Boosts troop power temporarily)

– Pack Resurrection (Revives fallen wolves once per battle)

– Formation: Wolf Wall, Crescent Fang, Phantom Hunt

Joon blinked.

"That's… insane."

The warrior nodded. "We are your sword, Alpha."

Joon felt a strange weight in his chest. For someone who had never been noticed, never been followed, it was hard to believe these warriors would give their lives for him without question.

He gave a small nod. "Dismissed for now."

The troops vanished like mist, returning to wherever they waited.

Joon walked out of the Command Hall and into the Meditation Garden. The air here felt lighter. A soft breeze blew through tall grass and glowing trees. He sat under one of them, resting his back against the trunk.

Another prompt appeared.

Do you wish to access your system menu and personal functions?

"Yes."

The screen opened up like a book, this time showing more personal options.

Name: Lee JoonAge: 27 (Human World)

Emotional State: Unstable

Combat Class: Undefined

Skill Slots: 0 (Locked)

Titles:– [The Transmigrator]

– [Alpha of the Wolf Legion]

– [Heir of the Verdant Moon] (Unconfirmed)

Joon frowned.

"Heir of the Verdant Moon?"

The previous owner of this body was chosen for something great. Your presence has activated a hidden destiny. More will be revealed as Soul Sync increases.

Joon leaned his head back against the tree.

This world was full of secrets. His new body had a past. People would probably come looking for him—some to test him, some to kill him. He had to be ready.

But right now, he barely knew how to use the powers the system gave him.

"Can I train?" he asked.

Qi Training Room is sealed until Soul Sync reaches 90%. You may meditate here to increase sync.

He closed his eyes.

Let the wind move through him.

Let the silence guide his breath.

He didn't know how to meditate—but something inside this body remembered. His breathing slowed. His mind steadied.

I may not know this world… but I'm here now.

I have power now. I won't waste it.

Time passed.

When he opened his eyes again, the system chimed softly.

Soul Sync: 85%

Hidden Mission Reminder: Find out who betrayed Sujin and why.

Joon stood up.

It was time to learn more. Time to leave the palace and find answers.
